SA Bobde launched Supreme Court’s first AI-driven Research Portal ‘SUPACE’

  • Chief Justice of India SA Bobde has unveiled the first-of-its-kind Artificial Intelligence (AI) based portal of the Supreme Court of India named “SUPACE”.
  • The SUPACE (Supreme Court Portal for Assistance in Court’s Efficiency) portal is a tool and will collect relevant facts and laws and makes them available to a judge.

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank launched the SARTHAQ initiative for the implementation of NEP

  • Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank launched an initiative SARTHAQ which will help in the implementation of the National Education Policy in the country.
  • The student’s and teacher’s holistic advancement through quality education (SARTHAQ) had been initiated as a part of the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
  • SARTHAQ, developed by the Department of School Education and Literacy is an indicative and suggestive implementation plan for school education and was released as part of the celebrations leading to the Amrit Mahotsav on 75 years of India’s independence.

India contributed $500,000 to UN Trust Fund for counter-terrorism

  • India had contributed an additional $ 500,000 to the United Nations Trust Fund for Counter-Terrorism, taking the country’s donation to the UN office set up to combat terrorism to over $ 1 million.
  • India was keen to continue working with the UN office to further the common objective of combatting terrorism. The UN Trust Fund for Counter-Terrorism was established by the Secretary-General in 2009.

ADB approved a $484 million loan to improve connectivity and maintenance of CKIC

  • The Asian Development Bank (ADB) had approved a loan of $484 million to improve transport connectivity and road maintenance in the Chennai-Kanyakumari Industrial Corridor (CKIC) in Tamil Nadu. The CKIC is part of India’s East Coast Economic Corridor, which stretches from West Bengal to Tamil Nadu and connects India to the production networks of Southeast and East Asia.

India and Sri Lanka Agreed to Jointly Work Against Terror Groups and Fugitives

  • India and Sri Lanka agreed to work jointly against terrorist groups and fugitives wherever they are present and active and emphasised sharing real-time intelligence. The first delegation-level virtual Police Chiefs Dialogue between the Police Chiefs of India and Sri Lanka was also held.

India and Maldives Agreed to Strengthen Counter-Terror Mechanism

  • India and Maldives decided to enhance capacity-building mechanisms to counter-terror as well as collaboration to counter violent extremism and de-radicalisation.
  • The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation that will include assistance and capacity building for the security and law enforcement agencies and other relevant agencies of the Maldives as well as collaboration and the exchange of best practices in the areas of counter terrorism, preventing and countering of violent extremism and de-radicalisation.

International Monetary Fund policy panel endorsed a $650 billion increase in resources

  • The International Monetary Fund (IMF) had authorised a $650-billion expansion of the 190-nation lending institution’s resources to provide more support for vulnerable countries as they battle the coronavirus pandemic.
  • The $650 billion increase in reserves is the largest in IMF history. The move will provide badly needed reserves for poor countries struggling with deep recessions caused by the pandemic and the need to obtain and administer millions of doses of vaccines

QCI chief Adil Zainulbhai appointed as the chairman of the Capacity Building Commission

  • Quality Council of India (QCI) chief Adil Zainulbhai has been appointed as the chairperson of the Capacity Building Commission, set up under the government’s ambitious ‘Mission Karmayogi’ for bringing major reforms in bureaucracy.
  • Besides him, Ramaswami Balasubramaniam has been appointed as a member (HR) and Praveen Pardeshi as a member (administration).

Tanla Platform appointed Wipro veteran Aravind Viswanathan as CFO

  • Leading communication service provider Tanla Platforms has roped in Aravind Viswanathan as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) after his two-decade stint at Wipro. Tanla had a huge headspace to capture in the global CPaaS (communication-platform-as-a-service) industry. He will take over from GK Srinivas.
  • The company recently appointed Balaji Kesavaraj as the Chief Marketing Officer, Harish Arora as the Chief Technology Officer, and Preetham Singh as the Chief Human Resources Officer.

President Bazoum of Niger appointed Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou as Prime Minister

  • Niger President Mohamed Bazoum appointed Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou to head his new cabinet as the country’s new prime minister. He Succeeds Brigi Rafini.

The Great Khali to be inducted into the 2021 WWE Hall of Fame

  • The Great Khali has been announced as the latest inductee into the 2021 WWE Hall of Fame. The India-born former WWE Superstar worked for Vince McMahon’s company from 2006 to 2014.
  • The 7-foot-1 tall Khali is the first Indian world champion in WWE. He made his professional wrestling debut in 2000. Khali joins a 2021 Hall of Fame class that already includes Molly Holly and Erich Bischoff.

Dutee Chand to receive Chhattisgarh Veerni Award

  • Ace Sprinter from Odisha Dutee Chand will be conferred with Chhattisgarh Veerni Award. The award is instituted by the Chhattisgarh state government, recognises the contribution of Indian women in different fields, including sports.

Lieutenant Colonel Bharat Pannu breaks two Guinness World Records for fastest solo cycling

  • Lieutenant Colonel Bharat Pannu, a serving Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) officer in the Indian Army, has created two consecutive World Records for the fastest solo cycling last year in October. The official Guinness World Record was received in April 2021.
  • The first record was attempted from Leh to Manali on the arduous route of 472 km and the second record was of the 5,942 km Golden Quadrilateral route connecting the four metropolitan cities of India.
