14th Inclusive finance India summit begins in New Delhi

The 14th Inclusive Finance India Summit has begun in New Delhi to make agreements on strategies and a unified vision for achieving universal financial inclusion in India. A Finance India Report was released which provides an insightful analysis and an honest critique of the financial inclusion progress during the course of the year.

A book- ‘Talking financial inclusion in liberalized India: Conversations with Governors of the RBI’, edited by Prof. MS Sriram was released during the inaugural session.

Financial Inclusion is the process of ensuring access to appropriate financial products and services needed by vulnerable groups such as weaker sections and low income groups at an affordable cost in a fair and transparent manner by mainstream Institutional players.


Niti Aayog launches Atal Tinkering Lab initiative

Atal Innovation Mission under the aegis of NITI Aayog, celebrated the Community Drive Initiative as part of ATL Community Day. As a part of the unique initiative, 25 young mentors interacted with over 200 children not enrolled in the formal education system through brief sessions conducted at four locations in New Delhi.

Atal Innovation Mission Mentors will inspire in these students the spirit of innovation and problem solving through tinkering with emerging technologies and provide opportunities to realize their creative abilities.


Chandigarh launches Smart City Cards

Governor of Punjab and Administrator U.T, VP Singh Badnore launched the Chandigarh Smart city cards created by Chandigarh Administration in association with the Bank of India.

Customers can use the card for Government Utility payments, Retail merchants, Government taxes and Challans, E- Mandi, Rent Collection, liquor shops, Chandigarh Transport Undertaking for Inter and Intra city buses, fuel stations. The limit of this prepaid card is Rs 50,000, which is as per the guidelines of RBI.

Chandigarh Smart City card is a personalized card with the details of the customer and his photograph. All the Adhaar card holders can get this card through E-KYC at Sampark center and the online portal designed by the Bank of India.

India to host AIIB annual meeting   

India to host 3rd Annual Meeting of Board of Governors of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.The meeting will be hosted in Mumbai.

The Government of Maharashtra has nominated Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) as the nodal agency for organising the Annual Meeting.

AIIB is a multilateral development bank with a mission to improve social and economic outcomes in Asia and beyond. AIIB commenced operations in January 2016.

Venkaiah Naidu To Inaugurate World Conference On Vedas In Delhi

Venkaiah Naidu to Inaugurate World Conference On Vedas in Delhi. It was held at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA).

The event will have in-depth discussions on various aspects of vedas.The three-day ‘Vishwa Ved Sammelan’ will have in-depth discussions on de-mystifying various myths and fallacies surrounding the Vedas and Manusmriti.


4th India-Australia-Japan Trilateral Dialogue Held in New Delhi

India on held the fourth edition of the trilateral meet with Japan and Australia in New Delhi.

Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar hosted the 4th India-Australia-Japan Trilateral Dialogue with Secretary of Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia Ms. Frances Adamson and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Mr. Shinsuke J. Sugiyama, in New Delhi.

The meeting highlighted the growing convergence of their respective countries’ interests in the Indo-Pacific region and underscored their shared commitment to peace, democracy, economic growth and a rule-based order in the region.

11th WTO Ministerial Conference Held in Argentina

The Eleventh World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Conference (MC11) took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Conference was chaired by Minister Susana Malcorra of Argentina. Indian Delegation was led by Minister of Commerce and Industry Suresh Prabhu.

The World Trade Organization is an intergovernmental organization that regulates international trade.

J&K Bank launches ‘sahafat finance scheme’

Jammu and Kashmir Bank launched a finance scheme wherein a loan of up to Rs three lakh can be availed by journalists and employees of media houses in the state.

It was launched by the banks chairman and chief executive officer Parvez Ahmad.

Under the scheme, the journalists, media personnel and employees of media houses and newspapers can avail a loan of up to Rs three lakh for purchase of equipment like camera, laptop, tablet or mobile phone.

SBI Starts State Bank Rewardz Scheme

The country’s largest bank, State Bank of India, launched State Bank Rewardz Scheme, that will reward points for timely repayment of loans and also for opening an account or transferring funds through internet or mobile banking.

State Bank Rewardz – a mobile banking app – is where the customer would be able view and redeem their reward points by shopping through this mobile app or at merchant establishments. Every 4 points a customer earns would translate to a reward of Rs 1.

To boost digital banking and to encourage customers to use alternative banking channels, SBI launched the State Bank Rewardz, an enterprise-wise loyalty programme as the bank celebrated its 60th anniversary.

India to Host 2021 champions Trophy, 2023 World cup

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), announced that India will be hosting the ICC Cricket World Cup on 2023 and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2021.

This is the first time India would be hosting an ODI World Cup completely.

India will also be hosting Afghanistan for their first ever Test in 2019-2020 after they became full members of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Sachin Siwach named ABC’s best youth boxer

World Youth Champion Sachin Siwach was named the Asian Boxing Confederation’s Best Youth Boxer of the Year.Earlier, he claimed the Asian youth championships silver this year besides a gold at the Youth Commonwealth Games.

India’s Lenny D’Gama also won the Best Asian International Technical Official (ITO) award.


2022 Beijing Winter Games Official Emblems Unveiled

The Beijing 2022 Organising Committee (BOCOG) unveiled the official emblems of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 at a ceremony at the National Aquatics Centre,Beijing.

The emblems of the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games have been named “Winter Dream” and “Flight,” respectively.

Designed by artist Lin Cunzhen, the emblems combine traditional and modern elements of Chinese culture, as well as features embodying the passion and vitality of winter sports.
