1. Ministry of Textiles Celebrates 7^th National Handloom Day

• On 7 August, the country celebrates National Handloom Day. The day was first celebrated in 2015 by the union government to generate awareness about the importance of the handloom industry.
• 7 August was chosen as Handloom day to commemorate Swadeshi Movement which was launched on the same date in the year 1905.
• ‘Handloom, an Indian legacy’is the theme of 2021’s National Handloom Day celebrations.

1. ஜவுளித்துறை அமைச்சகம் 7வது தேசிய கைத்தறி தினத்தை கொண்டாடுகிறது

• ஆண்டு தோறும் 7 ஆகஸ்ட் அன்று இந்தியா தேசிய கைத்தறி தினத்தை கொண்டாடுகிறது. கைத்தறித் தொழிலின் முக்கியத்துவம் குறித்த விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்த 2015ஆம் ஆண்டு, முதன்முதலில் இந்த நாள் கொண்டாடப்பட்டது.
• 1905ஆம் ஆண்டு இதே தேதியில் தொடங்கப்பட்ட சுதேசி இயக்கத்தை நினைவுகூரும் வகையில் 7 ஆகஸ்ட் கைத்தறி தினமாகத் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டது.
• ‘கைத்தறி, இந்தியாவின் பாரம்பரியம்’ என்பதே 2021ஆம் ஆண்டின் தேசிய கைத்தறி தினத்தின் கருப்பொருள் ஆகும்.

TAMILNADU

2. Coimbatore Railway Station gets IGBC’s platinum rating

• The Coimbatore Railway Station has received the ‘platinum’ rating from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), becoming the only railway station in Southern Railways and the sixth railway station in India to receive this level of green certification.
• According to a release from the Salem Railway Division, the IGBC with the support of the Environment Directorate of Indian Railways developed the ‘Green Railway Stations Rating System’ to facilitate the adoption of ‘green concepts’ in railway stations, thereby reducing the adverse environmental impacts due to station operation and maintenance.

2. கோயம்புத்தூர் ரயில் நிலையம் பிளாட்டினம் மதிப்பீட்டைப் பெறுகிறது

• கோயம்புத்தூர் ரயில் நிலையம் இந்திய பசுமை கட்டிடக் கழகத்தின் (IGBC) ‘பிளாட்டினம்‘ மதிப்பீட்டைப் பெற்றுள்ளது, தெற்கு ரயில்வேயில் உள்ள ஒரே ரயில் நிலையமாகவும் பசுமைச் சான்றிதழைப் பெற்ற இந்தியாவின் ஆறாவது ரயில் நிலையமாகவும் இந்த இரயில் நிலையம் மாறியுள்ளது.
• சேலம் ரயில்வே கோட்டத்தின் அறிக்கையின்படி, இந்திய ரயில்வேயின் சுற்றுச்சூழல் இயக்குநரகத்தின் ஆதரவுடன் ரயில் நிலையங்களில் ‘பசுமை கருத்துகளை’ பின்பற்றுவதற்கு வசதியாக ‘பசுமை ரயில் நிலையங்களின் மதிப்பீட்டு அமைப்பை’ உருவாக்கியது. இதன் மூலம் நிலைய செயல்பாடு மற்றும் பராமரிப்பு காரணமாக பாதகமான சுற்றுச்சூழல் தாக்கங்களைக் குறைக்கிறது.

3. Power Minister Launches ‘Reform and Regulatory Knowledge base for Power Sector’

• The Union Minister for Power and New and Renewable Energy, Shri R.K Singh launched ‘Reform and regulatory knowledge base for power sector’, an e-certification program to provide regulatory training to the practitioners from diverse backgrounds through virtual mode.
• He also launched a Regulatory Data Dashboard which is an e-compendium of data containing state-wise details of tariff and DISCOM performance. Both the e-certification program and Dashboard have been developed by IIT Kanpur.

3. ‘மின் துறைக்கான சீர்திருத்தம் மற்றும் ஒழுங்குமுறை அறிவுதளத்தை’ மின் துறை அமைச்சர் தொடங்கி வைத்தார்

4. Dr. Virendra Kumar launches ‘PM-DAKSH’ Portal and ‘PM-DAKSH’ Mobile App

• Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar has launched the ‘PM-DAKSH’ Portal and ‘PM-DAKSH’ Mobile App at Nalanda Auditorium, Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, Delhi.
• The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, in collaboration with the National e-governance Division (NeGD), has developed this portal and app to make the skill development schemes accessible to the target groups of Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Safai Karamcharis.

4. டாக்டர் வீரேந்திர குமார் ‘PM-DAKSH’ வலைதளம் மற்றும் ‘PM-DAKSH’ செயலி ஆகியவற்றைத் தொடங்கி வைத்தார்

5. Dhriti Banerjee becomes the 1^st woman director to be appointed the director of the 105 years of Zoological Survey of India (ZSI)

• Dhriti Banerjee has become the first woman to be appointed as the director of the 105-year-old Zoological Survey of India (ZSI).
• The 51-year-old has had an illustrious career as a scientist, conducting researching in taxonomy, zoo-geography, morphology and molecular systematics.
• She has been the co-ordinator of ZSI’s Digital Sequence Information Project since 2012.

5. 105 ஆண்டுகள் பழமையான இந்திய விலங்கியல் ஆய்வின் (ZSI) முதல் பெண் இயக்குநராக திருதி பானர்ஜி நியமிக்கப்படுகிறார்.

• 105 ஆண்டுகள் பழமையான இந்திய விலங்கியல் ஆய்வின் (ZSI) இயக்குநராக நியமிக்கப்பட்ட முதல் பெண்மணி என்ற பெருமையை திருதி பானர்ஜி பெற்றுள்ளார்.

6. Karunanidhi’s death anniversary is observed on 7 August

• Former Chief Minister Karunanidhi’s third death anniversary is observed on 7 August. He died in 2018.
• Muthuvel Karunanidhi was born on 3 June 1924 and an Indian writer and politician who served as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for almost two decades over five terms between 1969 and 2011.
• He was popularly referred to as ‘Kalaignar’ (Artist) and ‘Mutthamizh Arignar’(Tamil scholar) for his contributions to Tamil literature.
• He had the longest tenure as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu with 6863 days in office. He was also a long-standing leader of the Dravidian movement and ten-time president of the political party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

6. கருணாநிதியின் நினைவுதினம் 7 ஆகஸ்ட்

• முன்னாள் முதல்வர் மு. கருணாநிதியின் மூன்றாவது நினைவு நாள் 7 ஆகஸ்ட் அன்று அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது. இவர் 2018இல் இறந்தார்.

7. Rabindranath Tagore Death Anniversary is observed on 7 August

• The death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore is observed on 7 August, He died on 1941.
• Rabindranath Tagore was the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in the year 1913.
• He is the only writer whose compositions have been chosen as the national anthem for two countries India and Bangladesh.
• The song Jana gana mana written and composed by Tagore in 1911 was adopted as India’s national anthem on 24 January 1950.

7. ரவீந்திரநாத் தாகூரின் நினைவு தினம் 7 ஆகஸ்ட் அன்று அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது

• ரவீந்திரநாத் தாகூரின் நினைவு நாள் ஆகஸ்ட் 7 அன்று அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது, இவர் 1941இல் இறந்தார்.

8. Sushma Swaraj Death Anniversary is observed on 6 August

• Former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj was known as an eloquent orator and parliamentarian. On 6 August 2019, Swaraj died at the age of 67.
• At the age of 25, she became a cabinet minister for labour and employment in Haryana in 1977.
• Sushma Swaraj used Twitter as the only medium to communicate with common people and to resolve complaints.

• A recent publication has provided crucial evidence that Ancestral Dravidian languages were possibly spoken by a significant population in the Indus Valley civilisation.
• The paper titled ‘Ancestral Dravidian Languages in Indus Civilization: Ultraconserved Dravidian Tooth-word Reveals Deep Linguistic Ancestry and Supports Genetics’, by Bahata Ansumali Mukhopadhyay was published.
• The paper by Bahata Ansumali Mukhopadhyay seeks to resolve a crucial part of this perennial puzzle of South Asian pre-history.

10. Aditi Ashok is India’s first woman golfer to finish 4^th at Olympic Games

• Indian Player Aditi, who had been one of the most consistent golfers across the first three rounds of the women’s golf competition in Tokyo Olympics 2020, narrowly missed out on a medal though, after finishing fourth in a field of 60 golfers.
• And with that, she is also now the Indian golfer with the best finish ever at the Olympics. 
• Aditi Ashok is India’s first woman golfer to finish 4^th at Olympic Games.

11. Zoological Survey of India

• The Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), was founded on 1 July 1916 by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India.
• Its headquarters is located in Kolkata.
• The history of ZSI begins from the days of the Asiatic Society of Bengal founded by Sir William Jones on 15 January 1784.
