1. ISRO’s PSLV C-51 launched Amazonia – 1 and 18 other satellites into orbit.

• On February 28, ISRO’s launch vehicle PSLV, successfully placed Amazonia-1, an optical earth observation satellite from Brazil, and 18 other satellites into Orbit.
• It was the first mission of ISRO in 2021 and the very first mission of its commercial arm NSIL.

Points to remember:

• Amazonia 1 is the first Earth Observation satellite, to be completely designed, integrated, tested and operated by Brazil. It is a Sun-synchronous (polar) orbiting satellite that will provide remote sensing data to users for monitoring deforestation in the Amazon region and analysis of diversified agriculture across Brazilian territory.
• The PSLV-C51 rocket also carried 18 small satellites as five being Indian satellites and 13 from the US. Four of the co-passenger satellites, such as Satish Dhawan Sat (SDSAT) and UNITYSATs were launched by IN-SPACe, and the other 14 satellites were launched by NSIL.
• Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) assess the needs and demands of private players, including educational and research institutions and explore ways to accommodate these requirements in consultation with ISRO.
• New Space India Limited (NSIL) is the commercial arm of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) with the primary responsibility of enabling Indian industries to take up high technology space-related activities.

2. The Bill for internal reservation of 10.5% to the Vanniyar community came into force.

• The bill allocating 10.5% internal reservation to the Vanniyar community has been approved by Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit.

Points to remember:

• The 20 per cent reservation for the most backward class is divided into three parts.
• Under the most backward class, 10.5% internal quota has been given to the Vanniyar community, 7% internal quota has been given to the De-notified community and 2.5% internal quota has been given to the remaining communities.

• மிகவும் பிற்படுத்தபட்ட வகுப்பினருக்கான 20 சதவீத இட ஒதுக்கீடு மூன்றாகப் பிரிக்கப்பட்டு வழங்கப்படுகிறது.
• மிகவும் பிற்படுத்தபட்ட வகுப்பின் கீழ் வரும் வன்னியர் பிரிவினருக்கு 10.5 % உள் ஒதுக்கீடும், சீர்மரபினருக்கு 7 % உள் ஒதுக்கீடும், எஞ்சிய பிரிவினருக்கு 2.5 % உள் ஒதுக்கீடும் வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

3. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates ‘Maritime India Summit 2021’

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated ‘Maritime India Summit 2021’ through video conferencing. The three-day Maritime India Summit is being organised by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways jointly with EY (Ernst & Young) as the knowledge partner and FICCI as the Industrial Partner on a virtual platform www.maritimeindiasummit.in

Points to Remember:

• Denmark is the partner country for the three-day summit. This 2^nd Maritime India Summit will be held in a virtual mode on 2 March 2021.
• This summit will provide a unique platform that will have the virtual and physical presence of prominent shipping and transport dignitaries/ministers from all over the world.
• The summit will visualize a roadmap for India’s Maritime sector for the next decade and will work to propel India to the forefront of the Global Maritime Sector.

3. ‘கடல்சார் இந்திய உச்சி மாநாடு 2021′-ஐ பிரதமர் நரேந்திர மோடி துவக்கி வைத்தார்.

4. Union Minister Harsh Vardhan virtually addresses National Science Day function from Imphal

• Union Minister of Science and Technology Harsh Vardhan addressed the National Science Day (NSD) function through video-conferencing from Imphal, Manipur.
• He also highlighted how science technology and innovation (STI) would impact our future in education, skills and functioning in the post-pandemic world.

Points to Remember:

• National Science Day is celebrated to commemorate the discovery of Raman Effect on February 28 every year.
• Awards to science communicators and women scientists were also conferred on the occasion.
• The theme of the National Science Day 2021 is ‘Future of STI: Impacts on Education, Skills, and Work’.

5. US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorised Johnson & Johnson’s single-shot Covid-19 vaccine.

• The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorised Johnson & Johnson’s single-shot Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use, which is the third effective vaccine in the country.

Points to remember:

• The J&J vaccine (JNJ-78436735 or Ad26.COV2.S) has been developed by Janssen Pharmaceutica, in collaboration with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School in Boston.
• To enter human cells, the vaccine is based on the SARS-CoV-2 virus’s genetic instructions for building the spike protein.
• Unlike other covid vaccines such as Pfizer, Moderna, Oxford-AstraZeneca and Bharat Biotech (Covaxin) vaccine, which are given as double doses, the J&J vaccine is administered as a single dose.

6. Russian supermodel ‘Supernova’ Natalia Vodianova is the new UN goodwill ambassador

• Russian supermodel, entrepreneur, public speaker, and philanthropist Natalia Mikhailovna Vodianova, popularly known as ‘Supernova’, has become a United Nations goodwill ambassador, pledging to promote the sexual and reproductive rights of women and girls and tackle stigmas surrounding their bodies.
• A goodwill ambassador is a person who advocates for a specific cause or global issue on the basis of their notability as a public figure.
• The United Nations Development Programme, along with other UN agencies, has long enlisted the voluntary services and support of prominent figures as Goodwill Ambassadors and advocates to shine a spotlight on important issues affecting our planet and its people.

7. Union Minister for Social justice and Empowerment Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot will virtually launch “Sugamya Bharat App”

• Union Minister for Social justice and Empowerment Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot will virtually launch “Sugamya Bharat App” and a handbook entitled “Access – The Photo Digest” through video conference on 2 March 2021.

Points to Remember:

• The App and the handbook have been developed by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
• Sugamya Bharat App — a Crowdsourcing Mobile Application is a means for sensitising and enhancing accessibility in the 3 pillars of the Accessible India Campaign i.e., built environment, transportation sector, and ICT ecosystem in India.
• The App provides for five main features, 4 of which are directly related to enhancing accessibility, while the fifth is a special feature meant only for Divyangjan for COVID-related issues.
• DEPwD has also prepared a handbook entitled “Access – The Photo Digest” with a collection of photographs from across different States and UTs.

• மார்ச் 2, 2021 அன்று மத்திய சமூக நீதி மற்றும் அதிகாரமளித்தல் அமைச்சர்               ஸ்ரீ தாவர்சந்த் கெஹ்லோட் கானொலிக் காட்சியின் மூலம் “சுகம்ய பாரத்”  செயலி மற்றும் “ஆக்சஸ் – தி ஃபோட்டோ டைஜஸ்ட்” என்ற கையேட்டை வெளியிடுகிறார்.

நினைவில் கொள்ள வேண்டியவை:

• சமூக நீதி மற்றும் அதிகாரமளித்தல் அமைச்சகத்தின் கீழ் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள் அதிகாரமளித்தல் துறையால் (DEPwD) இந்த செயலியும் கையேடுகளும் உருவாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.
• சுகம்யா பாரத் செயலி – ஒரு க்ரௌட்சோர்சிங் மொபைல் செயலி ஆகும். இது இந்திய அணுகல் பிரச்சாரத்தின் 3 தூண்களை உணர்த்துவதற்கும் மேம்படுத்துவதற்குமான வழிமுறையாகும். அவை சுற்றுச்சூழல், போக்குவரத்து துறை மற்றும் தகவல் மற்றும் தொழிநுட்ப சுற்றுச்சூழல் அமைப்பு  போன்றவை ஆகும்.
• இந்த பயன்பாடு ஐந்து முக்கிய அம்சங்களை வழங்குகிறது, அவற்றில் 4 நேரடியாக அணுகலை மேம்படுத்துவதோடு தொடர்புடையவையாகும். ஐந்தாவது சிறப்பு அம்சம் கொரோனா தொடர்பான சிக்கல்களுக்கு திவ்யாங்ஜானுக்கான மட்டும் உதவக்கூடியது ஆகும்.

8. Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav-2021 at Murshidabad concludes with colourful programs

• The third and final edition of the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav-2021 concluded with colourful cultural programmes.
• The two day Mahotsav was organised by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India from 27^th –  28^th February 2021 at Murshidabad, West Bengal.

Points to Remember:

• Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav, the flagship festival of Culture Ministry, has been organised since 2015 with the active participation of Seven Zonal Culture Centres.
• It has been instrumental in showcasing folk and tribal art, dance, music, cuisines & culture of one state in other states reinforcing the cherished goal of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” and at the same time providing an effective platform to the artists and artisans to support their livelihood.
• Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme aims to enhance interaction & promote mutual understanding between people of different states/UTs through the concept of state/UT pairing.

8. முர்ஷிதாபாத்தில் ராஷ்ட்ரிய சமஸ்கிருத மஹோத்சவம்-2021 வண்ணமயமான நிகழ்ச்சிகளுடன் நிறைவு

• ராஷ்டிரிய சமஸ்கிருத மஹோத்சவம்-2021-ன் மூன்றாவது மற்றும் இறுதி பதிப்பு வண்ணமயமான கலை நிகழ்ச்சிகளுடன் நிறைவடைந்தது.
• இரண்டு நாள் மஹோத்சவம், மத்திய அரசின் கலாச்சார அமைச்சகம், மேற்கு வங்க மாநிலம் முர்ஷிதாபாத்தில் 27 பிப்ரவரி 2021 முதல் 28 பிப்ரவரி 2021 வரை நடைபெற்றது.

• கலாச்சார அமைச்சகத்தின் முதன்மைத் திருவிழாவான ராஷ்டிரிய சமஸ்கிருத மஹோத்சவம், ஏழு மண்டல கலாச்சார மையங்களின் செயலூக்கமான பங்கேற்புடன் 2015 ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் நடத்தப்பட்டு வருகிறது.
• இது ஒரு மாநிலத்தின் கலை, நடனம், இசை, உணவு & கலாச்சாரம் ஆகியவற்றை மற்ற மாநிலங்களில் “ஏக் பாரத் சிரேஷ்ட பாரத்” என்னும் நோக்கத்தை வலுப்படுத்தவும், அதே நேரத்தில் கலைஞர்கள் மற்றும் கைவினைஞர்களின் வாழ்வாதாரத்திற்கு ஒரு பயனுள்ள தளத்தையும் வழங்குகிறது.

9. MapmyIndia has integrated with cowin.gov.in, the official vaccination registration website of India

• From March 1, the second phase of the Covid-19 vaccine started and registrations are now open via the Aarogya Setu app and the official website.
• In order to make it easy for registered citizens to find nearby vaccine centers across the country, MapmyIndia has integrated with India’s official vaccination registration website, cowin.gov.in.

9. மேப்மிஇந்தியா, இந்தியாவின் அதிகாரப்பூர்வ தடுப்பூசி பதிவு வலைத்தளமான cowin.gov.in-உடன் ஒருங்கிணைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

10. Vinesh Phogat Wins Gold at Ukraine Wrestling Event

• Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has won the gold medal in the women’s 53-kg category at XXIV Outstanding Ukrainian Wrestlers and Coaches Memorial in Kyiv, Ukraine.
• Vinesh Phogat defeated world number seven Vanesa Kaladzinskaya of Belarus in the finals to win the gold medal.
• Vinesh has already booked a place in the Tokyo Olympics for the 53 kg category. Since the coronavirus halted all competitions last year, it was the first competition for Vinesh, who is the only Indian woman wrestler to have qualified for the Tokyo Games.
