  • Chief Minister of Manipur N Biren Singh launched a mobile application, “MOMA Market” for home delivery of fresh vegetables. The mobile application can be downloaded from momamarket.com and it will also be available on Google Play Store.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar launches ‘HIT Covid App’ to monitor COVID patients at home

  • Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar launched ‘HIT Covid App’ to ensure regular monitoring and tracking of those COVID-19 patients, who are in home isolation across the state. ‘HIT’ stands for home isolation tracking.
  • The health workers will visit the patients at their homes every day and feed data in the app after measuring their temperature and oxygen levels.

  • A Chandigarh-based startup Jupitice Justice Technologies had developed the world’s first private digital court under the Private Justice System (Alternative Dispute Resolution or ADR Mechanism), which brings India to the forefront of innovation in legal technology.
  • The platform is designed to find arbitrators, mediators and other justice service providers.

Himachal Pradesh Government launches ‘Ayush Ghar-Dwar’ wellness program for home isolated COVID-19 patients

  • AYUSH Department of the Himachal Pradesh Government had launched a state-wide wellness programme ‘AYUSH Ghar Dwar’ for COVID-19 patients in Sloan district, Himachal Pradesh.
  • The initiative aims to provide a holistic healthcare approach through AYUSH to ensure not only physical but also mental, social and spiritual wellbeing to COVID-19 patients.

Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs signed an MoU with Microsoft for the digital transformation of tribal schools

  • Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Microsoft have signed an MoU for the digital transformation of tribal schools such as Eklavya Model Residential Schools and Ashram Schools. The collaboration seeks to skill educators and students in next-generation digital technologies, including artificial intelligence.
  • Under the program, 250 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) have been adopted by Microsoft, out of which 50 EMRS schools will be given intensive training.

SEBI proposes a framework for gold exchange and suggests trading in e-gold receipts

  • Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) proposed an elaborate framework for setting up a gold exchange wherein the yellow metal will be traded in the form of Electronic Gold Receipts (EGR) and will help in having a transparent domestic spot price discovery mechanism.
  • Also, the proposed denominations — reflecting underlying physical gold — of Electronic Gold Receipts (EGRs) are 1 kilogram, 100 grams, 50 grams and subject to conditions, those can also be even for 5 and 10 grams.

  • US pharmaceutical company Johnson and Johnson had joined hands with Telangana-based Biological E Limited for the manufacturing of COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine named Janssen COVID-19 is currently approved in the US, Europe and other nations, including Thailand and South Africa.

CCI approves sale of Yes Bank’s mutual funds’ subsidiaries to GPL Finance and Investments

  • Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved the acquisition of Yes Asset Management (India) Limited and Yes Trustee Limited by GPL Finance and Investments Limited.
  • GPL Finance is a non-deposit-taking & non-systemically important NBFC.

Iran develops its first completely self-developed Supercomputer named “Simorgh”

  • Iran developer’s new supercomputer “Simorgh” will provide large-scale data processing services for a range of state-run and private scientific research.
  • It will also be used for artificial intelligence analysis, crunching traffic and weather data, and image processing, among other things.
  • The supercomputer was developed indigenously by Tehran’s Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT). The supercomputer has a performance capacity of 56 petaflops.

  • Former Union Minister Chaman Lal Gupta passed away due to prolonged illness. He was a member of the J&K Legislative Assembly for the first time in 1972.
  • He served as a Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries and Union Minister of State for Defence.

Renowned Tamil writer and Sahitya Akademi award recipient K Rajanarayanan passed away at 98

  • Renowned Tamil writer, novelist and recipient of Sahitya Akademi award, K Rajanarayan, popularly known as KiRa, passed away at the age of 98.
  • He won the Sahitya Akademi award in 1991 for his novel Gopallapurathu Makkal. He was known for the depiction of the people and culture of ‘Karisal bhoomi’ — the hot and dry land of southern Tamil Nadu.
