SSC IMD 2017 : Eligibility Criteria Changed – Check Now

Dear SSC Aspirants,

SSC (Staff Selection Commission) has announced the results of the SSC IMD – Scientific Assistant posts in the month of May, this year. There has been a confusion in the eligibility criteria of the SSC IMD – Scientific Assistant post as 4 year courses graduates were not eligible after a notification from the board.

We have an update on the eligibility criteria of the SSC IMD – Scientific Assistant post Exam 2017. The total number of vacancies available for the post of Scientific Assistant in IMD (Indian Meteorological Department) is 1102. The official notification for the SSC – Scientific Assistant – IMD post was released n 18th July, 2017.

The official one from the Commission is as below and this is an excerpt from the official order. 

The Hon’ble CAT (PB), New Delhi in its order dated:23.05.2018 in the matter of Saurabh Kumar & Others vs. Ministry of Earth Sciences & Others in OA No. 1443 of 2018 observed that 4 years B.Tech/B.Sc. degree in relevant disciplines possessed by the applicants is higher than the 3-year Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Applications and 3-years Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and that the applicants are eligible for selection and appointment to the post of Scientific Assistant.

The Hon’ble CAT(PB) New Delhi has further quashed the clarification dated 28.03.2018 issued and uploaded by the department on the departmental website and further directed in its order to the respondent department to consider the candidatures of the applicants and other similarly placed candidate for selection and recruitment to the post of Scientific Assistant on the basis of their merit positions in the competitive examination held by the respondent – SSC pursuant to the notice of recruitment of Scientific Assistant in India Meteorological Department – Examination 2017.

In compliance of the above-mentioned judgement, clarificatory note dated 28.03.2018 issued and uploaded by the department on departmental website stands withdrawn.

So according to the present statement released the note that was issued on 28th March, 2018 is withdrawn and the candidature of the aspirants and applicants for the selection and recruitment for the post of Scientific Assistant on the basis of the merit in the Exam.
