Overall Analysis and the Questions asked in the IBPS CLERK PRELIMS Exam 2017 – Day 1 & 2

The most expected exam of the year is the IBPS Exams and the generalists exam was the most sought exam of this year and the day 1 and day 2 of IBPS CLERK PRELIMS EXAM 2017 is over. The IBPS is conducting the exam for the clerk position of various banks for which the vacancies are released. The total number of vacancies available for the IBPS CLERK 2017 is 7883. The IBPS CLERK PRELIMS 2017 was easier for the initial day and there weren’t much changes in the topics asked in the IBPS CLERK PRELIMS EXAM 2017. The predominant change happened in the last slot of  day 2 where the topics which are not asked for a few exams were asked in that section and all the questions were less. The Quantitative aptitude section was the same with changes mostly in the miscellaneous section only.  The reasoning section was the next one where there were more changes when compared to the other sections like quantitative sections and English section.

TOPICS ASKED IN QUANTITATIVE SECTION IN IBPS CLERK PRELIMS EXAM 2017

There were not much changes in this section when compared to the other sections. Data Interpretation , Missing Number Series , Simplification and Miscellaneous filled the topics asked in the Quantitative section. Only changes happened in the miscellaneous sections and not all the topics were asked.

So the split up was asked like this, 5 questions from Data Interpretation which is mostly in the Tabular form. The Missing number series was mostly easy. All the questions could be easily solved and it constituted for 5 questions. The simplification questions asked were based on various rules and were mostly in the easy range and 15 questions were asked in total.

In the Miscellaneous sections constituted for around 10 questions in all the slots. The various topics which were asked in the miscellaneous section are discounts, profit and loss, ratio and proportions , boats and streams, percentages , averages and partnerships. Mostly this section was in the easy to moderate.


TOPICS ASKED IN REASONING ABILITY SECTION IN IBPS CLERK PRELIMS EXAM 2017

This section had the easiest questions out of all the sections and this is the scoring part in the IBPS CLERK PRELIMS EXAM 2017. Most of the candidates found this to be easy and they would have at least 25 questions form this section in average.

The topics that are asked in the reasoning section are listed below and some slots had varying number for the below said topics, so we refrain from mentioning the exact number of those sections. What is constant among reasoning section is Sentence Arrangement and Puzzles and it too had changes for most of the batches but this was a sure section apart from alphabet and number series. The arrangement and Puzzle questions were asked in a total number of 10 and 5 which varied for each batch.

The topics asked in Reasoning section are

  • Seating Arrangement – Linear Arrangement (1 set – 5 questions – maximum )
  •                                           Circle Arrangement (1 set – 5 questions maximum )
  • Puzzles – Floor Based (mostly) (1 set – 5 questions – maximum )
  • Alphabet Series (max 5 questions )
  • Number series (Don’t confuse with the one in the Quantitative section)
  • Alphanumeric series (Max 5 questions)
  • Order Ranking
  • Inequalities (max – 3 questions)
  • Coding and Decoding
  • Blood Relations
  • Directions

Directions sets were asked with the total of 3 questions in some slots. Alphabet and Alpha Numeric series and Number series questions dominated most of the slots with those topics filling the predominant percentage in reasoning section. This section will be the scoring part for many aspirants.


TOPICS ASKED IN THE ENGLISH SECTION IN THE IBPS CLERK PRELIMS 2017

This section had same topics and had no significant changes in the slots in day 1 and day 2, but the last 2 slots of the IBPS Clerk prelims in day 2 had predominant changes. Some of the new topics were asked. As like many of the exams, this section will be the deciding factor for the IBPS Clerk prelims exam 2017 for many candidates.

Sentence Rearrangement and Cloze Test were asked in the last slot. The spelling errors was also changed and for the previous batches (instead of the last batch in day 2). The spelling errors topics was asked in the format to find the part of the sentence that has the correct spelling without considering the part A where the sentence totally had 5 parts including the one in the beginning.

The Filler questions had various options and two words could fit the single fillers and candidates have to find the words that could fit the blanks. The same pattern was also followed in the double fillers too. Spot the error was the same.

Sentence Rearrangement questions asked was in the same format as you would have learnt. The Error  Spotting and Spelling Errors had few changes from the normal format. The Reading Comprehension was extremely a small passage but the questions asked from that passage was in depth and it requires intense reading of those passages. No synonyms and antonyms questions were asked in the English section.
