  • National Protein Day in India is observed on 27 February to raise awareness of the importance of an essential nutrient like protein.

  • Rare Disease Day is observed annually on 28 February to raise awareness for rare diseases and improve access to treatment and medical representation for individuals with rare diseases and their families.
  • This day was set up and globally coordinated by EURORDIS (European Organisation for rare diseases) and was first observed in 2008.
  • The theme of Rare Disease Day 2022 is ‘Share Your Colours.’

Union Minister for MSME Narayan Rane launches ‘Union MSME RuPay Credit Card’

  • Union Minister for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Narayan Rane has launched the ‘Union MSME RuPay Credit Card’ of Union Bank of India at the two-day MSME Conclave being held in Sindhudurg, Maharashtra.
  • This card is being offered by the Union Bank of India in association with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). It provides a simplified payment mechanism to MSMEs to meet their business-related operational expenses.

 

India’s first e-waste eco-park is set to be built in Delhi

  • Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced that Delhi will get India’s first e-waste eco-park to handle the increasing e-waste. The framing of Delhi Film Policy 2022 to make the city a brand for shooting locations and promoting tourism.

 

Union Ministry of Education launches Bhasha Certificate Selfie campaign

  • Union Ministry of Education launched a campaign named ‘Bhasha Certificate Selfie’ to encourage cultural diversity and promote mulitlinguism and foster the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
  • The ‘Bhasha Certificate Selfie’ initiative is encouraging people to upload their selfies with the certificate from their social media accounts using the hashtag #BhashaCertificateSelfie.

 

BSES commissions India’s first smart-managed EV charging station in Delhi

  • BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL), a subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure-backed BSES has commissioned India’s first ‘Smart Managed EV Charging Station’ in Delhi.
  • This smart managed EV charging station, which can charge five Electric Vehicles simultaneously.

  • The twelve days long joint exercise schedule includes house interventions drills, raids on terrorist hideouts in semi-urban terrain, combat first aid, unarmed combat and close-quarter combat firing.

  • State-owned National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) has inked a pact with HDFC bank to securitise return on equity of its 540-MW Chamera-I Power Plant in Himachal Pradesh for 10 years.
  • The amount of the securitisation facility has arrived ₹ 1,016.39 crore or 24 per cent per annum discounting rate linked with three-month T-bills.

  • The Ministry of Defence has signed a 1,075 crores contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for retro-modification of commander sight in 957 T-90 battle tanks.
  • Commander sight of T-90, India’s premier battle tank, is presently fitted with an image converter (IC) tube-based sight for night viewing.

World Bank’s India head Junaid Ahmad was appointed as the vice president of operations at Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency

  • The World Bank’s India head Junaid Kamal Ahmad was appointed as a Vice President of Operations in the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA).
  • He is only the second Bangladeshi national to be appointed to such a high position in the history of the bank. Faisal Chaudhary was the first Bangladeshi national who became the Vice President on the operational side.

Former Odisha CM Hemananda Biswal passed away at 82

  • Former Odisha Chief Minister Hemananda Biswal passed away at the age of 82. He was a six-time MLA from the Jharsuguda district of Odisha. He was elected as the first tribal Chief Minister of Odisha in 1989.
