NHEV constructs India’s first green charging hub along the Delhi—Jaipur—Agra e-highway

  • National Highway for Electric Vehicle (NHEV), an organisation for promoting electrification of India’s transportation systems, is constructing India’s first green charging hub along the Delhi—Jaipur—Agra e-highway.
  • This new initiative is unique in a way of using green construction techniques for such electric vehicle stations with net-zero carbon infrastructure.

Reliance Industries opens India’s first-of-a-kind and largest global destination ‘Jio World Centre’ in Mumbai

  • Reliance Industries Limited has announced the opening of India’s largest and most prestigious multi-faceted destination ‘Jio World Centre’ in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
  • This centre was envisioned by the Director of Reliance Industries and Founder–Chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, Nita Ambani.
  • This centre covers an expanse of 18.5 acres in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and is set to become an iconic business, commerce and culture destination and landmark in India.

India’s largest electric vehicle charging station opens in Gurugram

  • India’s largest electric vehicle (EV) charging station with a capacity of 121 charging points for four wheelers was opened in Sector 86 of Gurugram, Haryana.
  • With this EV charging station, Gurugram currently has two of the largest electric vehicle charging stations in India. The first EV charging station was opened in January 2022 with a capacity of 100 charging points for four wheelers in Sector 52 of Gurugram.
  • Alektrify Private Limited has developed the new EV charging station under the Ease of Doing Business

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a 5-feet tall statue of great Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Pune, Maharashtra.
  • He also launched a 12-km stretch of 32.2-km-long metro rail project at a total cost of more than ₹ 11,400 crores in Pune. Pune Metro is the first project in India to have aluminium body coaches, indigenously manufactured under the ‘Make in India’

Telangana  Government signs an MoU with the National Stock Exchange to fuel the growth of MSMEs in Telangana

  • India’s leading stock exchange, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Telangana to help the fuel growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Telangana.
  • Under this MoU, NSE with the support of the Government of Telangana will conduct awareness drives through seminars, MSME camps, knowledge sessions, roadshows and workshops to guide corporates across Telangana for fundraising on the NSE Emerge platform and also handhold the companies in the listing process.

India adds a record 10 GW solar capacity in 2021

  • According to the Mercom India Research report, India installed a record 10 gigawatt (GW) of solar capacity during the calendar year 2021, registering a year-on-year rise of 212 per cent.
  • According to this report titled ‘Annual 2021 India Solar Market Update’, India had made 2 GW of solar capacity installations during 2020. The cumulative solar installed capacity in India was approximately 49 GW at the end of December 2021.

  • Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has chosen Intellect Design Arena to implement the upgraded version of the Intellect Quantum core banking solution to power the next stage of RBI’s digital transformation agenda.
  • The next generation Intellect Quantum solution is built on cutting-edge application programming interface (API)- first, cloud-native and cloud-agnostic microservices architecture supported by a rich set of packaged business components.

The average increment in India is likely to increase up to 9.1 per cent in 2022

  • According to the 2022 Workforce and Increments Trends Survey by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP, the average increment in India is expected to go up to 1 per cent in 2022 from 8 per cent in 2021.
  • The 2022 projected increment is higher than the pre-COVID-19 increment in 2019 by 50 basis points (bps).

Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India signs an MoU with Indian Banks association to collaborate on capacity building for financial creditors

  • Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) and the Indian Banks Association (IBA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on capacity building for financial creditors on insolvency, bankruptcy and other related subjects.
  • IBBI Chairman Ravi Mital urged bankers to share their suggestions and feedback regarding the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) ecosystem with the IBBI to improve the processes under the IBC.

  • US-based telecom software provider Mavenir has received ‘trusted source’ approval from the trusted telecom cell of the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS).

RSBVL partners with Sanmina Corporation to set up an electronics manufacturing hub in Chennai

  • Reliance Strategic Business Ventures Limited (RSBVL), a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), has partnered with Sanmina Corporation to set up electronics manufacturing hub in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
  • This manufacturing hub will initially operate from Sanmina Corporation’s existing 100-acre campus in Chennai and will be expanded to new sites across India depending on the business requirements.

NIESBUD signs an MoU with the Union Ministry of Rural Development to implement the Startup Village Entrepreneurship Programme

  • National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Union Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) to develop a sustainable model for promoting entrepreneurship at the grassroots by initiating the Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP).
  • This partnership aims to support entrepreneurs in rural areas to set up enterprises at the village level in non-agricultural sectors.

India’s first indigenous flying trainer HANSA-NG successfully completes sea-level trials

  • India’s first indigenous flying trainer ‘HANSA-NG’ has successfully completed the sea-level trials at Puducherry. It was designed and developed by CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories.
  • This aircraft was flown to Puducherry covering a distance of 140 nautical miles in 5 hours at a cruising speed of 155 km/hr.

Indian Navy successfully test-fires BrahMos cruise missile with ‘pinpoint accuracy’ from INS Chennai

  • The Indian Navy successfully demonstrated the accuracy of an extended-range land-attack BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from the stealth destroyer INS Chennai.
  • This missile hit its intended target with pinpoint accuracy after traversing an extended range trajectory and performing complex manoeuvres. Both BrahMos missile and INS Chennai were indigenously built and highlight the cutting-edge of Indian missile and ship-building prowess.

  • The Union Government has appointed Delhi High Court Chief Justice N. Patel as the new Chairperson of the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) for four years. He replaced Justice Shiva Kirti Singh.

State Bank of India appoints Nitin Chugh as its new Deputy Managing Director

  • State Bank of India (SBI) has appointed Nitin Chugh as its new Deputy Managing Director (DMD) to drive its digital banking operations for three years.
  • He was the CEO and Managing Director of Ujjivan Small Finance Bank. He joined there from HDFC Bank where he served as the Group Head of Digital Banking.

Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court

  • The Union Government has appointed Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava as the Acting Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court (as per Article 223 of the Constitution of India). He succeeded Justice Akil Abdulhamid Kureshi.

ITBP organises India’s first ice-climbing event in Ladakh

  • The Northwest Frontier of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) organised an ice-wall-climbing competition in Ladakh for the first time in India. More than 100 climbers from 13 teams across India took part in this ice climbing event.
  • This ice-wall-climbing event was organised by ITBP officials in collaboration with the Ladakh Mountaineering Guides Association in Leh.

Mithali Raj becomes the first woman cricketer to appear at six ICC world cups

  • Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj became the first woman and only the third cricketer to appear in six ICC world cups. She joined former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad to appear in six ICC world cups.
  • Mithali Raj made her maiden cricket world cup appearance in 2000, before playing the event in 2005, 2009, 2013, 2017 and now in 2022.
