PM Narendra Modi launches ‘Ghar Tak Fibre’ Scheme and lays foundation stone for 9 highway projects in Bihar:
- Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the “Ghar Tak Fibre” project, under which all the 45,945 villages of Bihar will be connected through Optical Fibre Internet Service. He also laid the foundation stone of nine highway projects worth 14,258 crore in Bihar through video conferencing.

Centre Approves an Outlay of Rs 600 crore for PM Svanidhi Scheme:
- Government of India has approved a total outlay of 600 crores for the PM SVANidhi scheme. This was informed by Minister of State (I/C) for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Hardeep Singh Puri.
- The Prime Minister Street Vendor’s Amta Nirbhar Nidhi Scheme (PM SVANidhi) was launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has on 01 June 2020.
Government Increases minimum support price for wheat and five other rabi crops:
- Union Government has announced an increase in the Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for all mandated Rabi crops. MSP of 6 Rabi crops including Wheat, Chana, Masoor, Mustard, Jowar and Safflower has been hiked in the range of 50 to 300 rupees.
Southern Railway’s Chennai Division launches “Freight Seva” app:
- Chennai Division of Southern Railways (SR) has launched an in-house mobile application Freight Seva to serve customers better. The app will be a one stop destination for information needs, and have requisite details for access by freight customers.

Civil Aviation Ministry approves 78 new routes under UDAN, sanctions Rs 108 crore for up-gradation of 3 airports in Chhattisgarh:
- Ministry of Civil Aviation identified and approved 78 new routes under the first phase of UDAN 4.0 (UdeDeshkaAamNagrik). Airports Authority of India, the Implementing Agency is in the process of awarding these routes to the Selected Airline Operators (SAOs).
- Government has sanctioned Rs 108 crore under UDAN for up-gradation of 3 Chhattisgarh Airports. ₹48 crore have been allocated for Jagdalpur, ₹27 crore for Ambikapur and ₹33 crore for Bilaspur under UDAN scheme for upgradation and development.

Nutrition park to be set up in Chandrasekharapuram, Namakkal:
- Steps are being taken up to set up a nutrition park in Chandrasekharapuram, Namakkal. This is part of the National Nutrition Month programme undertaken in Tamil Nadu. 3acre ground has been identified for organic drumstick cultivation in Namakkal district.

- State Bank of India (SBI) Life Insurance signed a bancassurance agreement with YES Bank to provide a range of insurance solutions to the customers of YES Bank across the nation. YES Bank aims to provide financial security to its customers and reduce the protection gap in india.
SBI Card collaborates with Google to enable cardholders to make payments “Tap-to-pay” through Google Pay:
- SBI Credit Cards to make card payments using the Google Pay app on their Android smartphones, SBI Card (legally- SBI Cards and Payment Services Limited) has collaborated with Google.
- It will enable users to safely transact with their cards and use Tap-to-pay feature on Near-Field Communication (NFC)-enabled Point Of Sale (POS) terminals and online merchants.
Finance ministry expects India’s nominal GDP to grow 19% in FY22:
- India’s economy is likely to bounce back to grow by as much as 19% in nominal terms in FY22, albeit on a low base, as per, chief economic advisor Krishnamurthy Subramanian in the finance ministry.
Kazakhstan Financial Regulator Cancels Licence of PNB Subsidiary:
- State-owned Punjab National Bank (PNB) stated the financial regulator of Kazakhstan has revoked licence of its associate for failure to meet prudential standards and other mandatory norms. PNB holds 64 per cent in JSC Tengri Bank, the bank stated in a regulatory filing. JSC Tengri Bank has nine branches in Kazakhstan.

NITI Aayog and Indian School of Public Policy join hands for capacity building:
- Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO) of the Aayog has signed a statement of intent with the ISPP to build collaboration for faster intermediation of knowledge and use within the public system.
- To provide training, mentoring and other activities to strengthen the knowledge, ability, skills of Government Officials and public policy scholars.

Rajesh Verma gets One-year extension as head of Company Law Committee:
- Ministry of Corporate Affairs has extended the tenure of the Company Law Committee by one year until September 2021. Corporate affairs secretary Rajesh Verma is the present chairperson of the committee.
- The 11-member committee has a mandate to submit periodic recommendations to the government in phases and subject-wise, as may be decided by the chairman.

PM Narendra Modi awarded Ig Nobel Prize 2020 for medical education:
- Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi won the Medical Education Prize of Ig Nobel Prize 2020 at the 30th First Nobel Prize Ceremony over virtual platform.
- Modi became the 2nd Prime Minister from India to win the Ig Nobel Prize after Atal Bihari Vajpayee who won the 1998 Peace award for “Aggressively peaceful explosion of atomic bombs”.
- Besides Modi, the medical education prize was jointly awarded to Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil, Boris Johnson of the United Kingdom, Andrés Manuel López Obrador of Mexico, Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus, Donald Trump of the USA, Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, Vladimir Putin of Russia, and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow of Turkmenistan.

Assam musician Bibhuranjan Choudhury Passes away at 71:
- Renowned Music composer, singer, lyricist and actor Bibhuranjan Choudhury passed away at the age of 71 years due to cancer. Choudhury composed the music of Guwahati Doordarshan’s first serial ‘Jibonor Batot’, retired as the superintendent of the Assam State Film (Finance and Development) Corporation.
Nepal Mountaineer Ang Rita Sherpa, first Person to climb Mount Everest 10 times, passes away at 72:
- Nepal-based Ang Rita Sherpa, the first man to climb Mount Everest 10 times, has passed away suffering brain and liver ailments for a long time. He was 72. He was therefore also known as the “Snow Leopard” for his climbing skills.
Former Canadian Prime Minister John Turner Passed Away at 91:
- Canada’s 17th Prime Minister John Turner has died at the age of 91. He served as the Prime Minister for just 79 days in 1984, the 2nd shortest term in the office recorded in the history of Canada.

Simona Halep wins first title in Rome after Karolina Pliskova retires injured; Italian Open 2020:
- World number two Simona Halep won her first Italian Open title after defending champion Karolina Pliskova retired while trailing 6-0, 2-1. Simona was competing in her third Rome WTA final, having finished runner-up in 2017 and 2018 on the clay at the Foro Italico.
Novak Djokovic wins fifth Italian Open by defeating Argentine Diego Schwartzman to make Masters History:
- World number one Novak Djokovic overcame a sluggish start to lift his fifth Italian Open title defeating Argentine Diego Schwartzman 7-5 6-3 for a record 36th ATP Masters crown.
