Indian Coast Guard celebrates its 46th Raising Day
- Indian Coast Guard (ICG) celebrated its 46th Raising Day on 01 February 2022. ICG was established in 1977 and is the fourth largest coast guard in the world.
- The ICG’s motto is ‘Vayam Rakshamah’, which translates to ‘We Protect’.
Spituk Gustor Festival 2022 begins in Ladakh
- Spituk Gustor, the annual celebrations of Ladakhi culture and traditional heritage began in the Union territory of Ladakh.
- The main attraction of this festival is the colourful mask dance locally called Chams performed by the monks of the monastery in their best robes depicting different deities such as Mahakala (Gonbo), Paldan Lhamo (Shridevi) and White Mahakala (Protector Deity).

India’s first geological park is set to come up at Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur
- Geological Survey of India (GSI) has approved the setting up of India’s first geopark at Lamheta village on the banks of the Narmada river in the Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh.
- The estimated cost of this project is ₹ 35 crores. This site is already present in the UNESCO geo-heritage tentative list for the conservation of the natural heritage.

Three-day Torgya Festival of the Monpa community begins in Arunachal Pradesh
- The three-day traditional Torgya Festival of the Monpa community of Arunachal Pradesh began at the Tawang Monastery. This year (2022) marks a special occasion as it is ‘Dungyur Torgya’, which comes after a three-year gap.
- This is a festival comprising oral and dance performances portraying the mythical events which are believed to have taken place in the past.

Punjab Chief Electoral Officer unveils Punjab’s election Mascot ‘Shera’
- Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Karuna Raju unveiled Punjab elections mascot named ‘Shera’. This mascot aims to increase voter awareness and participation in the elections to increase voter turnout and promote ethical voting in the upcoming 2022 Punjab Assembly polls.
- This mascot is promoted under the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) project.

SBI collaborates with Tata Power to launch a dedicated centralised processing cell
- State Bank of India (SBI) has launched a dedicated centralised processing cell named Surya Shakti Cell in collaboration with Tata Power Solar Systems.
- SBI aims to provide an end-to-end platform for a digital and hassle-free journey to the loan applicants for financing solar projects.
- The Surya Shakti Cell will process all the loan applications for solar projects (capacity up to 1 MW) sourced from across India for installation by business entities as well as households.

Sergio Mattarella was re-elected as the Italian President for a second term
- Sergio Mattarella was re-elected as the President of Italy for a second term. He received 759 out of a possible 1009 votes from the members of parliament and regional representatives.
- His re-election marks just the second time in history that an Italian President has served a second term. Giorgio Napolitano was the first to serve a second term in 2013 since Italy became a republic in 1946, but he resigned after two years in 2015.

India joins the global movement to raise awareness on neglected tropical diseases
- India has joined a global movement to illuminate 100 landmarks across the world to raise awareness on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs).
- India observed the third World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day on 30 January and joined close to 40 other nations to illuminate the iconic New Delhi Railway Station in purple and orange hues to commemorate this day.

PNB launches a co-branded credit card with Patanjali in partnership with NPCI
- Punjab National Bank (PNB) and Patanjali Ayurved Limited (PAL) have launched co-branded credit cards in partnership with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
- These co-branded credit cards are offered on NCPI’s RuPay Platform and are available in two variants — PNB RuPay Platinum and PNB RuPay Select.
- Both the co-branded cards offer a hassle-free credit service to purchase day-to-day Patanjali products, along with cashbacks, loyalty points, insurance cover, etc.

GST collections in January 2022 cross the ₹ 1.3-lakh-crore mark for the fourth straight month
- Goods and Service Tax (GST) collections crossed ₹ 1.38 lakh crores in January 2022. Revenues for January 2022 is 15 per cent higher than GST revenues in January 2021 and 25 per cent higher than the GST revenues in January 2020.
- The total number of GSTR-3B returns filed up to 30 January 2022 is ₹ 1.05 crores, that includes ₹ 36-lakh quarterly returns.

- Lt Gen KJS Dhillon was awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal on the seventy-third Republic Day.
Former RBI Governor Urjit Patel resigns as an independent director of Britannia Industries Limited
- Former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Urjit Patel has resigned from the post of non-executive and independent director of Britannia Industries Limited.
- He was recently appointed as the Vice-President for investment operations in South Asia at the Beijing-based Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

R. Sreejesh becomes the first Indian man to win the World Games Athlete of the Year Award
- Veteran Indian hockey goalkeeper R. Srejeesh won the prestigious World Games Athlete of the Year 2021 Award for his performances. He became the first Indian man and second hockey player to win this prestigious award.
- Indian women’s hockey captain Rani Rampal became the first Indian to win this award for her performances in 2019.
Hoysala temples in Karnataka were finalised as India’s nomination for the World Heritage List for 2022–2023
- The Hoysala temples of Belur, Halebid and Somnathapura in Karnataka have been finalised as India’s nomination for the World Heritage List for the year 2022–2023.
- The ‘Sacred Ensembles of the Hoysala’ are on the UNESCO’s Tentative List since 15 April 2014. The Permanent Representative of India to the UNESCO Vishal V. Sharma formally submitted the nomination of Hoysala temples to the UNESCO Director of the World Heritage Lazare Eloundou.

Netherlands cricketer Ben Cooper announces retirement from international cricket
- The Netherlands batsmen Ben Cooper announced his retirement from international cricket at the age of 29. The left-hand batter has featured in 70 international matches for the Netherlands. His debut was in 2013 against Canada in an ODI match.
- He was the Netherlands’ cricket team top run-scorer in the T20I format. He has scored 1,239 runs from 58 T20I matches. His average in T20Is is 16 and has a strike rate of 124.77.
- He featured in 13 ODI matches and scored 187 runs with an average of 18.7 and a strike rate of 90.4.
