Customs and Postal Department hold First ever Joint Conference to deliberate on streamlining imports and exports by post:

Indian Customs and Department of India Posts held a First ever Joint Conference at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.

To cater to the SMEs and to boost the Make in India program, Customs Department proposes new simplified procedures for exports and imports through India Post.

Commissioners of Customs from all the States having Foreign Post Offices (FPOs) were present along with their counterpart Post Master Generals.

Imports and exports by post are the 6th highest cited citizen grievances under CPGRAMs.


Maharashtra signs MoU with Centre’s GRIHA council for green buildings:

The Maharashtra government signed a MoU with the Centres Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) Council to train state PWD officials to rate government buildings.

As per the agreement signed, the GRIHA Council, a green rating body under the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, would train PWD’s civil and electrical engineers and architects to rate government buildings as per its parameters.

Kerala and NTPC sign MoU for increasing solar power generation

The Kerala State Electricity Board has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Thermal Power Corporation for increasing solar power generation in the state.

The MoU, signed, also includes an agreement to set up a 15 MW solar power unit at the NTPCNSE -0.62 % complex in Kayamkulam.

NTPC Director (Commercial) A K Gupta and KSEB CMD N S Pillai signed the MoU in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and state power minister M M Mani.

Government departments earmark Rs 16,500 crore for Swachh Bharat Mission in 2018-19:

A sum of Rs 16,500 crore has been earmarked by 71 ministries and departments of the central government for implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) in 2018-19.

The Swachhata Action Plan (SAP) 2018-19 was launched by Cabinet Secretary P K Sinha.

India and Peru Signs an Agreement in Field of Renewable Energy at Lima:

India and Peru signed an agreement in the field of Renewable Energy at Lima, Peru.

The pact was signed in the presence of Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and the Prime Minister Cesar Villanueva Arevalo.

Punjab signs MoU with UK for setting up bio-gas, bio CNG plants:

The Punjab government signed a pact with the UK for setting up of bio-gas and bio-CNG plants in the state.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal and Andrew Ayre, deputy high commissioner, to find sustainable solutions to paddy straw burning, which has become a major environmental concern.

MoU has been signed with Rika Biofuels Development Ltd UK by Punjab Bureau of Industrial Promotion (PBIP) and Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA).

PM Modi’s third Nepal visit starts off bus service between Janakpur and Ayodhya:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepalese counterpart K P Sharma Oli jointly inaugurated a direct bus service between Janakpur and Ayodhya – the two sacred cities for Hindus.

The Indian government has identified 15 destinations in India for development under the Ramayana Circuit theme namely Ayodhya, Nandigram, Shringverpur & Chitrakoot (Uttar Pradesh), Sitamarhi, Buxar & Darbhanga (Bihar), Chitrakoot (Madhya Pradesh), Mahendragiri (Odisha), Jagdalpur (Chattisgarh), Nashik & Nagpur (Maharashtra), Bhadrachalam (Telangana), Hampi (Karnataka) and Rameshwaram (Tamil Nadu).

U.S. cancels carbon monitoring project:

A NASA programme that cost $10 million per year to track carbon and methane, key greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming, has been cancelled.

The end of the programme is called the Carbon Monitoring System (CMS), which tracked sources and sinks for carbon and made high-resolution models of the planet’s flows of carbon was first reported by the journal Science.

RBI puts Dena Bank under prompt corrective action:

Reserve Bank has initiated prompt corrective action against public sector lender Dena Bank in view of high non-performing loans, restricting the bank from giving fresh credit and new hiring.

The public sector lender reported widening of its net loss to Rs 1,225.42 crore in the March quarter on mounting bad loans and higher provisioning to cover them.

India’s growth to accelerate to 7.3% in next fiscal, says Fitch:

Credit rating agency Fitch has said that India’s economic growth will accelerate to 7.3 per cent in the current financial year ending March 2019 (FY19) and 7.5 per cent in the next fiscal (FY20).

Pawan Kumar Agarwal gets extension as CEO FSSAI:

Pawan Kumar Agarwal was given three months extension as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

He was appointed as the CEO of the FSSAI in December 2015.
