Jammu & Kashmir signs an MoU with Go Air for transportation of Agri produce across India

  • Jammu and Kashmir Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Go Air, a private airline, for the transportation of perishable horticulture and agricultural produce to various destinations across India.
  • The MoU between the Horticulture Department and Go Air was signed in the presence of Principal Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Horticulture departments, Navin Kumar Choudhary.

  • Veteran politician Isaac Herzog was elected as the 11th President of Israel. The 60-year-old Isaac Herzog will replace Reuven Rivlin, who was elected as the President of Israel in 2014.

Union Cabinet approves an MoU between India and Argentina on cooperation in the field of mineral resources

  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be signed between the Union Ministry of Mines of India and the Secretariat of Mining Policy of the Union Ministry of Productive Development of Argentina.
  • The MoU is aimed towards facilitating India’s energy security goals and involves setting up joint ventures for strategic minerals and future investments.

Union Cabinet approves an MoC between India and Japan in the field of sustainable urban development

  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on sustainable urban development between the Union Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs of India and the Union Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan.
  • The MoC will promote strong, deep and long-term bilateral cooperation in the field of sustainable urban development between the two countries.

WazirX launches India’s 1st NFT marketplace

  • India’s largest crypto exchange WazirX announced the launch of India’s first Non-Fungible Token (NFT) The platform will be used to trade Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), which are run on the Binance Smart Chain.
  • The Binance Smart Chain is a blockchain platform created by Binance, one of the largest crypto exchanges in the world.
  • NFTs are digital tokens that exist on a blockchain and represent ownership of digital items, like artwork, music, etc.

Bharti AXA Life Insurance partners with Shivalik Small Finance Bank for bancassurance

  • Private life insurer Bharti AXA Life Insurance has entered into a bancassurance partnership with Shivalik Small Finance Bank for the distribution of its life insurance products through the bank’s pan-India network of branches.
  • Under this agreement, Bharti AXA Life Insurance will offer its suite of life insurance products, including protection, health, savings and investment plans to the customers of Shivalik Small Finance Bank across its 31 branches and digital network across India.

Bombay Stock Exchange signs a pact with ESC to encourage listing of startups

  • Leading stock exchange Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has joined hands with Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) to create awareness about the benefits of listing among small businesses and
  • Under this pact, ESC will utilise its pan India network of electronics and IT exporters and evaluate the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups amongst these for listing on the BSE Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and startup platform.

  • Facebook-owned messaging platform WhatsApp has appointed Paresh B Lal as its Grievance Officer for India.
  • The grievance officer will have to acknowledge the complaint within 24 hours and dispose of such complaint within 15 days from the date of its receipt and receive and acknowledge any order, notice or direction issued by the Indian Government authorities.

  • State-owned Canara Bank has appointed SK Majumdar as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with immediate effect. He has replaced V Ramachandra.
  • He is a chartered accountant and cost accountant by qualification. He has over 21 years’ of experience in banking in various capacities and departments.

Patrick Amoth of Kenya was elected as the Chairperson of the WHO’s Executive Board

  • Patrick Amoth was elected as the Chairperson of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO) for one year. He was elected to the position during the 149th session of the WHO’s Executive Board held in Geneva, Switzerland.
  • He took over the position of India’s Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Harsh Vardhan. Harsha Vardhan will continue to be a member of the Executive Board of WHO till 2023.

  • Renowned director GN Rangarajan passed away due to an age-related illness. He was known for hit films such as Meendum Kokila, Kalyanaraman and Maharasan, among others.

Cartoonist Ibrahim Badusha passed away at 37

  • Cartoonist and former Vice-Chairman of the Kerala Cartoon Academy, Ibrahim Badusha passed away at the age of 37. He had created a record of sorts by undertaking the ‘Longest Live Caricature Drawing Show’, which he named ‘portraiture’.

ICC expands Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup to 14 teams for 2027 and 2031 editions

  • The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to expand the Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup from 10 teams to 14 teams for the 2027 and 2031
  • ICC has also decided to expand the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup to 20 teams and the tournament will take place every two years from 2024–2030.
  • The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup format will have two groups of seven, with the top three in each group progressing to a Super Six stage, followed by semi-finals and final.
