1. Importing Red rice from Assam to the USA for the first time.

• The first consignment of ‘red rice’ was flagged off today to the USA. The rice variety is referred as ‘Bao-dhaan’, which is an integral part of the Assamese food
• Iron rich ‘red rice’ is grown in Brahmaputra valley of Assam, without the use of any chemical fertilizer.
• The flagging off ceremony of the export consignments was carried out by APEDA, Which promotes rice exports through collaborations with various stakeholders in the value chains.
• The government had set up the Rice Export Promotion Forum (REPF), under the aegis of the APEDA.

• இரும்பு சத்து நிறைந்த ‘சிவப்பு அரிசி’ அசாம் மாநிலம் பிரம்மபுத்திரா பள்ளத்தாக்கில் ரசாயன உரத்தை பயன்படுத்தாமல், அதிகளவில் சாகுபடி செய்யப்படுகிறது.
• இந்த முதல் ஏற்றுமதியை ஏ.பி.இ.டி.ஏ(APEDA) கொடியசைத்து துவக்கி வைத்தது. இந்த அமைப்பு பல்வேறு பங்குதாரர்களுடன் இணைந்து அரிசி ஏற்றுமதியை ஊக்குவிக்கிறது.

2. PM Narendra Modi to receive the CERAWeek Global Energy and Environment Leadership Award.

• India Prime Minister Narendra Modi will receive the CERAWeek Global Energy and Environment Leadership Award and deliver keynote address at the Cambridge Energy Research Associates Week (CERAWeek) 2021 on 5th March through video conferencing.
• CERAWeek Global Energy and Environment Leadership Award was instituted in 2016, which recognizes the commitment of leadership to the future of global energy & the environment.
• CERAWeek was founded in 1983 by Dr. Daniel Yergin. This year, it was conducted virtually from 1st March to 5th March, 2021.

2. பிரதமர் நரேந்திர மோடி அவர்களுக்கு செராவீக்(CERAWEEK) உலகளாவிய எரிசக்தி மற்றும் சுற்றுச்சூழல் தலைமைத்துவ விருது வழங்கப்பட்டது.

• இந்தியா பிரதமர் நரேந்திர மோடி அவர்கள் செராவீக் உலகளாவிய எரிசக்தி மற்றும் சுற்றுச்சூழல் தலைமைத்துவ விருதை பெற்றார். மேலும் கேம்பிரிட்ஜ் எரிசக்தி ஆராய்ச்சி அசோசியேட்ஸ் வாரத்தில் (CERAWEEK) காணொலி காட்சியின் மூலம் சிறப்புரையாற்றினார்.

3. Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar on Self-regulation of OTT platforms

• Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar held an interaction with representatives of various over-the-top (OTT) platforms including from Alt Balaji, Hotstar, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Jio, Zee5, Viacom18, Shemaroo, MxPlayer, etc.,
• It was decided that Government would come out with progressive institutional mechanism for OTT players and develop a level playing field with the idea of self-regulation and are expected to develop an effective grievance redressal mechanism.
• The Minister has clarified that OTT platforms will not have to register with the government, and no government nominee will be present in the self-regulatory body.

3. OTT தளங்களின் சுய கட்டுப்பாடு குறித்து மத்திய தகவல் மற்றும் ஒளிபரப்பு அமைச்சர் பிரகாஷ் ஜவதேகர் உரையாடினார்.

• ஆல்ட் பாலாஜி, ஹாட்ஸ்டார், அமேசான் பிரைம், நெட்ஃபிக்ஸ், ஜியோ, ஜீ 5, வியாகாம் 18, ஷெமரூ, எம்எக்ஸ் பிளேயர், உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு ஓவர்-தி-டாப் (OTT) தளங்களின் பிரதிநிதிகளுடன் மத்திய தகவல் மற்றும் ஒளிபரப்பு அமைச்சர் பிரகாஷ் ஜவதேகர் உரையாடினார்.
• இதில், OTT தள உரிமையாளர்கள் முற்போக்கான நிறுவன அமைப்பை உருவாக்கவும், சுய ஒழுங்குமுறையில் ஒரு சமமான தளத்தை உருவாக்கவும்மற்றும் ஒரு பயனுள்ள குறை தீர்க்கும் நெறிமுறையை கட்டமைக்கவும் முடிவு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.
• OTT தளங்கள் அரசாங்கத்துடன் கட்டாயம் பதிவு செய்யவேண்டியதில்லை என்றும், எந்த அரசாங்க வேட்பாளரும் சுய ஒழுங்குமுறை அமைப்புக்குள் இருக்க மாட்டார்கள் என்றும் அமைச்சர் தெளிவுபடுத்தியுள்ளார்.

4. 2023 Declared as International Year of Millets by UN General Assembly

• The resolution titled ‘International Year of Millets 2023’ was initiated by India with Bangladesh, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria, Russia and Senegal was proposed in UN General Assembly.
• As the resolution was supported by 70 nations, it was put for voting in the UN General Assembly.
• The 193-member General Assembly unanimously adopted the resolution, declaring 2023 as the International Year of Millets.

4. 2023, ஐ.நா பொதுச் சபையால் சர்வதேச சிறுதாணியங்கள் ஆண்டாக அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

• ஐ.நா பொதுச் சபையில் வங்கதேசம், கென்யா, நேபாளம், நைஜீரியா, ரஷ்யா மற்றும் செனகல் ஆகிய நாடுகளுடன் ‘சர்வதேச சிறுதாணியங்கள் 2023’ என்ற தீர்மானம் இந்தியாவால் முன்மொழியப்பட்டது.
• இந்த தீர்மானத்தை 70 நாடுகள் ஆதரித்ததால், ஐ.நா பொதுச் சபையில் வாக்களிக்க வைக்கப்பட்டது.
• 193 உறுப்பினர்களைக் கொண்ட பொதுச் சபை தீர்மானத்தை ஒருமனதாக ஏற்றுக்கொண்டதால், 2023-ஐ சர்வதேச சிறுதாணியங்கள் ஆண்டாக ஐ.நா அறிவித்தது.

5. Union Ministry of Housing and Urban affairs released Ease of living index 2020.

• The rankings under Ease of Living Index 2020 were announced by Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for cities based on population.
• The assessment exercise was conducted in 2020 and overall 111 cities of the country participated in this exercise.
• Bengaluru emerged as the top performer followed by Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Surat, Navi Mumbai, Coimbatore, Vadodara, Indore, and Greater Mumbai in the category of million plus population.
• Shimla was ranked the highest followed by Bhubaneswar and Muzaffarpur in Bihar had the lowest score in the category of cities with less than a million people.
• From Tamilnadu, vellore and Trichy got the 6^th and 10^th places respectively in the category of cities with less than a million people

6. Union Ministry of Housing and Urban affairs released the Municipality Performance index 2020.

• The rankings under Municipality Performance Index 2020 were announced by Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for cities based on population.
• Indore topped the list, followed by Surat and Bhopal in the category of million plus population.
• New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) emerged as the leader, followed by Tirupati and Gandhinagar in the category of less than million population.
• Services, Finance, Policy, Technology and Governance were the five verticals used to measure the municipalities performances.

7. 12 Indian Institutions secured positions in top 100 in the QS Subject Rankings for the year 2021.

• Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal addressed at the unveiling of QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021 and the Minister expressed his happiness and congratulated 12 Indian Institutions on securing position in top 100 in the QS Subject Rankings for the year 2021.
• IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, IISC Bangalore, IIT Guwahati,, IIM Bangalore, IIM Ahmedabad, JNU, Anna University, University of Delhi, and O.P Jindal University are the 12 Indian institutions made it in the top 100 positions of the world.
• IIT Madras has been ranked 30th in the world for Petroleum Engineering, IIT Bombay has been ranked 41st and IIT Kharagpur has been ranked 44th in the world for Minerals and Mining Engineering, and University of Delhi has been ranked 50th in the world for Development Studies.

7. 2020-ம் ஆண்டிற்கான கியூஎஸ்(QS) பாடம் தரவரிசையின் முதல் 100 இடங்களில் 12 இந்திய கல்வி நிறுவனங்கள் இடம்பெற்றுள்ளன.

• ஐ.ஐ.டி மெட்ராஸ் பெட்ரோலிய பொறியியலில் உலகில் 30 வது இடத்தையும், ஐ.ஐ.டி பம்பாய் 41 வது இடத்தையும், ஐ.ஐ.டி கரக்பூர் தாதுக்கள் மற்றும் சுரங்க பொறியியலில் உலகில் 44 வது இடத்தையும், டெல்லி பல்கலைக்கழகம் மேம்பாடு ஆய்வுகளில் உலகில் 50 வது இடத்தையும் பெற்றுள்ளது.

8. Webinar on Production Linked Incentives scheme was addressed by PM Narendra Modi

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a webinar on Production Linked Incentives scheme organized by Department of Industry and International Trade and NITI Aayog through video conference.
• He said production linked incentive (PLI) scheme, which is aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing and exports, is expected to increase the country’s production by $520 billion in the next five years.
• An average of 5% of production is given as incentive, which means that PLI schemes will lead to production worth USD 520 billion in India in the next five years.

9. ArcelorMittal-Nippon Steel India and Odisha Government signed an MoU for setting up a 12 MT integrated steel plant in Odisha. 

• ArcelorMittal-Nippon Steel India and Odisha Government signed an MoU for setting up a 12 MT integrated steel plant in Kendrapada district of Odisha with an investment of ₹ 50000 crore on 4 March, 2021.
• This mega steel plant in Kendrapada is expected to bring a new wave of economic development and employment generation in Odisha and will give boost to the missions of Purvodaya and Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
• And also this plant will benefit from massive infrastructure developments in the region over the past six years such as expansion of Paradip port and setting up of Mahanadi riverine port etc.,

10. Amazon web services survey reported that India’s digital skilled workforce needs to grow nine-fold by 2025.

• According to a report commissioned by Amazon Web Services (AWS), India’s current workforce has only 12% digitally skilled employees, and the number of employees with digital skills in the country will need to increase nine-fold by 2025.
• The report titled ‘Unlocking APAC’s Digital Potential: Changing Digital Skill Needs and Policy Approaches’, said that nearly 150 million workers in six APAC countries apply digital skills on the job.
• The research was conducted across six countries in the APAC region, including Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore and South Korea.

10. அமேசான் வலை சேவைகள் கணக்கெடுப்பு, 2025 ஆம் ஆண்டில் இந்தியாவின் டிஜிட்டல் திறன் கொண்ட ஊழியர்கள் ஒன்பது மடங்கு வளர வேண்டும் என தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

• அமேசான் வலை சேவைகள் (AWS) அறிக்கையின்படி, இந்தியாவின் தற்போதைய தொழிலாளர் தொகுப்பில் 12% மட்டுமே டிஜிட்டல் திறன் கொண்ட ஊழியர்கள் உள்ளனர், மேலும் நாட்டில் டிஜிட்டல் திறன் கொண்ட ஊழியர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை 2025 க்குள் ஒன்பது மடங்கு அதிகரிக்க வேண்டும் என தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
• ‘ஆசிய பசிபிக் பகுதியில் டிஜிட்டல் ஆற்றல் திறத்தல்: டிஜிட்டல் திறன் தேவைகள் மற்றும் கொள்கை அணுகுமுறைகளை மாற்றுதல்’ என்ற தலைப்பிலான அறிக்கையில், ஆறு ஆசிய பசிபிக் நாடுகளில் கிட்டத்தட்ட 150 மில்லியன் தொழிலாளர்கள் தங்கள் பணியில் டிஜிட்டல் திறன்களைப் பயன்படுத்துகின்றனர் என தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
