  • India’s first medical city named ‘Indrayani Medicity’ will be set up in Pune, Maharashtra. It will not only provide medical education and research facilities, but also all kinds of specialty treatment under one roof.
  • This medical city will offer medical education and contain research institutes. Treatment in the medical city will be provided at affordable rates to citizens.

India signs an agreement with Sri Lanka to build a solar power plant in Sri Lanka

  • India and Sri Lanka have signed an agreement for developing a 100 MW solar power plant in Sri Lanka’s eastern port district of Trincomalee.
  • This agreement is to strengthen bilateral economic partnership, including cooperation in the renewable energy sector between the two countries.

RBI lifts restrictions on HDFC Bank’s new digital business generation and allows HDFC’s Digital 2.0 programme

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) lifted all restrictions on HDFC Bank’s new digital business generation and allowed HDFC’s Digital 2.0 programme.
  • These restrictions were imposed by the Reserve Bank of India in December 2020. RBI decided to impose curbs on the HDFC Bank and restricted it from bringing any new planned announcement under what is known as the Digital 2.0 programme.

EPFO lowers the interest rate on provident fund deposits to 8.1 per cent for 2021–22

  • The interest rate on employees’ provident fund deposits was cut to a four-decade low of 1 per cent for 2021–22 fiscal from 8.5 per cent in 2020–21.
  • This is the lowest interest rate since 1977–78 on deposits that employees make towards their retirement fund. The interest rate on employees provident fund in 1977–78 stood at 8 per cent.
  • This 8.1 per cent interest rate was recommended by the Central Board of Trustees (CBT) after its meeting in Guwahati under the chairmanship of Union Labour and Employment Minister Bhupendra Yadav.

  • Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) to provide its techno-financial expertise for the solarisation of CIPET academic campuses.
  • These two organisations, IREDA and CIPET, are under the Union Ministry of New & Renewable Energy and the Union Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers

  • UCO Bank is set to acquire three per cent stake in India Debt Resolution Company Limited (IDRCL) for ₹ 1.50 crores.

  • Tamilnadu Petroproducts Limited (TPL) has received the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for its linear alkylbenzene (LAB) product from the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals under the Union Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers.
  • With this BIS certification, TPL became the world’s first LAB manufacturer to be accredited with BIS 12795:2020 certification.

Jammu and Kashmir Bank wins the National Award for Outstanding Performance from the Union Rural Development Ministry

  • Union Ministry of Rural Development has awarded Jammu and Kashmir Bank with the National Award for Outstanding Performance for FY 2020–21.
  • Jammu and Kashmir Bank’s Delhi Zonal Head Kirti Sharma received the national award on behalf of J&K Bank from the Union Minister for Rural Development Giriraj Singh.
