1. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin announces kuruvai cultivation package

• Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin announced scheme to benefit farmers in the Cauvery delta region region to facilitate kuruvai cultivation by providing input and equipment subsidies.
• The scheme is to be implemented at the cost of 61.09 crore, out of which Rs. 50 crore for providing farm equipment to farmers on subsidies, another Rs. 11.09 crore would be spent for effective use of water.
• The scheme would be implemented completely in Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur districts and partly in Cuddalore, Ariyalur and Tiruchi
• Kuruvai sowing season is from June to July.

1. தமிழ்நாடு முதல்வர் மு. க. ஸ்டாலின் குறுவை நெல் சாகுபடி தொகுப்பு திட்டத்தை அறிவித்துள்ளார்

• குறுவை சாகுபடிக்கு உதவும் வகையில் காவிரி டெல்டா மாவட்ட விவசாயிகளுக்கு இடுபொருட்கள் மற்றும் வேளாண் இயந்திரங்களை மானியத்தில் வழங்கும் குறுவை நெல் சாகுபடி தொகுப்பு திட்டத்தை தமிழ்நாடு முதல்வர் மு.க.ஸ்டாலின் அறிவித்தார்.
• மொத்தம் ரூ. 61.09 கோடி மதிப்பீடு கொண்ட இத்திட்டத்தில் முக்கிய இடுபொருட்கள் மற்றும் வேளாண் இயந்திரங்களை விவசாயிகளுக்கு மானியத்தில் வழங்க, அரசு ரூ. 50 கோடி நிதியினையும், நீரைத் திறம்படச் சேமித்து பயிர் சாகுபடிக்குப் பயன்படுத்த, ரூ. 11.09 கோடி நிதியினையும் வழங்க உள்ளது.

2. Farmers export GI-certified Jalgaon banana to Dubai

• GI-certified Jalgaon banana were exported to Dubai. Jalgaon banana is the native of Jalgaon district of Maharashtra. It is known as ‘Banana city of India’. It received GI Tag in 2016.
• India is the world’s leading producer of bananas, accounting for 25% of global output. APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) promotes exports of agricultural and processed food products.

APEDA

• Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) was established by the Government of India under the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act, 1985. It works under the Ministry of Commerce and Industries. It promotes export of agricultural and processed food products from India. APEDA replaced the Processed Food Export Promotion Council (PFEPC).

GI Tag

• Geographical Indication (GI) Tag registration is done under the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999. The first product to be accorded with GI tag in India was Darjeeling tea in 2004.

• World’s most expensive mango variety Miyazaki mango grown in Madhya Pradesh, bore fruits. Miyazaki mango or Eggs of the Sun mango variety was priced at Rs. 3 lakh last year.
• The Miyazaki mango is grown in Japan and has 15% or higher sugar content and anti-oxidants. It is called the Miyazaki mango and is grown in the Miyazaki city of Japan. This mango is popular in India and Southeast Asia. Miyazaki mango is flaming red and actually shaped like a giant dinosaur egg.Mango is called the ‘King of Fruits’.

• Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab officials, inspect Shahpur Kandi Dam Project in Kathua district. Shahpur Kandi Dam is being built across the Ravi river in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.
• Two dams – Ranjith Sagar Dam in the upstream and Shahpur Kandi Dam at the downstream of Ravi river were built for the complete use of water of Ravi river according to the Indus river water treaty, 1960. Ranjith Sagar Dam is located in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir border and Shahpur Kandi Dam is located in Jammu and Kashmir.

6. Sathya Natella becomes the Chairman of Microsoft

• Satya Nadella, Indian-origin CEO of Microsoft became the Chairman of Microsoft. He will act as CEO and the Chairman of the company. Satya Nadella is to take over as the chairman after Bill Gates and John Thompson.
• John W Thompson was elected as the lead independent director, which he held from 2012 to 2014. Natella becomes the first person after the co-founder of the company, Bill Gates held both CEO and Chaitman position in 2000.

6. மைக்ரோசாப்ட் நிறுவன தலைவராகியுள்ளார் சத்யா நாதெள்ளா

• மைக்ரோசாப்ட் நிறுவனத்தின் தலைவராக இந்திய வம்சாவளியைச் சேர்ந்த சத்யா நாதெள்ளா நியமிக்கப்பட்டார். அவர் தலைமை நிர்வாக அதிகாரியாகவும் நிறுவனத்தின் தலைவராகவும் செயல்படுவார். பில் கேட்ஸ் மற்றும் ஜான் தாம்சனுக்குப் பிறகு சத்ய நாதெள்ளா தலைவராக பொறுப்பேற்க உள்ளார்.

7. Romania banned from Tokyo Olympics over doping cases

• Romania became the fourth country to be barred from the Tokyo weightlifting competition by the International Weightlifting Federation for one year after Egypt, Malaysia and Thailand due to doping cases. 15 countries with past doping cases can send only a limited number of athletes to Tokyo Olympics.

Olympics:

• Tokyo Summer Olympics was originally planned to be held at 2020, but was postpoed to 2021 due to COVID-19. Japan was the first Asian country to host Olympics in 1940, which was later shifted to Finland and finally cancelled.
• Olympics is held every four years since 1948. The first modern Olympics was held in Athens (Greece) in 1896. Till now, Olympics has been cancelled thrice – 1916, 1940 and 1944 due to World wars.

• டோக்கியோ கோடைக்கால ஒலிம்பிக் முதலில் 2020இல் நடத்த திட்டமிடப்பட்டது. ஆனால் கோவிட்-19 காரணமாக 2021க்கு மாற்றப்பட்டது. 1940இல் ஒலிம்பிக்கை நடத்திய முதல் ஆசிய நாடு ஜப்பான் ஆகும். இது பின்னர் பின்லாந்திற்கு மாற்றப்பட்டு இறுதியாக ரத்து செய்யப்பட்டது.

8. Autistic Pride Day – 18 June

• Autistic Pride Day is observed every year on 18 June. This day is observed to raise awareness about the people who suffer from a disorder called Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This day was first celebrated by a group named ‘Aspies for Freedom’ in 2005 in Brazil. This is a community created specifically for Autistic people and led by them. According to the World Health Organization, one in 160 children has this disorder.

Autism:

• Autism is a neurological developmental disability that affects the development of the normal brain, hampers communication, social interaction, cognition, and behaviour.
• Autism is also known as a spectrum disorder because its symptoms and characteristics appear in a variety of combinations that affect children in various ways.

8. ஆட்டிஸ்டிக் பிரைட் தினம் – 18 ஜூன்

9. Jhansi Rani Laxmibai’s death anniversary – 18 June

• Laxmibai’s birth name was Her father, Moropant Tambe, was the commander of Peshwa Baji Rao II. Manikarnika was married to Gangadhar Rao Newalkar who was the Maharaja of Jhansi in 1842.
• She died on 18 June 1857, during the 1857 revolt , which is known as the ‘First War of Indian Independence’. British officer Hugh Rose described Lakshmi Bai as the “best and bravest military leader of the rebels”.

9. ஜான்சி ராணி லக்ஷ்மிபாயின் நினைவு நாள் – 18 ஜூன்

• லக்ஷ்மிபாயின் இயற்பெயர்  மணிகர்ணிகா ஆகும். அவரது தந்தை மொரோபந்த் தம்பே இரண்டாம் பேஷ்வா பாஜிராவின் தளபதியாக இருந்தார். மணிகர்ணிகா  1842இல் ஜான்சியின் மகாராஜாவாக  இருந்த கங்காதர் ராவ் நியூவால்கரை திருமணம் செய்து கொண்டார்.
• அவர் 18 ஜூன் 1857இல், முதல் இந்திய சுதந்திரப் போர் என்று அழைக்கப்படும் 1857ஆம் ஆண்டு கிளர்ச்சியின் போது இறந்தார்.  பிரிட்டிஷ் அதிகாரி ஹக் ரோஸ், “கிளர்ச்சியாளர்களில் லக்ஷ்மிபாய் மிகச் சிறந்த தைரியம் மிக்க தலைவரென” லக்ஷ்மிபாயைப் பற்றி குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்.
