Tamil Nadu has the Highest number of Women Entrepreneurs in India

 

According to the report of Sheatwork, a knowledge hub for women entrepreneurs, Tamil Nadu has the highest number of women entrepreneurs in India followed by Kerala and West Bengal.

Goa, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and West Bengal are the top five states that offer the maximum number of schemes for women entrepreneurs.

As per the report, the education sector has the maximum number of women entrepreneurs followed by financial services, insurance, livestock, forestry.


Govt fixes Sovereign Gold Bond rate at Rs 2,961/gram

The government has fixed the issue price of Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) at 2,961 rupees per gram for the next subscription period under Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme 2017 -18.

The government, in consultation with the Reserve Bank, has decided to offer a discount of Rs 50 per gram to investors applying online and making payments digitally.

Under the scheme, the bonds are denominated in units of one gram of gold and multiples thereof. Minimum investment in the bonds is one gram, with a maximum limit of 500 grams per person, per fiscal year.


‘Rural Livelihood’ scheme for Northeast India

The “North East Rural Livelihood Project” is launched by the Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region Dr Jitendra Singh. The objective of the scheme is to assist over 10,000 Self Help Groups (SHGs) and to benefit about three lakh poor households.

The scheme is supported by the World Bank and will primarily benefit the tribal and the lower socioeconomic groups, including women, in the North-Eastern Region (NER). To begin with, four states, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura, will be taken up for helping the tribal and even the non-tribal lower groups living in remote areas.


Multi State Mega Mock Tsunami Exercise 2017 in East cost of India

Ministry of Home Affairs conducted a multi-State mega mock exercise on tsunami preparedness along the East Coast of India.This exercise was conducted through National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS).

According to the Home Ministry, the exercise is expected to take place in 31 coastal districts across four states and one Union Territory.

It is planned on the occasion of the 2nd World Tsunami Awareness Day held on November 5, 2017.


Infrastructure projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore for Tamil Nadu

Central Government approved infrastructure projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore in Tamil Nadu including three elevated corridors for Chennai and bus ports at Madurai, Coimbatore and Salem that will be on par with airports.

Highway projects that have been announced are Chennai- Bengaluru Expressway at an estimated cost of Rs 20,000 crore and three new elevated corridors :Tambaram- Chengelpatu at a cost of Rs 2250 crore, Poonamalee- Maduravoyal at a cost of Rs 1500 crore and the Tiruvallur Corridor at a cost of Rs 1000 crore).

HRD ministry launches Digital Signature campaign on Constitution Day

Ministry of Human Resources Development has launched a Digital Signature campaign on Constitution Day affirming faith in Indian Constitution and to generate awareness on fundamental duties enshrined in the Constitution.

It is announced by Minister of Human Resources Development,Prakash Javadekar. Constitution Day is celebrated on 26th November.

India asks UN to declare 2018 as International Year of Millets

India has asked the United Nations to declare 2018 as the ‘International Year of Millets’ to promote it as nutrition-rich smart food across the world.

Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh wrote a letter to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres stating that there is a need to promote millets as awareness is low among consumers, policy makers as well as food industry. Sorghum, Bajra and Ragi are some popular millets in India.

State Bank of India has launched a unified integrated app called YONO. It offers all kinds of financial and lifestyle products. The abbreviation of YONO is You Need Only One. It is the first digital banking platform which offers customised products to the customer.

YONO will also allow customers to meet their lifestyle needs across 14 categories including booking and renting cabs, entertainment, dining experience, travel and stay, medical needs.

To provide the customised offers and discounts, SBI has partnered with nearly 60 e-commerce players including Amazon, Uber, Ola, Myntra, Jabong,Shoppers Stop, Cox & Kings, Thomas Cook, Yatra, Airbnb, Swiggy, and Byus.

Indian football team remains 105th in FIFA rankings

The Indian football team remains at 105th in the latest FIFA (International Federation of Association Football) rankings.In Asia, India is at 15th, ahead of North Korea, Jordan and Bahrain.

About 10 teams in the top 32 of the rankings have failed to make it to the FIFA World Cup 2018 to be held in Russia.Among the notable absentees include Italy, ranked 14, Chile, ranked 10 and United States ranked 24.

India drew with Myanmar 2-2 in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers at the Sri Kanteerava Stadium in Bangalore which made India to get the same place.

In Asian rankings Iran is in the First place and in world rankings Germany tops the list

Ritu Phogat Clinches Silver medal in World Wrestling Championship

India wrestler Ritu Phogat (48kg) clinched a silver medal in the Under-23 Senior World Wrestling Championship. The event held at Poland.

Ritu’s 2017 Achievements:

She had won the National championship in Indore. She also won a bronze medal at the Asian Championships.
