NATIONAL

Prime Minister lays foundation stone of several projects worth 3700 crore rupees in Bihar:

Mr. Modi laid the foundation stone of various projects worth 3700 crore rupees.

The projects include four sewerage projects under Namami Gange and four National Highway projects. These projects include a six-lane bridge over river Ganga.

The four National Highway projects for which the foundation stone was laid include four lanning of Aunta – Simaria section and Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama section of NH-31.

In addition, foundation stone has been laid for two-lane construction of Maheshkhunt- Saharsa- Purnea section of NH 107 and Biharsharif- Barbigha- Mokama section of NH 82.

The four sewerage projects include Sewage Treatment Plant at Beur, Sewerage System with Sewer Network at Beur, Sewage Treatment Plant at Karmalichak and Sewage Treatment Plant and Sewer Network at Saidpur.

Rajasthan assembly first in India to call motions online:

Going digital, the Rajasthan assembly has become the first in India to call attention and adjournment motions and proposals online from legislators to send them to the state government.

Speaker Kailash Meghwal inaugurated the new system by sending a call for an attention motion to the state government with a click of a mouse.

The system is expected to save time, labour and use of paper in the functioning of the assembly, and help legislators in bringing attention to urgent public issues.

Launch of Mobile Health App `MedWatch’ By the Indian Air Force:

On the occasion of its 85th anniversary, the Indian Air Force has launched an innovative mobile health App named `MedWatch’ in keeping with the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Digital India’.

‘MedWatch’, available on the IAF’s AFCEL network, comprises a host of features that will provide authentic health information to all IAF personnel. A Reminder Tool to enable timely immunization for the children of all Air Warriors is an important component of the App. This will directly enable ‘Mission Indradhanush’ of the Govt of India.


Lt Governor Joshi launches Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana:

The weeklong celebration of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ by the Department of Social Welfare, A&N Administration, in coordination with the A&N State Social Welfare Board culminated with a valedictory function and the launch of ‘Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana’ at DBRAIT auditorium in Port Blair.

01st January 2017. PMMVY is implemented by the Ministry of Women & Child Development in collaboration with State Governments that will benefit women across the country.


Bihar Cabinet approves reservation for ‘Divyangs’ in Govt Jobs:

The Bihar Cabinet approved reservations for persons with disabilities in government jobs and educational institutions.

The cabinet gave its approval during a meeting presided by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

The provision has been brought in accordance with the Persons With Disabilities Act, 2016.The cabinet also approved the establishment of a state advisory board for the empowerment of ‘Divyangjan’ as envisaged in the Act.

MITRA SHAKTI 2017 joint military Exercise started:

The India – Sri Lanka joint training exercise MITRA SHAKTI 2017 in its fifth edition conducted at Aundh Military Station, Pune will send a strong signal to the world that both India and Sri Lanka understand the emerging threat of terrorism and stand shoulder to shoulder in countering this menace. The exercise will be conducted for next 14 days upto 26 Oct 17 & will involve sharing and learning from each other’s experiences.

GIC Re launches India’s third largest IPO:

General Insurance Corp of India (GIC Re) kicked off its mega Rs 11,370 crore initial public offer. This is India’s third biggest IPO ever after Coal India’s Rs 15,200 crore and Reliance Power’s Rs 11,700 crore issues.

M K Sanu for Mathrubhumi literary award:

Eminent critic, biographer and orator M K Sanu has been chosen for the Mathrubhumi Literary Award for 2016 in recognition of his rich contribution to the Malayalam literature.      The award carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, a citation and a statuette.


Esther Staubli becomes first female referee to officiate FIFA U-17 World Cup match:

FIFA’s objective to further develop women’s football, a new milestone has been achieved as Esther Staubli became first female referee to officiate a match at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in India.

Satish Chandra Historian passes away:

Veteran historian of medieval India and noted educational administrator Satish Chandra passed away. He was 95.

World Student Day- October 15th:

United Nations Organisation (U.N.O) declared October 15th, 2010, Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s Birthday as the “WORLD STUDENTS DAY“. President Ram Nath Kovind received the Kalam Sandesh Vahini: Vision 2020 bus during the 86th birth anniversary celebrations of Kalam at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.


Global Hand Washing Day- October 15th:

Global Handwashing Day (GHD) is a campaign to motivate and mobilize people around the world to improve their handwashing habits by washing their hands with soap at critical moments throughout each day.

Global Handwashing Day takes place on 15 October of each year. The global campaign is dedicated to raising awareness of handwashing with soap.

The 2017 Global Handwashing Day theme is “Our hands, our future!”.


International Day of Rural Women- October 15th:

 International Day of Rural Women is celebrated on October 15th .The crucial role that women and girls play in ensuring the sustainability of rural households and communities, improving rural livelihoods and overall wellbeing, has been increasingly recognized. Women account for a substantial proportion of the agricultural labour force, including informal work, and perform the bulk of unpaid care and domestic work within families and households in rural areas.

2017 Theme: “Challenges and opportunities in climate-resilient agriculture for gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls”.
