RBI excludes Lakshmi Vilas Bank from the Second Schedule of the RBI Act
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has excluded Lakshmi Vilas Bank (LVB) from the Second Schedule of the RBI Act after it was merged with DBS Bank India Limited (DBIL) last year (2020).
- A bank mentioned in the Second Schedule of the Reserve Bank of India Act is known as a ‘Scheduled Commercial Bank’.

eNAM selects Kotak Mahindra Bank as its digital payments partner
- Kotak Mahindra Bank has been selected as a digital payments partner by the National Agriculture Market (eNAM). The bank will enable and facilitate online transactions for all stakeholders on the eNam platform, including farmers, traders and farmer producer organisations (FPOs).
- The bank will provide payment, clearing and settlement services on the eNAM platform to facilitate trade between a buyer and seller of agri-produce.

NDDB inks an MoU with EESL to offer energy-efficient solutions to the dairy industry
- National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) signed an agreement with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) to promote efficient renewable technologies in the dairy industry. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Executive Director of NDDB Meenesh Shah and EESL Director (Projects) Venkatesh Dwivedi.

100-million-year-old Sauropod Dinosaur Bones discovered in Meghalaya
- Researchers have identified fossil bone fragments of Sauropod dinosaurs dating back to about 100 million years from an area around West Khasi Hills district in Meghalaya.
- The fossil bone fragments of Sauropod dinosaurs have been found by researchers from the Geological Survey of India’s (GSI) Palaeontology division in the NortheEast.

Mahatma Gandhiji’s former personal secretary Kalyanam passed away at 99
- Former secretary of Mahatma Gandhi, V Kalyanam, passed away at the age of 99. He was Gandhi’s personal secretary from 1943 to 1948. He joined the freedom struggle in 1942 during Quit India Movement.
Acclaimed children’s author Subhadra Sen Gupta passed away
- Well-known author Subhadra Sen Gupta passed away due to COVID-19. She wrote over 50 children’s books in different genres. She won the Sahitya Akademi’s Bal Sahitya Puraskar in 2015.
