1. Prime Minister launches distribution of e-property cards under SWAMITVA scheme

• Prime Minister launched the distribution of e-property cards under SWAMITVA scheme. It enables the property cards issued under the scheme, to be generated online.

SVAMITVA Scheme

• SVAMITVA (Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) scheme was launched by Prime Minister on 24 April 2020 (National Panchayat Raj Day) as a Central Sector Scheme. It uses modern technical tools like drones for mapping and surveying to mark the residential land ownership in rural areas.
• Property cards recognised by the land revenue records department will be given to property owners and can be used for availing loans and other financial benefits.
• The pilot phase of the scheme was implemented during 2020–21 in the States of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and select villages of Punjab and Rajasthan, and now it has been extended to all the States.

3. Saudi Arabia joins ‘Net Zero Producers Forum’ on climate change

• Saudi Arabia joined the ‘Net Zero Producers Forum’ for oil and gas producers.
• United States, Canada, Norway, and Qatar have membership in this forum.
• ‘Net Zero Producers Forum’ will discuss ways to achieve net-zero carbon emission targets to limit global warming.
• Saudi Arabia is the world’s biggest crude oil exporter. It aims to reduce its carbon emissions by generating 50% of the Saudi Arabia’s energy from renewables by 2030. US President Joe Biden unveiled plans to cut emissions by 50%-52% from 2005 levels at the start of a two-day climate summit.

4. Sunken missing Indonesian submarine KRI Nanggala was found at Bali Sea

• KRI Nanggala, the missing Indonesian submarine, was found broken into three parts, at the bottom of the Bali Sea.
• Bali Sea is located in Indonesia.

• The German-built submarine KRI Nanggala was in service with the Indonesian Navy since 1981.

Deep Submergence Rescue Vessel of India

• Deep Submergence Rescue Vessel (DSRV) of India was sent to Indonesia from Vishakapatnam for search and rescue of KRI Nangala.

5. The 19^th edition of India and French Navy bilateral exercise VARUNA-2021 started

• The 19^th edition of the Indian and French Navy bilateral exercise VARUNA-2021 started in the Arabian Sea on 25 April. The three-day exercise will see high tempo-naval operations at sea, including advanced air defence and anti-submarine exercises.
• Guided-missile stealth destroyer INS Kolkata, guided-missile frigates INS Tarkash, INS Talwar and Chetak integral helicopters will participate in the exercise representating the Indian Navy.
• The French Navy will be represented by the Aircraft Carrier Charles-de-Gaulle with Rafale-M fighter, E2C Hawkeye aircraft and Command and supply ship,
• The Indian Navy will be led by Rear Admiral Ajay Kochhar, Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet, while the French Navy will be led by Rear Admiral Marc Aussedat, Commander Task Force 473.

6. NASA’s Perseverance rover makes Oxygen from Mars’ carbon dioxide atmosphere

• NASA’s Perseverance rover has made oxygen from the carbon dioxide atmosphere on Mars. It is the second successful technology demonstration on the mission, while the first was the flight of a mini-helicopter known as Ingenuity.
• The generation of oxygen was performed by a toaster-sized unit in the rover called the Moxie– the Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment. It made 5 grams of the gas – equivalent to what an astronaut at Mars would need to breathe for roughly 10 minutes.
• Mars’ atmosphere is dominated by carbon dioxide (CO₂) at a concentration of 96 per cent.

7. The 12^th National Panchayati Raj Day was virtually commemorated on 24 April 2021

• Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR), Government of India has been incentivising the best performing Panchayats recommended by the State Governments/UT Administrations since 2011-12. The awards are given on the National Panchayati Raj Day celebrated on 24 April every year.
• The National Panchayat Awards 2021 were conferred under the following categories: Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar (to 224 Panchayats), Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puraskar (to 30 Gram Panchayats), Gram Panchayat Development Plan Award (to 29 Gram Panchayats), Child-friendly Gram Panchayat Award (to 30 Gram Panchayats) and e-Panchayat Puraskar (to 12 States).

7. 12வது தேசிய பஞ்சாயத்து ராஜ் தினம் 24 ஏப்ரல் 2021 அன்று மெய்நிகராக தொடங்கப்பட்டது

• Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar (DDUPSP) is given to best performing Panchayats across the States/UTs in recognition of the good work for improving the delivery of services and public goods under nine thematic categories.
• Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puraskar (NDRGGSP) is given to Gram Panchayats/Village Councils for their outstanding contribution to the socio-economic development by involving Gram Sabhas.
• Gram Panchayat Development Plan Award (GPDPA) is given to Gram Panchayat/ Village Council, which has developed its GPDP according to the State/UT specific guidelines prepared in line with the model guidelines issued by MoPR.
• Child-friendly Gram Panchayat Award (CFGPA) is given to the best performing Gram Panchayat/Village Council for adopting child-friendly practices.
• e-Panchayat Puraskar is given to the best performing states for effective implementation of e-applications of Central and State Governments.

8. National Panchayat Raj Day – 24 April

• National Panchayat Raj Day is celebrated every year on 24 April. The day marks the institutionalisation of the Panchayat Raj institution by Ministry of Panchayat Raj through the 73^rd Constitutional Amendment Act of 1992, which was effective from 24 April 1993.

Panchayat Raj

• Panchayat Raj system was given constitutional status by the 73^rd amendment through the addition of Part IX (The Panchayat) to the Constitution.
• Rajasthan was the first state to implement the Panchayat Raj system.

Panchayat Raj system consists of a three-tier system, namely

• Panchayat Samiti – Block level
• Gram Panchayat – Village level

8. தேசிய பஞ்சாயத்து ராஜ் தினம் – 24 ஏப்ரல்

• ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் 24 ஏப்ரல் அன்று தேசிய பஞ்சாயத்து ராஜ் தினம் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. 1992ஆம் ஆண்டில் 73வது அரசியலமைப்புத் திருத்தச் சட்டத்தின் மூலம் பஞ்சாயத்து ராஜ் நிறுவனத்தை பஞ்சாயத்து ராஜ் அமைச்சகம் நிறுவனமயமாக்கியதை இந்த நாள் குறிக்கிறது, இது 1993 ஏப்ரல் 24 முதல் நடைமுறைக்கு வந்தது.

9. World Malaria Day – 25 April

• World Malaria Day is observed on 25 April every year to take urgent action in the control of Malaria.
• The theme of World Malaria Day 2021: “Reaching the zero-malaria target”

Malaria

• Malaria is caused by Plasmodium parasite and female Anopheles mosquitoes act as a vector.
• 5-year National Strategic Plan for Malaria Elimination was started in 2017 that focused on Malaria elimination by 2022.
• MERA-India (Malaria Elimination Research Alliance-India) was launched by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), which is a conglomeration of partners working on the control of malaria.

9. உலக மலேரியா தினம்

• மலேரியாவை கட்டுப்படுத்த அவசர நடவடிக்கை எடுப்பதற்காக உலக மலேரியா தினம் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் 25 ஏப்ரல் அன்று அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது.
• உலக மலேரியா தினம் 2021இன் கருப்பொருள்: “பூஜ்ஜிய மலேரியா இலக்கை அடைவது” .

மலேரியா

• மலேரியா பிளாஸ்மோடியம் ஒட்டுண்ணியால் ஏற்படுகிறது, இதில் பெண் அனோபில்ஸ் கொசுக்கள் நோய்கடத்தியாக செயல்படுகிறது.
• 5 ஆண்டு கால மலேரியாவை ஒழிப்பதற்கான தேசிய மூலோபாயத் திட்டம் 2017ஆம் ஆண்டில் தொடங்கப்பட்டது, இது 2022ஆம் ஆண்டிற்குள் மலேரியாவை ஒழிப்பதை நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டுள்ளது.
• மேரா–இந்தியா (MERA- மலேரியா ஒழிப்பு ஆராய்ச்சி கூட்டணி-இந்தியா) இந்திய மருத்துவ ஆராய்ச்சி கவுன்சில் (ஐசிஎம்ஆர்) மூலம் தொடங்கப்பட்டது, இது மலேரியாவை கட்டுப்படுத்த வேலை செய்யும் பங்குதாரர்களின் ஒருங்கிணைப்பு ஆகும்.

10. World Intellectual Property Day – 26 April

• ‘World Intellectual Property Day’ is celebrated by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) each year, on 26 April.
• The day discusses the role that intellectual property (IP) rights play in encouraging innovation and creativity.
• The theme of World Intellectual Property Day 2021: ‘Taking your ideas to the market’.

10. உலக அறிவுசார் சொத்துரிமை தினம் – 26 ஏப்ரல்

• ‘உலக அறிவுசார் சொத்துரிமை தினம்’ ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் 26 ஏப்ரல் அன்று உலக அறிவுசார் சொத்து அமைப்பால் (WIPO) கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.
• கண்டுபிடிப்பு மற்றும் படைப்பாற்றலை ஊக்குவிப்பதில் அறிவுசார் சொத்து (IP) உரிமைகள் வகிக்கும் பங்கை இந்த நாள் விவாதிக்கிறது.
• உலக அறிவுசார் சொத்து தினம் 2021இன் கருப்பொருள்: ‘உங்கள் யோசனைகளை சந்தைக்கு எடுத்துச் செல்லுதல்‘ 

11. World Veterinary Day – 24 April

• World Veterinary Day is observed annually on the last Saturday of April every year. The day was first declared by “The World Veterinary Association” in 2001.
• The main objective is, ‘to provide global leadership for the veterinary profession and promote animal health and welfare and public health, through advocacy, education, and partnership’.
• The theme for 2021: ‘The Veterinarian Response to the Covid-19 Crisis’

11. உலக கால்நடை தினம் – 24 ஏப்ரல்

• உலக கால்நடை தினம் ஆண்டுதோறும் ஏப்ரலின் கடைசி சனிக்கிழமை அன்று அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது. இந்த நாள் முதன்முதலில் உலக கால்நடை சங்கத்தால் 2001இல் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.
• “கால்நடைத் தொழிலுக்கு உலகளாவிய தலைமையை வழங்குவதும், கால்நடை உடல்நலம் மற்றும் சுகாதாரம் மற்றும் பொது சுகாதாரத்தை விளம்பரப்படுத்துதல், கல்வி மற்றும் கூட்டாண்மை மூலம் ஊக்குவிப்பதும்,” இதன் முக்கிய நோக்கமாகும்.
• 2021ஆம் ஆண்டுக்கான கருப்பொருள்: ‘கோவிட்-19 நெருக்கடிக்கு கால்நடை மருத்துவரின் மறுமொழி‘

DAY IN HISTORY

12. Mahavir Jayanti – 25 April

• Mahavir Jayanti is celebrated annually on 25 April. It marks the birth anniversary of 24^th and the last Jain Tirthankara Mahavir. Mahavir Jayanti is one of the most auspicious events for Jains and their religious life.

Mahavira

• Vardhamana Mahavira was known as Nigantha Nataputta. He was born around 540 BCE in Kundagrama, a suburb of Vaishali. He was a member of the ruling family of a gana-sangha and his father Siddhartha, was the chief of the Jnatrika clan. His mother Trishala was a Lichchavi princess and sister of its chief Chetaka.
• Mahavira left his home at the age of 30 and wandered about as a mendicant for 12 years in search of true knowledge. In the 13^th year of his wandering, at the age of 42, Vardhamana attained enlightenment or
• He then became a Tirthankara and came to be called a Jina or Mahavira (the Great Conqueror). He preached for 30 years and was patronised by the rich and the elite. He died about 468 BCE at the age of 72 in Pavapuri near Rajgriha.

Jainism

• Jainism was earlier known as Nirgranthas (free from bonds). Tirthankara was known as Jina (conqueror) of the soul, and hence this sect came to be known as Jainism and Samanam in Tamil Nadu.
• Risabha is considered the first Tirthankara, and Mahavir as the last Tirthankara. Yajur Veda mentions three of the Tirthankaras, viz., Risabha, Ajitanatha and Aristanemi.
• Mahavira, who is the 24^th Tirthankar, organised his members into monastic and lay followers.

12. மகாவீரர் ஜெயந்தி – 25 ஏப்ரல்

• மகாவீரர் ஜெயந்தி ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் 25 ஏப்ரல் அன்று கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. அது 24வது மற்றும் கடைசி சமண தீர்த்தங்கரரான மகாவீரரின் பிறந்த நாளைக் குறிக்கிறது. மகாவீரர் ஜெயந்தி சமண சமூகத்திற்கும் அவர்களின் மத வாழ்க்கைக்கும் மிகவும் புனிதமான நிகழ்வுகளில் ஒன்றாக கருதப்படுகிறது

மகாவீரர்

• வர்த்தமான மகாவீரர் நிகந்த நடபுத்தர் என்று குறிப்பிடப்படுகிறார். அவர் ஏறத்தாழ பொ.ஆ.மு. 540இல் வைசாலிக்கு அருகில் உள்ள குந்தகிராமம் என்ற இடத்தில் பிறந்தார். இவர் ஒரு கணசங்கத்தை ஆளும் குடும்பத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர். இவரது தந்தை சித்தார்த்தர், ஞானத்ரிகா என்ற இனக்குழுவின் தலைவர் ஆவார். இவரது தாய் திரிஷலை ஒரு லிச்சாவி இளவரசி ஆவார். அவர் லிச்சாவியின் தலைவர் சேதகரின் சகோதரியாவார்.
• மகாவீரர் தமது முப்பதாவது வயதில் வீட்டைவிட்டு வெளியேறினார். உண்மையான ஞானத்தைத் தேடிப் பன்னிரண்டாண்டுகள் அலைந்தார். இப்படித் திரிய ஆரம்பித்த பதின்மூன்றாவது ஆண்டில், தனது நாற்பத்தியிரண்டாம் வயதில் வர்த்தமானர் ஞானம் அல்லது நிர்வாணத்தை அடைந்தார்.
• பிறகு தீர்த்தங்கரர் ஆனார். அவர் ஜீனர் (வெற்றி பெற்றவர்) என்றும் மகாவீரர் என்றும் அழைக்கப்பட்டார். அவர் முப்பதாண்டு காலம் உபதேசம் செய்தார். செல்வர்களும் மேட்டுக்குடியினரும் அவரை ஆதரித்தனர். பொ.ஆ.மு. 468 வாக்கில் தனது எழுபத்தியிரண்டாம் வயதில், ராஜகிருகத்திற்கு அருகில் உள்ள பவபுரியில் மரணமடைந்தார்.

சமணம்

• சமணம் முதலில் நிர்கிரந்தம் (தளைகளிலிருந்து விடுபட்டது) என்று அழைக்கப்பட்டது. தீர்த்தங்கரர் ஜீனர்(உலகைவென்றவர்) என்று அழைக்கப்பட்டதால், இந்த பிரிவு ஜைனம் என்றும் அழைக்கப்பட்டது. தமிழ்நாட்டில் சமணம் என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.
• ரிஷபர் முதல் தீர்த்தங்கரராகவும் மகாவீரர் கடைசி தீர்த்தங்கரராகவும் கருதப்படுகிறார்கள். யஜுர் வேதம் ரிஷபர், அஜிதானந்தர், அரிஷ்டநேமி என்ற மூன்று தீர்த்தங்கரர்களைக் குறிப்பிடுகிறது.
• 24வது தீர்த்தங்கரரான மகாவீரர் தமது உறுப்பினர்களைத் துறவிகளாகவும், துறவறம் கொள்ளாது தம்மைப் பின்பற்றுபவர்களாகவும் திரட்டினார்.
