 Karnataka cabinet approves transgender policy:

 The Karnataka cabinet has cleared the State Policy for Transgenders, 2017 with an aim of bringing the community into the mainstream and safeguarding them from exploitation. The policy had been drafted in compliance with a Supreme Court order, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra.

INTERNATIONAL

India and ADB Singed $65.5 million loan to support Costal Erosion in Karnataka:

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India signed a $65.5 million loan agreement in the national capital to continue interventions to check coastal erosion on the Western Coast in Karnataka.

The loan is the Second Tranche of a $250 million financing facility under the Sustainable Coastal Protection and Management Investment Program. The financing will be used to address the immediate coastal protection needs and for strengthening institutional capacity of Karnataka’s Public Works, Ports and Inland Water Transport Department.


Visit of Foreign Minister of Tunisia for the 12th Session of India Tunisia Joint Commission Meeting :

The Foreign Minister of Tunisia Mr. Khemaies Jhinaoui is visiting India from 28th to 31st October 2017 for co-chairing the 12th India-Tunisia Joint Commission Meeting along with Smt. Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister of India. He will be accompanied by a high-level business delegation representing diverse areas of business, trade and investments.

India and France to Strengthen Bilateral Defence Cooperation as a Key Pillar of Their Strategic Partnership:

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi said defence cooperation is one of the key pillars of the strategic partnership between India and France, following his meeting with the French minister of armed forces, Florence Parley.

Parley briefed the Prime Minister about developments in bilateral defence cooperation. Modi also called for greater cooperation within the ‘Make in India’ framework for defence manufacturing and joint research and development.

Burundi becomes first country to leave International Criminal Court:

 Burundi is becoming the first country to withdraw from the International Criminal Court. Burundi is the only one of three African nations to go ahead with its withdrawal after making moves last year to leave amid accusations that the court focuses too much on the continent.

World’s First Hydrogen tram begins Operating in china:

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos overtakes Bill Gates as the world’s richest man, again:

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has overtaken Bill Gates and is now the richest person in the world, with a fortune topping $90 billion for the first time ever.

When markets opened, Bezos had a net worth of $90.6 billion, putting him $500 million ahead of Microsoft founder Bill Gates.


RIL First Indian Company to hit 6 trillion:

 Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) became the first Indian company to cross Rs 6 trillion market capitalization after its shares surged over 75% so far this year and hit a fresh lifetime high.

Currently, its market cap is at Rs 6.02 trillion. The recent rally in the stock was due to tariff hike by its telecom arm Reliance Jio which, analysts expect, will improve the company’s profitability.

 Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) received an award from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for supporting start-ups.

The premier Institute received the award for its contribution towards promoting and mentoring technology start-ups.

National Ayurveda Day: October 28th

On the occasion of National Ayurveda Day, the Ministry of AYUSH is organizing a one-day National Seminar on ‘’Prevention and Control of Diabetes through Ayurveda’’ on 28th October 2016 at New Delhi.

The Ministry of AYUSH is also going to launch “Mission Madhumeha through Ayurveda” on the occasion. The Mission Madhumeha will be implemented throughout the country through a specially designed National Treatment Protocol for effective management of Diabetes through Ayurveda.


 International Animation Day: October 28th

In 2002, ASIFA, the International Animated Film Association, launched a global event to celebrate the art of animation. October 28th was proclaimed as International Animation Day (IAD), commemorating the first public performance of Emile Reynaud’s Theatre Optique at the Grevin Museum in Paris in 1892.
