P=1000000

R1=15%

R2=35%

R3=45%

Population of city at the end of year 2007

=P(1+R1/100)(1-R2/100)(1+R3/100)

=1000000*115/100*65/100*145/100

=1083875

c)

Let Arun=A; Rahul=Ra; Rohit=Ro; Raju=Rj; Monika=M

A=Ra-35

Ra=55+M

Ro=85=10+M

Rj=Max-61

Rj=44+A

By solving these, we get Rj=139; Max=200

So Rj%=139/100 × 100 =69.5%=70%

b)

Let the number of candidates applied for the examination = x
Given that 5% of the applicants were found ineligible.
It means that 95% of the applicants were eligible ( 100% – 5% = 95%)

Given that 85% of the eligible candidates belonged to the general category

It means 15% of the eligible candidates belonged to other

categories (100% 85% = 15%)

95x*15/100*100= 4275

a)

No of boys = x
No of girls =X + x(45/100)
= 29x/20
Total = X+(29x/20) = 294
49x = 294×20 = 5880
X = 5880/49 = 120(boys)
Girls = (29×120)/20 = 174
Difference = 174 – 120 = 54

b)

Let 100 kg of hematite be obtained then 20% of it get wasted that means 80 kg of remain.

Pure iron = 25% of remaining are = 80 x 25/100= 20

20 kg pure iron is from 100 kg hematite.

1 kg pure iron is obtained from = 100/20 hematite.

80000 kg pure iron is = 100/20 x 80000

= 40000 kg hematite
