1. PM lauded the completion of Arch closure of the Chenab Bridge which is the World’s highest Railway Bridge

• The Prime Minister has lauded the completion of Arch closure of the Chenab Bridge, World’s highest Railway Bridge in Jammu & Kashmir by Indian Railways.
• The Chenab Bridge has a length of 1.315 km. It will be the highest railway bridge and is a part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project (USBRL).

1. உலகின் மிக உயரமான ரயில்வே பாலமான செனாப் பாலத்தின் வளைவு முடிவுற்றதை பிரதமர் பாராட்டினார்

• ஜம்மு காஷ்மீரில் உலகின் மிக உயரமான ரயில்வே பாலமான செனாப் பாலத்தை இந்திய ரயில்வே கட்டி முடித்ததை பிரதமர் பாராட்டியுள்ளார்.
• செனாப் பாலம்315 கி.மீ நீளம் கொண்டுள்ளது. இது உலகின் மிக உயரமான ரயில் பாலமாக இருக்கும் மற்றும் உதாம்பூர்-ஸ்ரீநகர்-பாரமுல்லா ரயில் இணைப்பு திட்டத்தின் ஒரு பகுதியாகும்.

2. Rajasthan became the first state to provide health insurance for all its residents

• Rajasthan became the first state in the country to provide health insurance for all its residents.
• The state began registration for ‘Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana’, under which each family in the state can claim up to Rs five lakh a year for medical expenses.
• People can get registered and be assured of cashless treatment. The health insurance scheme was announced by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in the state budget 2021-22.

3. ECI hosted 2 days International Virtual Election Visitors Programme (IVEP) 2021 on 5 and 6 April 2021

• Election Commission of India hosted the InternationalVirtual Election Visitors Programme (IEVP) 2021 for Election Management Bodies (EMBs) /Organisations from 26 countries and three International Organisations (International IDEA, International Foundation of Electoral Systems (IFES) and Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB)).
• Inaugural issue of A-WEB Journal of Elections was released by CEC Sunil Arora in the event.
• The Journal was published by the India A-WEB Centre, which was set up at ECI in 2019, highlights research papers, articles, book reviews, etc. from eminent writers, experts, researchers and practitioners from the A-WEB Community and from across democracies of the world in the area of Elections and Electoral Democracy. A-WEB Journal of Elections will bridge the gap between academics & practice in the electoral landscape.

3. 5 மற்றும் 6 ஏப்ரலில் ECI 2 நாள் சர்வதேச மெய்நிகர் தேர்தல் பார்வையாளர்கள் திட்டம் (IVEP) 2021ஐ நடத்தியது

4. IMF upgraded India’s growth forecast to 12.5 percent in 2021 World Economic Outlook report

• The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has upgraded its growth projection for India to 12.5 per cent for Financial Year 2021-22, which is 1 per cent higher than its previous report.
• IMF has also said that inflation will taper down to 4.9 per cent in the current financial year.

4. 2021ஆம் ஆண்டில் இந்தியாவின் வளர்ச்சி கணிப்பை 12.5 சதவீதமாக சர்வதேச நாணய நிதியம் திருத்தியமைத்துள்ளது

• சர்வதேச நாணய நிதியம் (IMF) 2021-22 நிதியாண்டிற்கான இந்தியாவுக்கான வளர்ச்சி கணிப்பை5 சதவீதமாக உயர்த்தியுள்ளது. அதன் சமீபத்திய உலக பொருளாதார கண்ணோட்ட அறிக்கையில், சர்வதேச நாணய நிதியம் இந்தியாவின் மொத்த உள்நாட்டு உற்பத்தியை அது வெளியிட்ட முந்தைய அறிக்கையை விட 1 சதவீதம் அதிகமாக உயர்ந்துள்ளது.

5. Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana was appointed as the 48^th Chief Justice of India

• The President of India, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (2) of Article 124 of the Constitution of India, appointed Shri Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana, Judge of the Supreme Court, to be the 48^th Chief Justice of India.
• Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana, will take over as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India on 24 April 2021. He will be 48th Chief Justice of India.
• He is from Ponnavaram Village, Krishna District in Andhra Pradesh.

5. நீதிபதி நுதலபதி வெங்கட ரமணா இந்தியாவின் 48வது தலைமை நீதிபதியாக நியமிக்கப்பட்டார்

• இந்திய அரசியலமைப்பின் 124வது விதியின் (2) பிரிவினால் வழங்கப்பட்ட அதிகாரங்களைப் பயன்படுத்தி இந்தியகுடியரசுத் தலைவர், உச்சநீதிமன்ற நீதிபதியாக நீதிபதி நுதலபதி வெங்கட ரமணாவை இந்தியாவின் 48வது தலைமை நீதிபதியாக நியமித்தார்.

7. National Maritime Day – 5 April

• National Maritime Day is observed on 5 April every year.
• This year, India will mark its 58^th edition of National Maritime Day.
• The first celebration took place in 1964 to spread awareness about intercontinental commerce and the economy.

9. India finished with 21 medals, including 5 golds in Dubai Para Badminton

• India topped the tally with 21 medals (5 gold, 6 silver and 10 bronze medals), ahead of France who finished with eight medals (4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze) and Malaysia with seven medals (3 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze) in the 3^rd Sheikh Hamdan bin Al Maktoum Dubai Para-Badminton International 2021 in Dubai.
• Defending world champion Pramod Bhagat clinch two gold medals.
• Krishna Nagar and Prem Kumar Ale were also won two gold medals for India in combined SH6 and the mixed doubles WH1-WH2 categories.

• April 5 is celebrated as the 114^th birthday of Babu Jagjivan Ram.
• Babu Jagjivan Ram holds a world record of being a parliamentarian for 50 years between 1936 and 1986.
• He was the defence minister of India during the India-Pakistan war of 1971.
• Babu Jagjivan Ram was also the deputy prime minister of the country between 1977 and 1979.
• During India’s Independent movement, Babu Jagjivan Ram founded the All-India Depressed Classes League in 1935 that worked towards equality for the ‘untouchables’.
