World Zoonoses Day – 06 July
- World Zoonoses Day is observed annually on 06 July to commemorate the first vaccination administered against a zoonotic disease like Ebola, Avian influenza and West Nile virus. Zoonosis is an infectious disease that spreads from non-human animals to humans.
- The first vaccination against a zoonotic disease was successfully administered on 06 July 1885 by a French biologist, Louis Pasteur.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates the Co-WIN Global Conclave 2021
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Co-Win Global Conclave 2021 as India presented the indigenously developed Co-WIN platform to the representatives from 142 countries of the world at the virtual global meet.
- Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Harsh Vardhan chaired the inaugural session and shared India’s learnings and experiences with regards to planning, strategising and executing the world’s largest vaccination drive through the Co-WIN platform.
President Ram Nath Kovind appoints new Governors for 8 states
- President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed new governors for eight states. While many governors were transferred to new states, others were new appointments.
- PS Sreedharan Pillai, who was the Governor of Mizoram, was transferred and appointed as the new Governor of Goa.
- Satyadeo Narain Arya, who was the Governor of Haryana, was transferred and appointed as the new Governor of Tripura.
- Ramesh Bais, who was Governor of Tripura, was transferred and appointed as the new Governor of Jharkhand.
- Thaawarchand Gehlot was appointed as the new Governor of Karnataka.
- Bandaru Dattatraya, who was the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, was transferred and appointed as the new Governor of Haryana.
- Hari Babu Kambhampati was appointed as the new Governor of Mizoram.
- Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel was appointed as the new Governor of Madhya Pradesh.

The 52nd edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is scheduled to be held in Goa
- The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is reckoned as one of Asia’s oldest and India’s biggest international film festivals. The 52nd edition of IFFI will be held in Goa from November 2021.
- The festival is being organised by the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF), Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in collaboration with the Goa Government and the Indian Film Industry.

Union Ministry of Education launches NIPUN Bharat Mission
- Union Ministry of Education has launched the NIPUN (National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy) Bharat Mission to help children attain foundational literacy.
- The main objective of the NIPUN Bharat Mission is to create an enabling environment to ensure the universal acquisition of foundational literacy and numeracy so that every child achieves the desired learning competencies in reading, writing and numeracy by the end of Grade 3, by 2026–27.
Cochin International Airport launches a flood mitigation project named ‘Operation Pravaah’
- The Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has rolled out ‘Operation Pravaah’, a multifaceted infrastructure programme scoping to integrate flood mitigation projects already initiated by CIAL with the District Administration and various local self-governments at one platform.

- NTPC and ONGC had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to accelerate their footprint in the renewable energy space. This MoU assumes significance in view of almost doubling the target of renewable energy capacity addition to 60 GW by 2032.
