  • The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development is celebrating the International Women’s Day Week from 01 March 2022 to 08 March 2022 as a part of nationwide celebrations of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
  • Union Ministry of Women and Child Development Smriti Zubin Irani has launched the ‘Stree Manoraksha’ project in collaboration with the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS).
  • This project will cover insurance of ₹ 5 lakhs for the workers of One Stop Centres (OSC) under the Nirbhaya Fund.

  • Airports Authority of India (AAI) has undertaken the work of constructing a Greenfield Airport in Hollongi, which is 15 km from Itanagar.

International Telecommunication Union is set to open an area office and innovation centre for South Asia in New Delhi

  • Union Minister of Telecom Ashwini Vaishnaw and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Secretary-General Houlin Zhao signed a pact to establish an area office and innovation centre of the United Nations telecom body ITU in New Delhi.
  • The setting up of this area office will provide greater access and engagement to India and South Asian countries in global policy and standard formation in the field of telecommunication.

Special Logo to Mark 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between India and the Netherlands

  • This year (2022) India and the Netherlands are commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
  • To mark the occasion, Sanjay Verma, Secretary (West) in the Union Ministry of External Affairs and Marten van den Berg, ambassador of the Netherlands to India released a joint logo.
  • The logo features a lotus and a tulip – the national flowers of both countries. The chakra in the middle of the logo depicts the bond of our friendship and the flag colours enhance the connections that exist between the people of India and the people of the Netherlands.

Swiss International Air Lines becomes the first airline in the world to use solar aviation fuel

  • Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) became the first airline in the world to use solar aviation fuel (sun-to-liquid fuel).  SWISS and its parent Lufthansa Group have agreed with synthetic fuel group Synhelion to use its solar aviation fuel.
  • This process devised by Synhelion, a spinoff from the Swiss Institute of Technology, uses concentrated sunlight to produce carbon-neutral kerosene.

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has cancelled the licence of Maharashtra-based Sarjeraodada Naik Shirala Sahakari Bank Limited.
  • This bank was found to lack adequate capital and earning prospects under Section 11(1) and Section 22(3) (d) read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.

CDSL becomes the first depository in India with 60 million active demat accounts

  • Central Depository Services Limited (CDSL) became the first depository in India that has more than six-crore plus (60 million) active demat accounts. The focus of registration of new demat accounts is shifting from metro cities to tier II and tier III cities according to the recent trends.
