APEDA

• Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) was established by the Government of India under the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act, 1985. It works under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industries. It promotes the export of agricultural and processed food products from India. APEDA replaced the Processed Food Export Promotion Council (PFEPC).

• Justice department launched “Enforcing Contracts Portal”. The portal aims to promote ease of doing business and improve ‘Contract Enforcement Regime’ in India.
• The portal is envisioned to be a comprehensive source of information pertaining to the legislative and policy reforms being undertaken on the “Enforcing Contracts” parameters.

• Delhi inaugurates the first exclusive toilet for Third Gender near Shastri Bhawan. It was inaugurated by New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Chairman and Secretary.
• In 2014, the Indian Supreme Court accorded “third gender” status to transgender people and an individual’s right to determine the gender they identify with.

• Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Prakash Javadekar inaugurated NATRAX, the high-speed Track (HST) in Indore which is the longest such track in Asia. It is the world class 3 km High Speed Track located in Madhya Pradesh

5. World’s second-biggest hydroelectric dam officially opened in China

• World’s second-biggest hydroelectric dam, the Baihetan Dam officially opened in China. It was constructed across the Jinsha River, a tributary of the Yangtze. It is 289 m tall. It has 16 generating units with a capacity of 1 million kw
• Three Gorges Dam built across Yangtze river in China is the biggest hydroelectric dam in the world.

5. உலகின் இரண்டாவது மிகப்பெரிய நீர்மின் அணை சீனாவில் அதிகாரப்பூர்வமாக திறக்கப்பட்டது

6. P. Sainath is awarded the Fukuoka Grand Prize 2021

• The Fukuoka Prize is given annually to distinguished people to increase awareness of Asian cultures, and to create a broad framework of exchange and mutual learning among the Asian people. 11 Indians have received the Fukuoka Prize so far. The Prize was established in 1990.

Fukuoka Prize for 2021 was awarded for three receipients:

1. ‘Grand Prize’ of the Fukuoka Prize – P. Sainath
2. Academic Prize – Prof. Kishimoto Mio of Japan
3. Prize for Arts and Culture – Prabda Yoon of Thailand

6. 6. பி. சாய் நாத்திற்கு ஃபுகுவோகா கிராண்ட் பரிசு 2021 வழங்கப்படுகிறது

8. Deepika Kumari ranked world number one Archery player

• Deepika Kumari has become the top-ranked women archer after securing a hat-trick of gold medals at the Archery World Cup stage 3 in Paris.
• The 27-year-old won gold medals in the recurve women’s team, recurve mixed team and women’s individual recurve events.
• In the mixed recurve team event, Atanu Das and Deepika Kumari bagged Gold over the Netherlands.
• Indian women’s recurve team of Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhakat and Komalika Bari won gold.

10. National Statistics Day – 29 June 

• National Statistics Day is celebrated annually on 29 June to popularise the use of Statistics in everyday life and sensitise the public as to how Statistics helps in shaping and framing policies. The day marks the birth anniversary of P C Mahalanobis, the Father of Indian Statistics.
• Theme 2021: “Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)- 2 (End Hunger, Achieve Food Security and Improved Nutrition and Promote Sustainable Agriculture)”
• The 2021 Mahalanobis International Award for lifetime achievement is given to Heleno bolfarine of Brazil. The award is sponsored by the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. He will receive the award at the Virtual ISI World Statistics Congress in July 2021.

• தேசிய இந்திய புள்ளியியலின் தந்தை பேராசிரியர் பி. சி. மஹலனோபிஸின் பிறந்த நாளை இந்த நாள் குறிக்கிறது.
