NITI Aayog partners with Snap Inc for Augmented-Reality skilling among the Indian youth

  • NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) has partnered with camera firm Snap Inc, which owns social media platform Snapchat, to drive Augmented-Reality (AR) skilling among the Indian youth.
  • Snap Inc is expected to train over 12,000 teachers affiliated with the Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) on augmented reality, enabling the reach of this programme to millions of students affiliated with ATL’s network of schools.

India’s largest reclining statue of Buddha is set to come up in Bodh Gaya, Bihar

  • Buddha International Welfare Mission is constructing India’s largest reclining statue of Buddha in Bodh Gaya, Bihar. This statue will be 100 ft long and 30 ft high and will be completed by February 2023.
  • This statue will feature Buddha in a sleeping position, known as the Mahaparinirvana Mudra and will be made with fibreglass.

Iran launches its second military satellite into space

  • Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has successfully launched their second military satellite named ‘Noor 2’ into space.
  • Noor 2 is orbiting at an altitude of 500 kilometres (311 miles). Iran’s first military satellite named Noor (meaning ‘light’) was launched in April 2020.

Hero MotoCorp is set to launch its first electric scooter under the new brand name ‘Vida’

  • Hero MotoCorp Limited, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, has planned to launch its first electric vehicle on 01 July 2022 under the brand name ‘Vida’.
  • This electric vehicle model will be produced at a factory in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. This company will also set up a $ 100 million global sustainability fund to help entrepreneurs with environmental, social and governance solutions.
