  • NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog and Piramal Foundation have launched ‘Surakshit Hum Surakshit Tum Abhiyaan’ in 112 aspirational districts to assist district administrations in providing home care support to COVID-19 patients who are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms.
  • ‘Surakshit Hum Surakshit Tum Abhiyaan’ is a significant initiative that responds to immediate needs and will provide long-term support to India’s poorest communities in the 112 aspirational districts.

  • India launched the ‘Mission Innovation CleanTech Exchange’, a global initiative that will create a network of incubators across member countries to accelerate clean energy innovation.
  • The network was virtually launched at the Innovating to Net Zero Summit hosted by Chile. It will provide access to the expertise and market insights needed to support new technologies to access new markets globally.

India and Thailand Navy begin 3-day coordinated patrol exercise ‘CORPAT’ in the Andaman Sea

  • The 31st edition of India and Thailand coordinated patrol exercise ‘CORPAT’ has started in the Andaman Sea.
  • The Indian Navy’s offshore patrol vessel INS Saryu and Thailand Navy’s ship Krabi along with Dornier maritime patrol aircraft from both navies are participating in the three-day coordinated patrol exercise.

HeidelbergCement to build the world’s first carbon-neutral cement plant in Sweden

  • The world’s second-largest cement maker HeidelbergCement has planned to turn its Swedish factory in Slite into the world’s first CO2-neutral cement plant by 2030 via carbon capture technology.
  • The installation at the Slite plant will capture up to 8 million tonnes of CO2annually, which corresponds to the plant’s total emissions.

CRISIL revises India’s GDP forecast to 9.5% from 11% for FY22

  • Rating agency CRISIL has revised India’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth forecast to 9.5 per cent from the earlier projection of 11 per cent. It also projected India’s GDP growth to 7.3 per cent for FY21.

  • According to the QS World University Rankings, The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore is the world’s top research university. IISc has got a perfect score of 100 out of 100 for the citations per faculty (CPF) metric in the analysis by London-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
  • The top three institutions of India and their overall ranking is IIT Bombay (177th Rank), IIT Delhi (185th Rank) and IISC Bengaluru (186th Rank).
  • According to the 18th edition of the rankings, the India Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay is India’s top-ranked institution for the fourth consecutive year at the QS World University Rankings 2022.
  • The top three institutions globally are Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Oxford and Stanford University in the QS World University Rankings 2022.

Tata Consultancy Services was named as the title partner of the London Marathon from 2022

  • India’s largest IT services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced that it will become the title partner of the London Marathon from 2022. It is a six-year partnership signed after existing sponsor Virgin Money choose not to extend its deal beyond 2021.
  • TCS developed the official event app Virgin Money London Marathon app that allowed participants and spectators to get the fullest London Marathon experience.
