Union Government forms an 8-member panel headed by Conrad K Sangma to examine GST exemption on COVID-19 relief materials
- The Union Government has constituted an eight-member ministerial panel under the convenership of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to examine Goods and Services Tax (GST) exemptions on a range of COVID-19 essentials such as vaccines, drugs, testing kits and ventilators.
- Currently, 5% GST is levied on domestically manufactured vaccines, while it is 12% for COVID-19 drugs and oxygen concentrators.
Goa CM Pramod Sawant launches solar-based electrification programme for remote villages
- Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant launched a solar-based electrification programme for rural households in Goa. This project will bring electricity through renewable energy to areas in Goa where grid connectivity is not feasible.
- An agreement was signed between Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) and Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) to install solar home lighting systems in remote rural households of Goa.

Research Design and Standards Organisation becomes the first standards body to join the ‘One Nation One Standard’ scheme
- Lucknow-based Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO)became the first standards body in India to join the Union Government’s ‘One Nation One Standard’ scheme that aims to ensure quality products to Indian consumers.
- The RDSO has now been recognised as a Standard Developing Organisation (SDO) by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), which is implementing the One Nation One Standard scheme.
One Nation One Standard scheme (ONOS):
- The ‘One Nation, One Standard’ scheme was launched in 2019. The scheme is to ensure that there is a synergy and no overlap in the standardisation work in India, thereby building a ‘Brand India’ identity in the long run.
Union Government allocates Rs. 7,000 crores grant to West Bengal under Jal Jeevan Mission
- Union Government allocated a 6,998.97 crore grant to West Bengal under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) for the year 2021–22 to provide every household with an assured tap water supply on a regular and long-term basis.
- Union Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat assured full assistance to West Bengal for the provision of tap water supply to every rural home by 2024.
Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM):
- Jal Jeevan Mission is envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections by 2024 to all households in rural India. Jal Jeevan Mission was launched on 15 August 2019.
Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar launches Horticulture Cluster Development Programme virtually
- Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar virtually launched the Horticulture Cluster Development Programme (CDP).
- The programme will be implemented in 12 horticulture clusters out of the total 53 clusters. The programme would be implemented by the National Horticulture Board (NHB) of the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.

- ‘Telangana Formation Day’ is observed on 2 June to mark the addition of Telangana as India’s 29th On this day in 2014, Telangana came into existence after being bifurcated from Andhra Pradesh.

RBI announces FPI investment limits in G-secs and SDLs
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the limits for foreign portfolio investors (FPI) investment during the current fiscal (2021–2022) in Government Securities (G-secs) and State Development Loans (SDLs). They both will remain unchanged at 6 per cent and 2 per cent respectively, of outstanding stocks of securities for 2021–22.
- The allocation of incremental changes in the G-sec limit (in absolute terms) over the two sub-categories ‘General’ and ‘Long-term’ will be retained at 50:50 for FY 2021–22.

- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has cancelled the licence of Pune-based Shivajirao Bhosale Sahakari Bank as the bank does not have adequate capital and earning prospects.
- The bank customers will receive the full amount of their deposits from the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC).
OECD revises India growth forecast to 9.9% for FY22
- The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) revised its growth projection for India for FY22 (2021–2022) to 9.9% from 12.6%. OECD has revised global GDP growth at 5.8% for CY21.

Moody’s projects the Indian economy to grow 9.3% in FY22
- Moody’s credit rating agency projected India’s GDP growth as 9.3% for the fiscal year 2021–2022 (FY22). It also projected the GDP growth of India for FY23 as 7.9%. Moody’s has estimated a ‘Baa3’ rating on India with a negative outlook.
SBI’s Ecowrap revises India GDP growth forecast to 7.9% for FY22
- State Bank of India’s Ecowrap has revised GDP growth projection for FY22 to 7.9 per cent from 10.4 per cent earlier due to the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
- SBI Ecowrap projects the shape of recovery will be “W-shaped” instead of “V-shaped” as it was anticipated earlier.

- India’s largest private sector general insurer ICICI Lombard has tied up with Microsoft to strengthen and automate the quality control processes.
