Modi launches India’s most powerful electric locomotive in Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveils India’s  first 12,000 horsepower electric locomotive from Bihar’s Madhepura locomotive factory.

The train is first Make-in-India project completed by Alstom at Madhepura’s Electric Locomotive Factory. Alstom is a French multinational company operating worldwide in rail transport markets

Prime Minister Modi reached Bihar to attend the centenary celebrations of the Champaran Satyagraha as a part of “Chalo Champaran Campaign”. The theme of the centenary celebrations of the Champaran Satyagraha is “Satyagraha se Swachhagrah”.


Haryana Government launches Water ATM policy for urban areas

The Haryana government has come up with Water ATM Policy to provide clean drinking water to people at public places in cities. It was announced by state minister Kavita Jain.

The distance between two water ATMs would be 400 metres, which could be adjusted according to convenience of people.

A proposal to this effect was approved by the state’s Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

Eighth Regional 3R Forum in Asia and Pacific was held in Indore

The Eighth  Regional  3R Forum in  Asia and the Pacific was held in  Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

The mantra of 3R – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle – Is at the heart of any vision towards the sustainable development of mankind.

The event will be inaugurated by Smt. Sumitra Mahajan, Speaker of the Lok Sabha and Sh. Hardeep S. Puri, Minister of State (I/C), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Sh.Tadahiko Ito, State Minister, Ministry of the Environment, Japan

The overall  theme is “Achieving  Clean Water, Clean Land  and Clean Air through 3R and  Resource Efficiency – A 21st Century  Vision for Asia-Pacific Communities”.


Manu Bhaker: Brand ambassador MR vaccination campaign

India’s teen shooter Manu Bhaker will be the brand ambassador of Haryana’s Measles and Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign.

The campaign would be launched by state’s Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

She recently won women’s 10m air pistol gold medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast.

Manu Bhaker had also bagged multiple gold medals at the 2018 ISSF World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico and the subsequent Junior World Cup in Sydney.


President and Zambia Signs 4 Agreements

India and Zambia has signed four agreements to strengthen the ties between the two countries.

The agreements include one on Double taxation, Judicial co-operation, Establishment of Entrepreneurship Development Institute in Zambia and visa exemption on diplomatic passports and official holding relevant passports.

The agreements were signed after delegation-level talks between President Ram Nath Kovind and his Zambian counterpart Edgar Lungu at Lusaka.

He will also lay the foundation stone of Lusaka city roads decongestion project which will be implemented with the support from India.

India Signs MoU With World EXPO 2020 Dubai

India and World Expo 2020 signed participants contract for India’s pavilion in the prestigious World Expo 2020 held once in 5 years.

The contract was signed by Manoj K. Dwivedi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, GOI and Najeeb Mohammed Al Ali, Executive Director, Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau.

India has already designated Binoy Kumar, Special Secretary in the Department of Commerce, as Director General of World Expo 2020 Dubai.

The contract provides for the setting up of India’s pavilion at Expo 2020 on an extra large plot of about one acre in the ‘Opportunity’ segment.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has won a third consecutive term.

He will serve the third term in office, with his party Fidesz projected to win a two-thirds majority in parliament.

SBI To Invest Rs 80 Bn In Hydropower Project Of Nepal

The State Bank of India (SBI) will be investing a total of Rs 80 billion in the Arun III hydropower project of Nepal, which has 900 megawatts (MW) electricity production capacities.

The SJVN, which has been awarded with the construction of the mega power project of Nepal will make the formal agreement soon.

With the completion of the project, Nepal will get 21.9 percent of the total electricity produced in a yeari.e., 197 MW electricity with 86 crore unit for free in a year.

The Everest Bank Limited also will invest 3.60 Billion Rupees (2.25 Billion INR) in the Arun III. Everest Bank Limited is the Commercial Bank of Nepal, which is joint venture of Punjab National Bank, India.

The mega project is targeted to be completed by 2022’s September.

Rishad Premji appointed Nasscom chairman for 2018-19

The Board member of Wipro Ltd.Rishad Premji  has been appointed as the Chairman of the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) for 2018-19.

Premji has been a member of NASSCOM’s Executive Council and was the Vice Chairman for the previous year.

He succeeds Raman Roy, Chairman and Managing Director, Quatrro Global Services, who served as Chairman of NASSCOM for the year 2017-18.  

NASSCOM also appointed Keshav Murugesh as the Vice Chairman for 2018-19.

The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) is a trade association of Indian Information Technology (IT) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry.
