• India Smart Cities Awards Contest (ISAC) 2020 results were released by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. These awards were given across the themes of social aspects, governance, culture, urban environment, sanitation, economy, built environment, water, urban mobility.

• Indore and Surat were adjudged joint winners among cities.

2. DRDO successfully test-fired extended-range version of indigenously developed Pinaka rocket from Chandipur

• Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test-fired an extended-range version of indigenously developed Pinaka rocket from a Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher at Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, off the coast of
• The enhanced range version of the Pinaka Rocket System can destroy targets at distances up to 45 km. 25 enhanced Pinaka rockets were launched in quick succession against targets at different ranges.

3. Scientists finds “Dragon Man” to be humans’ closest ancestor

• A skull discovered in northeast China, the Harbin cranium, made scientists think that “Dragon Man” could be human’s closest ancestor. The new human species have been named Homo longi or “Dragon Man“.
• The skull dates to the Middle Pleistocene period.

4. Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad launched the e-filing portal ‘itat e-dwar’

• Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad launched the e-filing portal of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), ‘itat e-dwar’. The portal will enable the online filing of appeals, applications, documents, etc., by various parties.

4. மத்திய சட்ட அமைச்சர் ரவிசங்கர் பிரசாத் மின் தாக்கல் வலைத்தளமான ‘இதத் இ–துவார்’ஐ தொடங்கி வைத்தார்

5. NITI Aayog convenes the National Convention on Prevention of Maternal, Adolescent and Childhood Obesity

• NITI Aayog convened the National Convention on Prevention of Maternal, Adolescent and Childhood Obesityunder the chairmanship of V.K. Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog and Co-chairmanship of Dr. R Hemalatha, Director, Nutrition Institute of India.
• Obesity is a “silent epidemic”.

6. India’s term as the Chairperson of Governing Body of ILO ends

• Apurva Chandra, Secretary of labour and employment, completed his tenure as Chair of Governing Body of International Labour Organization (ILO) from October 2020 – June 2021. India has assumed the Chairmanship of the Governing Body of International Labour Organization after a gap of 35 years.
• Apurva Chandra chaired both the Governing Body sessions, one virtually and the other in person at Geneva.
• He has handed over the responsibility to Ambassador Anna Jardfelt, Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations.

• அபூர்வா சந்திரா ஆளும் குழு அமர்வுகள் இரண்டிற்கும் தலைமை தாங்கினார், ஒன்று மெய்நிகராக மற்றும் மற்றொன்று ஜெனீவாவில் நடைபெற்றது.
• அவருக்குப் பிறகு ஸ்வீடனின் ஐக்கிய நாடுகளுக்கான நிரந்தர பிரதிநிதியான தூதர் அன்னா ஜார்ட்ஃபெல்ட் இந்த பொறுப்பை ஏற்றார்.

7. World Drug Report 2021

• World Drug Report 2021 was released by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the United Nations arm that fights against illicit drugs and international crime related to trafficking.
• Highlights of the World Drug Report 2021:

1. Access to drugs had become simpler with online sales. Major drug markets on the dark web are worth $315 million annually.
2. Around 275 million people used drugs globally in 2020, which is a 22 per cent increase from 2010.
3. 200 million people used cannabis during 2019, which is 4 per cent of the population. This is an 18 per cent increase over the decade. Percentage of adolescents who perceived cannabis as a harmful drug fell by 40 per cent.
4. The number of new psychoactive substances (NPS) emerging on the global market fell from 163 in 2013, to 71 in 2019.
5. 20 million people used cocaine in 2019, which is 0.4 per cent of the global population.
6. Fentanyl and its analogues now are involved in most of the deaths related to drug use.
7. Over 36 million people suffered from drug use disorders.

7. உலக போதைமருந்து அறிக்கை 2021

• சட்டவிரோத மருந்துகள் மற்றும் கடத்தல் தொடர்பான சர்வதேச குற்றங்களுக்கு எதிராக போராடும் ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபையின் பிரிவான போதைப்பொருள் மற்றும் குற்றங்கள் தொடர்பான ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் அலுவலகத்தால் (UNODC) உலக போதைமருந்து அறிக்கை 2021 வெளியிடப்பட்டது.
• உலக போதைமருந்து அறிக்கை 2021இன் சிறப்பம்சங்கள்:

1. ஆன்லைன் விற்பனை மூலம் போதைமருந்துகளின் அணுகல் எளிதாகியுள்ளது. கள்ளச்சந்தையில் முக்கிய மருந்து சந்தைகள் ஆண்டுதோறும் 315 மில்லியன் டாலர் மதிப்புள்ளவை ஆகும்.
2. 2020ஆம் ஆண்டில் உலகளவில் சுமார் 275 மில்லியன் மக்கள் போதைமருந்துகளைப் பயன்படுத்தினர். இது 2010இல் இருந்து 22 சதவீத அதிகரிப்பாகும்.
3. 200 மில்லியன் மக்கள் 2019இல் கஞ்சா பயன்படுத்தினர், இது மக்கள் தொகையில் 4 சதவீதம் ஆகும். இது தசாப்தத்தில் 18 சதவீத அதிகரிப்பாகும். கஞ்சாவை ஒரு தீங்கு விளைவிக்கும் மருந்தாக உணர்ந்த இளம் பருவத்தினரின் எண்ணிக்கை 40 சதவீதம் வீழ்ச்சியடைந்தது.
4. உலகச் சந்தையில் வெளிவரும் புதிய உளவியல் பொருட்களின் எண்ணிக்கை (NPS) 2013இல் 163இல் இருந்து 2019இல் 71ஆகக் குறைந்தது.
5. 2019இல் 20 மில்லியன் மக்கள் கொகெய்னைப் பயன்படுத்தினர், இது உலக மக்கள் தொகையில்4 சதவீதமாகும்.
6. ஃபென்டேனைல் மற்றும் அதன் மாதிரி பொருட்கள் இப்போது போதைப்பொருள் பயன்பாடு தொடர்பான பெரும்பாலான இறப்புகளுக்கு காரணமாக உள்ளன.

8. Saurabh Chaudhary wins bronze medal at ISSF World Cup Shooting 2021

• Saurabh Chaudhary won the bronze medal men’s 10 m air pistol event at ISSF World Cup Shooting in Osijek, Croatia.
• He was the youngest gold medalist at the 2018 Asian Games. He is the only Indian shooter to win a gold medal in ISSF World Championship, ISSF World Cup, Youth Olympic Games, Asian Games and Asian Air Gun Championship.
• He also won gold in Mixed Team 10m pistol with Manu Baker ISSF World Cup in Beijing.

8. ஐ.எஸ்.எஸ்.எஃப் உலகக் கோப்பை துப்பாக்கிசூடு 2021இல் சவுரப் சவுத்ரி வெண்கலப் பதக்கம் வென்றுள்ளார்

• குரோஷியாவின் ஓசிஜெக்கில் நடைபெற்ற ஐ.எஸ்.எஸ்.எஃப் உலகக் கோப்பை துப்பாக்கிச் சூட்டில் சவுரப் சவுத்ரி வெண்கலப் பதக்கம் வென்றார்.
• அவர் 2018 ஆசிய விளையாட்டுப் போட்டிகளில் தங்கப் பதக்கம் வென்ற இளம் வீரர் ஆவார். இவர் ஐ.எஸ்.எஸ்.எஃப் உலக சாம்பியன்ஷிப், ஐ.எஸ்.எஸ்.எஃப் உலகக் கோப்பை, இளைஞர் ஒலிம்பிக் போட்டிகள், ஆசிய விளையாட்டுகள் மற்றும் ஆசிய ஏர் கன் சாம்பியன்ஷிப் ஆகியவற்றில் தங்கப் பதக்கம் வென்ற ஒரே இந்திய துப்பாக்கி சுடும் வீரர் ஆவார்.
• பெய்ஜிங்கில் நடந்த ஐஎஸ்எஸ்எஃப் உலகக் கோப்பையில் மனு பாக்கருடன் கலப்பு அணி 10 மீ கைத்துப்பாக்கி போட்டியிலும் அவர் தங்கம் வென்றார்.

• International Day Against Drug Abuse is observed on 26 June every year to create awareness about issues related to drugs and make the world free of drug abuse. The UN General Assembly decided to mark 26 June as the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 7 December 1987.

• சர்வதேச போதைப்பொருள் ஒழிப்பு தினம் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் 26 ஜூன் அன்று போதைப்பொருள் தொடர்பான பிரச்சினைகள் பற்றிய விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்தவும், உலகை போதைப்பொருள்களிலிருந்து விடுவிக்கவும் அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது. ஐ.நா. பொதுச் சபை 26 ஜூனை சர்வதேச போதைப்பொருள் ஒழிப்பு தினமாக 7 டிசம்பர் 1987ஐ அனுசரிக்க முடிவு செய்தது.
• போதைப்பொருள் மற்றும் குற்றங்கள் தொடர்பான ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் அலுவலகம் (UNODC) சட்டவிரோத மருந்துகள் மற்றும் கடத்தல் தொடர்பான சர்வதேச குற்றங்களுக்கு எதிராக போராடும் ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபையின் பிரிவாகும்.

DAY IN HISTORY

10. Ma. Po. Sivagnanam’s birthday – 26 June

• Po. Sivagnanam (Mylapore Ponnusamy Sivagnanam) was born on 26 June 1906.
• He was popularly known as Po. Si and Silambu Selvar. He was a freedom fighter, politician and worked for the Tamil language.
• He also worked for renaming Madras State Tamil Nadu. He wrote the book ‘Kappalottiya Tamizhan’ and ‘Thalapathi Chidambaranar’ about V.O. Chidambaram.
• He died on 3 October 1995.

10. மா. பொ. சிவஞானத்தின் பிறந்த நாள் – 26 ஜூன் 26

• மா. பொ. சிவஞானம் (மைலாப்பூர் பொன்னுசாமி சிவஞானம்) 26 ஜூன் 1906 அன்று பிறந்தார்.
• அவர் மா. பொ. சி மற்றும் சிலம்புச் செல்வர் என்று பிரபலமாக அறியப்பட்டார். அவர் சுதந்திரப் போராட்ட வீரர், அரசியல்வாதி, தமிழ் மொழிக்காகப் பணியாற்றியவர் ஆவார்.
• மெட்ராஸ் ஸ்டேட்டை தமிழ்நாடு என்று பெயர் மாற்றம் செய்ய அவர் பாடுபட்டார். வ. உ. சிதம்பரனார் பற்றி ‘கப்பலோட்டிய தமிழ்‘, ‘தளபதி சிதம்பரனார்‘ என்ற புத்தகங்களை எழுதினார்.
• அவர் 3 அக்டோபர் 1995 அன்று இறந்தார்.
