NATIONAL

1. INS Rajput was decommissioned in Visakhapatnam

• The first destroyer of the Indian Navy, ‘INS Rajput’ was decommissioned in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. INS Rajput is one of the ships of the Kashin-class destroyers built by the erstwhile USSR under Project 61. It was commissioned on 4 May 1980 and has rendered yeoman service to the Indian Navy for over 41 years.

Kashin-class destroyers

• The Kashin-class destroyers were a series of anti-aircraft guided missile destroyers built for the USSR Navy under Project 61. No ships of the Kashin-class destroyers remain in service with the Russian Navy now, but three modified ships continue in service with the Indian Navy as Rajput-class destroyers – INS Rana, INS Ranvir and INS Ranvijay.
• INS Ranjith was decommissioned in 2019 as it sunk during the TROPEX-21 exercise. INS Rajput was decommissioned on May 2021.

1. ஐஎன்எஸ் ராஜ்புத் விசாகப்பட்டினத்தில் சேவையிலிருந்து விடுவிக்கப்பட்டது

• இந்திய கடற்படையின் முதல் அழிக்கும் வகை கப்பலான ‘ஐஎன்எஸ் ராஜ்புத்’, ஆந்திரப் பிரதேசத்தின் விசாகப்பட்டினத்தில் சேவையிலிருந்து விடுவிக்கப்பட்டது. முந்தைய ஒருங்கிணைந்த ரஷ்யா உருவாக்கிய காஷின்-வகுப்பு அழிக்கும் வகை கப்பல்களின் முன்னணி கப்பல் ஐஎன்எஸ் ராஜ்புத் ஆகும். இது 4 மே 1980 அன்று இந்திய கடற்படையின் சேவையில் இணைக்கப்பட்டது மற்றும் 41 ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேலாக இந்திய கடற்படைக்கு சேவை செய்துள்ளது.

காஷின்-வகுப்பு அழிக்கும் வகை கப்பல்கள்

• காஷின் வகுப்பு அழிக்கும் கப்பல்கள் திட்டம் 61இன் கீழ் சோவியத் கடற்படைக்காக கட்டப்பட்ட விமான எதிர்ப்பு வழிகாட்டுதல் ஏவுகணை அழிப்பான்களின் வரிசையாகும். இப்போது ரஷ்ய கடற்படையில் எந்த காஷின் வகுப்பு  அழிக்கும் கப்பல்களும் சேவையில் இல்லை. ஆனால் மூன்று மாற்றியமைக்கப்பட்ட கப்பல்கள் இந்திய கடற்படையுடன் ராஜபுத்திர வகுப்பு அழிக்கும் வகை கப்பல்களாக தொடர்ந்து சேவையில் உள்ளன — ஐஎன்எஸ் ராணா, ஐஎன்எஸ் ரன்வீர், ஐஎன்எஸ் ரன்விஜய்.
• டிரோபெக்ஸ்-21 பயிற்சியின் போது மூழ்கியதால் ஐஎன்எஸ் ரஞ்சித் 2019இல் கடற்படையின் சேவையிலிருந்து விடுவிக்கப்பட்டது. ஐஎன்எஸ் ராஜ்புத் மே 2021இல் இந்திய கடற்படையின் சேவையிலிருந்து விடுவிக்கப்பட்டது.

• Haryana becomes the first state to reimburse GST on COVID-19 related donations.
• The reimbursement of GST will be available only in cases where COVID-19 related material is donated free of cost to the State Government of Haryana, state-run hospitals, or any hospitals or institutions.

2. கோவிட்-19 தொடர்பான நன்கொடைகள் மீதான ஜிஎஸ்டியை திருப்பித் தரும் முதல் மாநிலமாக மாறியது ஹரியானா

• கோவிட்-19 தொடர்பான நன்கொடைகளுக்கு ஜிஎஸ்டியை திருப்பித் தரும் முதல் மாநிலமாக ஆனது ஹரியானா.
• ஜிஎஸ்டியை திரும்ப செலுத்துதல் முறை கோவிட்-19 தொடர்பான பொருட்களை ஹரியானா மாநில அரசு, அரசு நடத்தும் மருத்துவமனைகள் அல்லது மற்ற மருத்துவமனைகள் அல்லது நிறுவனங்களுக்கு இலவசமாக நன்கொடையாக வழங்கப்படும் சந்தர்ப்பங்களில் மட்டுமே கிடைக்கும்.

3. SPOT becomes the new COVID-19 testing method

• SPOT has become the new COVID-19 testing SPOT stands for Scalable and Portable Testing. It has the capability to give a result in 30 minutes.
• This method was developed by USA’s Carle Illinois College of Medicine. This method uses RT-LAMP (reverse Transcriptase loop Medical Isothermal Amplification) technique.

3. ஸ்பாட் புதிய கோவிட்-19 சோதனை முறையாக மாறுகிறது

• ஸ்பாட் (SPOT) புதிய கோவிட்-19 சோதனை முறையாக மாறுகிறது. ஸ்பாட் என்பது அளவிடக்கூடிய மற்றும் எளிதாக எடுத்துச்செல்லக்கூடிய சோதனையாகும் (Scalable and Portable Testing). இது 30 நிமிடங்களில் சோதனை முடிவைக் காட்டும் திறனைக் கொண்டுள்ளது.
• இந்த முறை அமெரிக்காவின் கார்ல் இல்லினாய்ஸ் மருத்துவ கல்லூரியால் உருவாக்கப்பட்டது. இந்த முறை RT-LAMP (ரிவர்ஸ் டிரான்ஸ்கிரிப்டேஸ் லூப் மெடிக்கல் ஐசோதர்மால் ஆம்ப்ளிஃபிகேஷன்) தொழில்நுட்பத்தைப் பயன்படுத்துகிறது.

4. The United Launch Alliance launches SBRIS Geo-5 missile warning satellite successfully into space

• The United Launch Alliance has launched the SBRIS Geo-5 missile warning satellite into space. Atlas V rocket carried the satellite into space. The main aim of the launch is missile warning, battlespace and missile defence from space.
• The United Launch Alliance is a US joint space venture.

• யுனைடெட் லான்ச் கூட்டணி SBRIS ஜியோ-5 ஏவுகணை எச்சரிக்கை செயற்கைக்கோளை விண்வெளியில் செலுத்தியது. அட்லஸ் v ராக்கெட் அச்செயற்கைக்கோளை விண்ணில் ஏவியது. ஏவுகணை எச்சரிக்கை, விண்வெளி போர் மற்றும் விண்வெளியில் இருந்து ஏவுகணை பாதுகாப்பு ஆகியவையே இந்த ஏவுதலின் முக்கிய நோக்கமாகும்.
• யுனைடெட் லான்ச் கூட்டணி ஒரு அமெரிக்க கூட்டு விண்வெளி நிறுவனமாகும்.

5. China successfully launches a new ocean observation satellite named “Haiyang-2D”

• China has successfully launched “Haiyang-2D”, a new ocean-monitoring satellite, into orbit. The satellite was launched by a Long March-4B rocket carrying the Haiyang-2D (HY-2D) satellite from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northwest China.

5. “ஹையாங்-2டி” என்ற புதிய கடல் கண்காணிப்பு செயற்கைக்கோளை சீனா வெற்றிகரமாக விண்ணில் செலுத்தியது

• சீனா வெற்றிகரமாக “ஹையாங்-2டி”என்ற புதிய கடல் கண்காணிப்பு செயற்கைக்கோளை சுற்றுப்பாதையில் செலுத்தியது. வடமேற்கு சீனாவில் உள்ள ஜியுகுவான் செயற்கைக்கோள் ஏவுதளத்தில் இருந்து ஹையாங்-2டி (HY-2D) செயற்கைக்கோளை சுமந்து செல்லும் லான்க் மார்ச்-4 பி ராக்கெட் மூலம் இந்த செயற்கைக்கோள் விண்னில் செலுத்தப்பட்டது.

6. India ranks 3^rd in the ‘Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index’

• India ranks 3^rd in the ‘Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index’ released by Ernst & Young Global Limited (EY).
• The USA and China were placed at the first and second position, respectively.
• India was previously in the fourth position. India’s solar photo voltaiccapacity increased to 39 GW, marginally overtaking the wind power capacity. India is committed to set up a 450 GW renewable energy power capacity by 2030.

6. ‘புதுப்பிக்கத்தக்க எரிசக்தி நாட்டின் கவர்ச்சி குறியீட்டில்’ இந்தியா 3வது இடத்தில் உள்ளது

• ஏர்னஸ்ட் அண்ட் யங் குளோபல் நிறுவனம் (EY) வெளியிட்டுள்ள அறிக்கையின்படி, புதுப்பிக்கத்தக்க எரிசக்தி நாட்டின் கவர்ச்சி குறியீட்டில் (RECAI), இந்தியா மூன்றாவது இடத்தில் உள்ளது.
• இந்த குறியீட்டில் அமெரிக்கா மற்றும் சீனா முறையே முதல் மற்றும் இரண்டாவது இடத்தில் உள்ளன.
• Tamil translation. முன்பு இந்த குறியீட்டில் இந்தியா நான்காவது இடத்தில் இருந்தது. இந்தியாவின் சூரிய சக்தி (solar photo voltaic capacity) 39 ஜிகாவாட் ஆக அதிகரித்துள்ளது. காற்றாலை மின் திறனைவிட இது சிறிதளவு அதிகமாகும். 2030க்குள் 450 ஜிகாவாட் புதுப்பிக்கத்தக்க எரிசக்தி திறனை அமைக்க இந்தியா உறுதி பூண்டுள்ளது.

7. Shankar Balasubramanian and David Klenerman win 2020 Millennium Technology Prize

• Cambridge University chemists Shankar Balasubramanian and David Klenerman were declared as the winners of the 2020 Millennium Technology Prize for their development of revolutionary sequencing techniques, which means DNA can now be read in super-fast times.
• They co-invented the Solexa-Illumina Next Generation DNA Sequencing (NGS) technology enabling fast, accurate, low-cost and large-scale genome sequencing.

• Indian rowers Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh qualified for the Tokyo Olympics in the men’s lightweight double sculls event by finishing second in the qualifying round. Jakar Khan finished fourth in the men’s singles sculls final.

10. World Metrology Day – 20 May

• World Metrology Day is celebrated on 20 May every year to raise awareness about metrology and its progress.
• World Metrology Day marks the signing of the metre convention held in Paris, France, on 20 May 1875. The day is being jointly implemented by the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML) and Bureau International Des Poids at M/s (BIPM).
• Theme 2021: “Measurements for global trade”
• Note: World Meteorology Day, which is celebrated on 23 March, is different from World Metrology Day.
