Venkaiah Naidu launches ‘Segregation of Municipal Waste at Source Initiative for NCR’:
On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Union Minister of Urban Development M.Venkaiah Naidu launched a campaign on source segregation of municipal waste for National Capital Region (NCR).
It covers a total of nine Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) which includes Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida and Ghaziabad besides five ULBs of Delhi.
Women to be allowed in combat roles in Indian Army:
Army chief General Bipin Rawat announced that women to be allowed in combat roles in Indian Army. Army was ready to recruit women as Jawans and the matter is being taken up with the government. Currently women are allowed in medical, legal, educational, signals and engineering wings of the army.
NTPC installs Electric Vehicle charging stations in Delhi, Noida:
The National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) has facilitated the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles at Delhi and Noida. It has been launched to promote clean energy transportation in the country.

NSDC signs MoU with BIRD ACADEMY to train over 35000 unemployed youth:
The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has signed a pact with Bird Academy to train more than 30,000 unemployed youth across various states including North Eastern states with special focus to train and empower minimum 5,000 women in the aviation and aerospace sector.
CAG will audit GSTN:
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) will audit the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN). The known authorized capital of GSTN is Rs.10 crore in which Central Government holds 24.5 percent of shares while the state government holds 24.5 percent and rest with private banking firms.

India’s first ‘private’ railway station in Habibganj:
The Habibganj railway station which is among the two railway stations that Bhopal has becoming the first world-class private station in the country under an ambitious project of the Indian Railways and redeveloped as a public-private partnership (PPP). Also, it gets first ISO certified station in India.

Railways to reduce emission by 33% by 2030:
Going green, the Indian Railways is stepping up efforts to reduce emission by 33 per cent in the next 10-12 years through sustained energy efficiency measures and maximum use of clean fuel.
Promoting low carbon mass transportation system, the Railways will be using 5 per cent bio diesel and CNG/LNG for traction while stepping up use of renewable up to 10 per cent of its energy needs by 2030.
India successfully test-fires 1st all weather tracked-chassis QR-SAM:
India today successfully test-fired its first all weather tracked chassis Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QR-SAM) from a mobile launcher at Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha.
The test was carried out for validating various parameters of the sophisticated weapon system to further strengthen its air defence system.

Bridge on Mumbai-Goa highway inaugurated:
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated a bridge on the Mumbai-Goa Highway that was rebuilt after the original structure was washed away in floods in the Savitri. The three-lane bridge measuring 239 metres with a cost of Rs 35.55 crore was completed in 165 days.

The Rajasthan government has signed an MoU with three funding agencies to improve the nutritional status:
The new MoU was signed by the National Health Mission’s (NHM) State unit and the State Women and Child Development Department with the Tata Trust, Action Contre La Faim (Action Against Hunger) of France and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN). State Medical and Health Minister Kalicharan Saraf was present with three funding agencies to improve the nutritional status

Denmark scraps 334-year-old blasphemy law:
Danish lawmakers have repealed a 334-year-old blasphemy law that just been revoked criminalized blasphemous acts such as forbids public insults of a religion and the burning of holy books. Denmark was the only Scandinavian nation with a blasphemy law, which called for up to four months in prison upon conviction but also just fines in many cases.

Prince Harry to visit Singapore, Australia:
Britain’s Prince Harry will begin his five-day visit to Singapore and Australia to hold charity events including one that supports children living in Africa.

The 16th edition of 2017 Global Retail Development Index (GRDI) titled ‘The Age of Focus’, India has surpassed China to secure the top position among 30 developing countries on ease of doing business. NSE Launches Trading at GIFT City:
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) launched its trading at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) near Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
NSE IFSC Ltd, the global exchange promoted by NSE will remain operational for a longer period than NSE during a trading day. All the trades will be cleared and settled through NSE IFSC Clearing Corporations Ltd.
TRAI launches three apps for tracking call and data quality:
The telecom regulator “TRAI” launched three apps and a portal for service providers. The three apps – TRAI MyCall App, auto test enabled MySpeed app and Do-not-disturb 2.0 app.
It aims to improve the customer experience and enhance the quality of services through real-time feedback from 1 billion mobile users.
