India’s First Portal Dedicated to Para-Sports Launched:

In a bid to create awareness about para-sports and provide a platform to para sportspersons to narrate their stories of triumph and adversity,thenationspride.com, the country’s first portal dedicated to para-sports was launched.thenationspride.com is a non-profit initiative, helmed by 17-year-old Mumbai student and sports enthusiast, Saachi Munot.


Prime Minister Launched Intensified Mission Indradhanush:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi  launched an intensive immunisation drive from Gujarat’s Vadnagar , saying no child should suffer from any vaccine-preventable disease.

Through the ‘Intensified Mission Indradhanush’ or IMI, the government aims to reach every child below the age of two years and pregnant women still uncovered under the routine immunisation programme.

RCF to get rs 300cr loan from IREDA:

Reliance Capital arm will get a loan assistance of Rs 300 crore from IREDA and utilise the funds for lending it to its renewable energy projects.


2k crore sanctional to set up Aadhaar centres in post offices:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved Rs 2,000 crore specifically for setting up Aadhaar centres in post offices, a move that will see private contractors phased out from the data collection process.

Aadhaar enrolment and updation facilities will be available in around 15,000 post offices by March 31 next year.

The centres will have machines approved by the Unique Identification Authority of India.


Age limit for NPS entry to be raised to 65 years :

Pension regulator PFRDA notified the increase in maximum entry age limit for National Pension System (NPS) to 65 years, its Chairman Hemant Contractor has said.


Aadhaar Made Mandatory For Small Saving Schemes as Post Office Deposits, PPF, KVP:

The government has made biometric identification Aadhaar mandatory for all post office deposits, PPF, the National Savings Certificate scheme and Kisan Vikas Patra.

Existing depositors have been given time till December 31, 2017 to provide the 12-digit unique identification number.


NABARD sanctions Rs. 273 crore to Andhra Pradesh for development projects:

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned an amount Rs. 273.06 crore to the Andhra Pradesh Government under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) for Rural Water supply, Road and Bridge projects.


AIIB, ADB approves $100 million loan for India’s power sector:

China-led AIIB and multilateral funding agency ADB will co-finance a USD 100-million loan for India to improve power transmission network and expand the use of solar and wind energy.

The loan, approved by the Board of Directors of the Beijing-headquartered Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), involves co-financing of USD 50 million from the Manila-based Asian Development Bank (ADB).


Andhra Pradesh Signs MoU With Mastercard to Set Up Centre of Excellence in Vizag:

The Andhra Pradesh Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mastercard to setup a centre of excellence in Visakhapatnam.

The agreement is believed to digitally transform the technology sector in Andhra Pradesh. As part of agreement, MasterCard will also organise business summits in Visakhapatnam every year.

Pepsi India CEO shivakumar Quits:

Nearly four years after joining PepsiCo India as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, D Shivakumar, 57, has called it quits. The company announced that Shivakumar would be leaving PepsiCo India on December 31.

Shivakumar, who is called Shiv, would join Aditya Birla group as head, corporate strategy and business development. This is effective January 2018.


PNB MetLife appoints Srivastava as MD & CEO:

PNB MetLife India Insurance has a new MD and CEO in Ashish Srivastava. He will be responsible for leading all aspects of the business in the country. Prior to this elevation, Srivastava was an interim CEO at PNB MetLife.


RBI forms High-level Task Force on Public Credit Registry under Yeshwant M. Deosthalee:

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has formed a High-level Task Force on Public Credit Registry (PCR) for India. The task force has been constituted under the chairmanship of Yeshwant M. Deosthalee.


ICC names Corey Anderson as event ambassador for U-19 World Cup 2018:

International Cricket Council (ICC) announced New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson as the event ambassador for the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup 2018 that will bring together the world’s future cricket stars.


Pooja Kapur concurrently appointed as next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Macedonia:

Ms. Pooja Kapur, presently Ambassador of India to the Republic of Bulgaria, has been concurrently accredited as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Macedonia, with residence in Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria.

Richard Thaler Honoured with Economics Nobel:

Richard H. Thaler, whose work has persuaded many economists to pay more attention to human behavior, and many governments to pay more attention to economics, was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences .

Professor Thaler is the rare economist to win a measure of fame before winning the prize. He is an author of a best-selling book, “Nudge,” about helping people to make better decisions.


TAKE Solutions to receive Golden Peacock Award:

TAKE Solutions would receive the Golden Peacock Award for Excellence in Corporate Governance.

The award, set up by the Institute of Directors, London recognises exemplary organisational performances through a three-tier process.

Fifth seeded Indian pair of Harmeet Desai and Souymajit Ghosh lost to second seeds Ho Kwan Kit and Ng Pak Nam of Korea to settle for the silver medal at the ITTF Challenge Polish Open in Czestochowa.

World Post Day is celebrated each year on 9 October. The event was declared by the 1969 Universal Postal Congress in Tokyo as a means to mark the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union’s (UPU) creation in 1874.
