As mentioned above , to ace a particular phase of the exam, two things are considered vital, they are

(i) Overall Cutoff marks

(ii) Individual Cutoff marks of each section *

The cutoff marks for the IBPS CLERK PRELIMS EXAM 2017 has been released and here goes the cutoff marks for various sections and their individual cutoff marks.

The Individual Cutoff marks of IBPS CLERK PRELIMS EXAM 2017 (for TN)

Quantitative Aptitude – 9.25

Reasoning Ability – 10

English Language – 6.50

The Individual Cutoff marks of IBPS CLERK PRELIMS EXAM 2017 (for some states)

Quantitative Aptitude – 13.50

Reasoning Ability – 14.50

English Language – 9.50

The Overall cutoff marks of the IBPS CLERK PRELIMS EXAM 2017 is different for different states as this exam is a Clerical exam and so every state has a different cutoff marks for the IBPS CLERK PRELIMS EXAM. This is the common one for all the lower grade exams, since regional language criteria plays a vital role in the last phase of the exam.

The Overall cutoff marks for the IBPS CLERK PRELIMS EXAM for TamilNadu is 53.25 ( OBC ) and we have mentioned the cutoff marks for the other states in the table below.

As you can clearly see, the cutoff marks is clearly defined by the number of vacancies and also by the difficulty level of the questions asked in the exams. The accuracy of the answers also plays a vital role in determining the marks for the aspirants and so it will also get added to the above list. You will be confused at seeing the cutoff marks , as they will have some sought of process for arriving at the scores.

Process of Arriving at Scores :

1. The  Number of questions answered correctly after deducting the penalty for the wrong answers.

2. Difficulty Level of the Sections after the corrected scores from all the sections has been obtained. The Difficulty Level will be taken into consideration to arrive at the Equated Scores.

3. Scores of the Overall Cutoff Marks will be Equated to two digits after the decimal point.

The Total Scores of the Online Preliminary Examination of a candidate is taken as a sum of scores obtained by the candidate in the sections like English Language , Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude after the score arrival for each section. Do remember that the individual cutoff marks of each sections added together will not be the overall cutoff marks and the process of arriving at the overall cutoff marks for the respective states depends upon the various factors and the process of arriving at the over cutoff marks is different.

As you all see the individual cutoff marks for the English Language section is less when compared to the other sections (even though the English section had many new pattern questions and the questions asked in the exam was in the difficult level). Many of the candidates may have got marks because some of the questions were in the easier range(considering the easier questions which were not in the new pattern). The English section would have been the determining factor for many of the aspirants, so prepare for this section more, if you are preparing for the IBPS CLERK MAINS EXAM 2017.
