Tamil Nadu will celebrate April 14 as ‘Equality Day’ in memory of B. R. Ambedkar

  • Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Stalin has announced that B. R. Ambedkar, the father of the Indian constitution, will be honoured by the celebration of his birth anniversary on 14 April as the ‘Day of Equality’.
  • Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Stalin announced that Ambedkar’s birth anniversary will be observed as ‘Samathuva Naal’ (Equality Day).
  • He also announced that the selected works of Ambedkar will be translated to Tamil by the TN government.

India’s first-ever community museum inaugurates in Gya – Sasoma villages of Leh district

  • India’s first-ever community museum was inaugurated in Gya – Sasoma villages of Leh, Ladakh in the direction of preserving and forwarding its rich cultural heritage to future generations.
  • Gya is the first village and oldest inhabitation in Upper Ladakh. Along with the Gya-Sasoma villagers, women associations of the villages, the Department of Museology National Museum Institute, NMI New Delhi and the LAHDC, Leh together have participated in the establishment of the Community Museum.
  • The Community Museum will be an anchorage point for the young generations of Ladakh to their identity and for the visitors to understand this region.

Japan to send modified trains suitable for Indian for India’s first bullet train project

  • For India’s first bullet train project Japan will send its improved high-speed train named ‘E5 Shinkansen series trains’ from Japan to India based upon the modifications to Indian specifications like temperature, dust and weight. Japan will send six trains initially.
  • This E5 series are Japanese Shinkansen high-speed train types built by Hitachi and Kawasaki Heavy Industries.
  • They are capable of running at a speed of 320 kmph and are 35 m wide, the widest among such trains are available in countries like France and Germany.

Odisha Government has signed an MoU with BPCL for developing a renewable energy plant

  • The Odisha Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited to take vital steps towards the proliferation of green energy in Odisha for five years.
  • This MoU is to support in the fields of the feasibility of setting up renewable energy plant and green hydrogen plant (both for domestic and export customers) round the clock (RTC) power for consumers and proposed green hydrogen plants, setting up of requisite infrastructure, training and knowledge sharing, etc.

IIT Guwahati partners with NTPC for the development of a plant to capture CO2

  • The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has partnered with National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) to design and develop a highly energy-efficient plant for CO2 capture from power plants.
  • This indigenous technology was developed by a research team led by Professor Bishnupada Mandal, Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Guwahati.

  • The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) commissioned the latest Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH-Dhruv) MK-III squadron in Bhubaneswar, Odisha a boost to maritime security.
  • The most advanced variant of ALH will enhance maritime capabilities of force along with West Bengal and Odisha Coast and beyond.
  • These helicopters are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment like Surveillance Radar, Electro-Optic Pod, Medical Intensive Care Unit, High-Intensity Search Light and SAR Homer.

  • He has authored dozens of books on the philosophy and history of Sikhs and has received several awards including Sikh Scholar Award, Police Medal for meritorious services, President’s Police Medal and Shiromani Sikh Sahitkar Award.
