COMPUTER NETWORKING

Networking in computer terminology means connecting computers and peripheral devices in such a way that the networked computers are able to work together. These networked computers may be located at different places or in the same premises. These include Local Area Network (LAN), Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) or Wide Area Network (WAN).

Networking has various advantages that include:

  • The networking helps in sharing the hardware and software between various terminals.
  • The messages can be transmitted between various users like intercoms.
  • These system have in-built security and new terminals can be attached and wanted ones removed as per convenience.
  • The system functions with the help of a server. It needs to be noted that the systems are very costly and have to be properly maintained.

E- COMMERCE

E-  Commerce refers to  buying and selling of goods and services through internet, with business sites on internet offering the customers,  buying and selling options. It is consider to be a generic term to describe technology- enabled communication with customers and suppliers for a business organisation. In its broader perspective, e- Commerce is conduction business processes through an entire spectrum of activities such as EDI, electronic payment system, inventory and order management , product support and service, information delivery and other business application linking solutions through the use of paperless information technologies such as internet, bar coding, e-mail, smart cards, CD-ROMs etc.
