Dare To Solve Day 1
Dear Bankersdaily Aspirants,
Amar, Vasanth and Jai are three workers, employed by a contractor. They completed the whole work in 10 days. Initially all of them worked together, but the last 60%of the work was completed by only Vasanth and Jai together. Amar worked with Vasanth and Jai only for initial two days then he left the work due to his poo health. Also Vasanth takes 20% less time to finish the work alone than that of Jai working alone. If they were paid Rs. 3000 for the entire work, then what is the share of least efficient person?
Explanation:
Given:
Total Working Piece |
Number of Days | Number of Persons |
Efficiency |
1000 Pieces | 10 days | 3 persons | 100 |
60 % Work
600 Pieces |
8 days | 2 Persons | 75 |
40 % of Work
400 Pieces |
2 days | 3 Persons | 200 |
From above it is clear that the Efficiency of Amar is 125=(200-75)
Given that Vasanth takes 20% less time than Jai,
Therefore
TIME:
If Jai takes X days,Vasanth takes (4/5)X days
EFFICIENCY:
Efficiency is Inversely Proportional to Time.
Jai’s Efficiency is X and Vasanth’s Efficiency is (5/4)X
X +(5/4 )X=75
(4X+5X)/4=75
9X=75 × 4
X=(75 × 4)/9
X=33.33%
Vasanth’s Efficiency = =41.6%
Jai is Least Efficient=33.33%
Therefore Share of Jai is=RS.1000

Could you please let me know whether the answer is correct. I’m getting answer as 500
Lets assume the total work is 120
40% of 120 = 48 is completed by A, V and J in 2 days
2(A+V+J)=48
Remaining 72 work is completed by V and J in 8 days
8(V+J)=72
V can complete 5 work in a day(20% less time than J) whereas J can complete 4 work in a day
So A can complete 15 work in a day
J share = 4/24*3000 = 500
Hi Minu,
First of all we are appreciating you for asking your query because only when u ask it will be given.
Your Concept is correct but i think at the last step you commit a Mistake have you Identified,Ok let me explain
In the last Step you have written as 4/24 * 3000 =500
I think you would get a clear idea if i explain with an example
Let us consider A invests Rs.1000 in a buisness and B joined him After 6 months and invests Rs.500 in a buisness and at the end of the year they earned a profit of Rs.12000.Then what is A’s Share?
We will solve this sum as:
A invest for 12 month therefore A’s invests=12000
After 6 month B joined him so B Invests=500*6=3000
Profit=12000
A’s Profit is calculated as=(Profit * A’s Share)/(A+B share)
=(12000 *!2000)/15000
A’s Profit Share =9600
B’s Profit is Calculated as=(12000 * 3000)/15000
b’s Profit Share=2400
I think now you get what i am trying to say,
In our Problem we have given that Amar work for only 2 day But Jai and Vasanth works for 10 days
Therefore, their Total work are in the Ratio=Amar:Vasanth:Jai
=15*2:5*10:4*10
=30:50:40
Wage=Rs.3000
Jai is a person whose efficiency is low so,we are calculating the wage of Jai
Therefore Wage of Jai=3000*40/120
=3000/3
=Rs.1000
I think now your doubt is cleared if not then send your query our Bankersdaily team is always with you to help you.Your Queries are always welcome
Thanks for the explanation 🙂 Now I understood the mistake I have committed..
