The 22nd European Union Film Festival (EUFF) premiered at Siri Fort auditorium with the screening of Estonian film Cherry Tobacco.

IOB launches retail mart in Thiruvananthapuram:

    Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), the Lead Bank for Thiruvananthapuram district, has launched the Retail Mart, a retail lending concept, in Kerala’s capital city.

The exclusive facility that handles retail products has started functioning at the main branch of the bank at Statue Junction in Thiruvananthapuram.

ONGC keen to buy HPCL, deal to cost Rs 42,254 cr:

State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) is keen to acquire India’s third-biggest fuel retailer HPCL in a Rs 42,254 crore deal.

GST rate cut on merchant services to 5% from 18%:

The GST Council announced a sharp cut in GST rates on the merchant services at 5 per cent from 18 per cent.

Since many inputs were kept under various tax slabs, the high level of 18 per cent tax on merchant services would have offered inverted duty structure resulting into a negative impact on the business.

Jairam Ramesh’s book on the naturist in Indira Gandhi launched:

The book “Indira Gandhi – A life in Nature”, was launched by Congress president Sonia Gandhi at the Indira Gandhi Memorial in the presence of former ministers, bureaucrats and environmentalists who worked closely with her to frame some of country’s landmarks wildlife and environment laws.

The Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) it had appointed a transgender as social development officer. Sadhana Kinnar, originally known as Sadhana Mishra, hails from Keonjhar town and holds an MA in Social Work and Business Administration. This is for the first time in the country that a transgender has been appointed in the private sector.

dPadre Miguel d’Escoto – Nicaragua’s Chancellor of Peace and Dignity:

           Padre Miguel d’Escoto Brockmann died aged 84 after a relapse following successful treatment for a stroke earlier this year.

His death deprives us of the leadership and guidance of one of the world’s great moral leaders, a tireless advocate of non-violence and peace.
