Dr Jitendra Singh launches electronic-Human Resource Management System (e-HRMS) on Good Governance Day:

The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh launched the electronic-Human Resource Management System (e-HRMS), in New Delhi. He launched it during the observance of Good Governance Day by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.

The e-service book launched for DoPT during March this year will also be integrated into the e-HRMS.This will enhance public delivery more satisfactory and more employees will be available for core work of the Government than maintaining of Service Book.


PM inaugurates new metro link between Noida and Delhi:
        
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, inaugurated a new metro link between Noida and Delhi. He unveiled a plaque at Botanical Garden Metro Station, to mark the inauguration of a portion of the Magenta Line of the Delhi Metro, connecting Botanical Garden in Noida with Kalkaji Mandir in South Delhi.


Bengaluru joins New York, Melbourne and Singapore, gets its own logo:
         Bengaluru City
joined the ranks of Singapore, Melbourne, New York, and became the first city in the country to have a logo of its own. The Tourism Department of the Karnataka Government recently launched the logo at the VidhanaSoudha, the seat of the state legislature of Karnataka.Brand Bengaluru got its own logo – the tagline ‘Bengaluru – Be U’ (be you) is expected to build the city’s image on the global stage.The city is the first to gets its own identity badge.

India to become world’s fifth largest economy in 2018, says CEBR:

India looks set to leapfrog Britain and France next year to become the world’s fifth-largest economy in dollar terms, a report showed.The Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) consultancy’s 2018 World Economic League Table painted an upbeat view of the global economy, boosted by cheap energy and technology prices.

India’s ascent is part of a trend that will see Asian economies increasingly dominate the top 10 largest economies over the next 15 years.China is likely to overtake the United States as the world’s No.1 economy in 2032.While Britain looks set to lag behindFrance over the next couple of years.

India rise to second spot in latest ICC T-20 rankings; Virat Kohli slips to third:

In Cricket, Team India has risen to the second spot in the latest ICC Twenty-20 rankings.Pakistan is at the top of the list.In the rankings for batsmen, Indian captain Virat Kohli slipped from the first spot to third, due to his absence in the series against the Lankans.The list is led by Aussie opener Aaron Finch, followed by West Indian Evin Lewis.Among the bowlers, JaspritBumrah has been pushed to the third spot behind Pakistan’s Imad Wasim and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan.


India finish as runners-up in SAFF U-15 Women’s Championships:

          India finished as runners-up in the SAFF Under-15 Women’s Championships. India lost to Bangladesh 0-1 in the final at Dhaka.In a closely contested game, Shamsun Nahar’s strike in the 41st minute helped Bangladesh to bag the title. India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan participated in this South Asian Football Federation tournament.


OBITUARY

‘Sound of Music’ actor Heather Menzies-Urich dies at 68:
       Actor Heather Menzies-Urich, who played one of the singing von Trapp children in the hit 1965 film The Sound of Music, has died. She was 68.
