Indian Railways launches Mission Amanat to track the lost belongings of passengers
- The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Western Railways zone of Indian Railways has launched a new initiative called ‘Mission Amanat’ to make it easier for railway passengers to get back their lost luggage.
- Under this initiative, the details of lost luggage and belongings along with their photos are posted on the official website of the zonal railway.
Union Minister of State for Education Subhas Sarkar launches the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar The 2021–22
- Union Minister of State for Education Subhas Sarkar launched the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar (SVP) for 2021–22, which is open to all categories of schools, i.e. government, government-aided and private schools in both rural and urban areas.
- The Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar honours, inspires and awards the schools that have excelled in the areas of water, sanitation and hygiene, as well as providing a baseline and path for schools to develop in the future.
- The schools will be assessed through an online portal and mobile application in six sub-categories — water, sanitation, hand washing with soap, operation and maintenance, behaviour change and capacity building and the newly added category on COVID-19 preparedness and response and the system will generate the overall score and rating automatically.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates an MSME Technology Centre at Puducherry
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated an MSME Technology Centre and Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Manimandapam (an auditorium with open-air theatre) at Puducherry.
- This world-class technology centre is spread over 10 acres with an investment of about ₹122 crores and will train 20,000 youngsters, help 2000 MSMEs and incubate 200 start-ups, boosting the local economy to new heights.
- The technology centres across India are developed under the flagship Technology Centre Systems Programme to serve existing and prospective MSMEs by developing manufacturing facilities, staff, providing consulting and developing a competitive edge through the adoption of best practices.
Supreme Court appoints a five-member committee headed by ex-judge Indu Malhotra to probe Prime Minister’s security lapse
- The Supreme Court has appointed a five-member committee headed by former Supreme Court judge Indu Malhotra to probe the alleged security breach during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Punjab.
- This committee will investigate the circumstances surrounding the security breach that stranded Prime Minister’s convoy for 15–20 minutes while on its route to the National Martyrs Memorial in Hussainiwala, just a few kilometres from the international border.
- The other members of this committee include the Director-General of the National Investigation Agency, Director-General of Police Chandigarh, Additional Director-General of Police (Security) for Punjab, and registrar-general of Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Odisha increases the upper age limit for state civil services exams to 38
- The Odisha Government has increased the upper age limit for entry to state government service to 38 years from the existing 32 years.
- The Odisha Government has made an amendment to the State (Odisha) Civil Services Rules, 1989 Act and this rule is only applicable to advertisements made from 2021 to 2023.

Indian Railways renames Kevadiya station in Gujarat as Ekta Nagar railway station
- Indian Railways has renamed Kevadiya station in Gujarat as Ekta Nagar railway station.
- The Indian Railways have approved the renaming of Kevadiya railway station, which is located near the Statue of Unity. The ‘Ekta Nagar’ railway station will be placed in the Vadodara division and will be designated as Kevadiya station.
- The station code of Ekta Nagar railway station will be EKNR and the numerical code of the station will be 08224620.

UBS Securities projects India’s GDP growth forecast at 9.1 per cent
- Swiss brokerage UBS Securities has revised its growth forecast for India downwards for the current financial year to 1 per cent from 9.5 per cent earlier.

Somnath was appointed as the new Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation
- Eminent rocket scientist Somnath was appointed as the new Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), replacing K. Sivan.
- Sivan was appointed as the ISRO chief in January 2018 and was given a one-year extension till 14 January 2022.
- Somnath will be the 10th Chairman of ISRO.
- He is currently serving as the Director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC).
- He served as the Associate Director (Projects) of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and also as the Project Director of GSLV Mk-III launch vehicle.
Ittira Davis was appointed as the MD & CEO of Ujjivan Small Finance Bank
- Ittira Davis was appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of Ujjivan Small Finance Bank for one year.
- Ittira Davis has been with Ujjivan Small Finance Bank since 2015 and was previously the CEO of Ujjivan Financial Services.

- New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel won the ICC Player of the Month Award for December 2021.
- He was nominated for this award alongside India opener Mayank Agarwal and Australian pacer Mitchell Star.
- In the Mumbai Test against India in early December, he took 14 wickets, including all ten in the first innings, to become only the third player in Test cricket history to achieve this remarkable milestone following Jim Laker and Anil Kumble.

Olympic Sprinter Deon Lendore passed away
- Three-time Olympic sprinter from Trinidad and Tobago Deon Lendore passed away at the age of 29 due to a car accident.
- He competed in three Olympic Games, winning a bronze medal for his country in the men’s 4×400 m relay final at the 2012 Olympics in London.
- At the 2015 World Championships in Beijing, he won a silver medal in the same event, before winning solo bronze medals in the 400 m at the 2016 and 2018 World Indoor Championships.
