  • The figurine has bulging eyes, a prominent nose and parted lips. It is painted red all around the surface.

2. Rajnath Singh launches AI-powered grievance management application

  • Union Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh launched an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered grievance management application. It was developed by the Union Ministry of Defence along with IIT-Kanpur.
  • This is the first AI-based system developed to improve grievance redressal in the Government. The system can identify repeat complaints or spam automatically.

3. Union Minister for Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav chairs the 7th BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting

  • Union Minister for Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav chaired the 7th BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting under India’s Presidency. The Ministers of the member countries, viz. Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa participated in the meeting.
  • The BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers’ Declaration was adopted in the meeting.

BRICS:

  • BRICS is a group of world’s emerging economies – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. India has assumed the BRICS Presidency from January 2021.

4. IAHE signs pact with the University of New South Wales for setting up a centre of excellence named Centre for Advanced Transportation Technology and Systems (CATTS) in Noida

  • The Indian Academy of Highway Engineers (IAHE), under the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH), has signed an agreement with the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, for setting up a Centre for Advanced Transportation Technology and Systems (CATTS) at Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
  • This project aims for capacity building, technology transfer and creation of enabling environment for the establishment of CATTS in IAHE.

 

4. முன்னேறிய போக்குவரத்து தொழில்நுட்பத்திற்கான திறன்மிகு மையத்தை அமைப்பதற்காக நியூ சவுத் வேல்ஸ் பல்கலைக்கழகத்துடன் (IAHE) இந்திய நெடுஞ்சாலை பொறியாளர்கள் அகாடமி ஒப்பந்தம் செய்துள்ளது

5. Karnataka’s 1st Vistadome coach starts its services

  • Karnataka’s 1st Vistadome railway coach started started its services. It has already completed it’s maiden travel. It was flagged off at Mangaluru Junction Railway Station.
  • South Western Railway has attached two Vistadome coaches on the Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru day train service to promote rail tourism.
  • It has been designed to provide scenic views of the Western Ghats to the passengers.

6. Amrita Sher-Gil’s work becomes the second most expensive Indian artwork

  • Amrita Sher-Gil’s work ‘In the Ladies’ Enclosure’ (1938), fetched Rs. 37.8 crores and became the second most expensive Indian artwork after Gaitonde’s work. S. Gaitonde’s ‘Untitled’ (1961), sold for Rs. 39.98 crores this year at Saffronart, remains the most expensive by an Indian artist.
  • Sher-Gil is India’s most famous Indo-Hungarian woman artist and recognised by the Indian Government as a “National Treasure”. It is an honour which makes it illegal to take her art out of the country.

  • அம்ரிதா ஷெர்–கில்லின் படைப்பான ‘இன் தி லேடீஸ் என்க்ளோசர்’ (1938), ரூ. 8 கோடிக்கு ஏலம் விடப்பட்டது மற்றும் கெய்டோண்டேவின் படைப்புகளுக்குப் பிறகு இரண்டாவது மிகவும் விலையுயர்ந்த இந்திய கலைப்படைப்பானது. வி. எஸ். கெய்டோண்டேவின் ‘அன்டைட்டில்ட்’ (1961), இந்த ஆண்டு சாஃப்ரான்ஆர்ட்டில் ரூ. 39.98 கோடிக்கு விற்கப்பட்டது. இது ஒரு இந்திய கலைஞரின் மிகவும் விலை உயர்ந்த கலைப்படைப்பாகும்.

7. 18-year-old Oliver Daemen is set to become the youngest person to space

  • 18-year-old Oliver Daemen joins Blue Origin’s 1st passenger spaceflight to become the youngest person to space. The spaceflight also includes the oldest person to space, Wally Funk, of age 82.
  • Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin spacecraft will carry both the youngest and oldest persons to space.

 

7. 18 வயதான ஆலிவர் டேமன் விண்வெளிக்கு செல்லும் இளைய நபராகிறார்

  • 18 வயதான ஆலிவர் டேமன், ப்ளூ ஆரிஜினின் முதல் பயணிகள் விண்வெளிப் பயணத்தில் இணைந்து விண்வெளிக்குச் செல்லும் மிக இளம் நபராக உள்ளார். இந்த விண்வெளிப் பயணத்தில் விண்வெளிக்கு பயணம் செய்யும் மிக வயதான நபரான 82 வயதான வாலி ஃபங்க்கும் அடங்குவார்.
  • ஜெஃப் பெஸோஸின் இந்த ப்ளூ ஆரிஜின் விண்கலம் மிக இளைய மற்றும் வயதான நபர்களை விண்வெளிக்கு கூட்டிச் செல்லும்.

8. NID Ahmedabad co-founder Gira Sarabhai passed away at the age of 98

  • NID Ahmedabad’s co-founder Gira Sarabhai passed away at the age of 98. Gira Sarabhai and Gautam Sarabhai found the National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad and are pioneers of design education in India. She contributed immensely to the field of art and architecture.
  • They also set up the Calico Museum, one of India’s most famous private museums, in 1949 and Jawaharlal Nehru inaugurated it.
  • Ahmedabad is known as the ‘Manchester of the East’.

 

8. அகமதாபாத் NID இணை நிறுவனர் கிரா சாராபாய் தனது 98 வது வயதில் காலமானார்

  • அகமதாபாத் NIDஇன் இணை நிறுவனர் கிரா சாராபாய் தனது 98வது வயதில் காலமானார். கிரா சாராபாய் மற்றும் கவுதம் சாராபாய் ஆகியோர் அகமதாபாத்தில் தேசிய வடிவமைப்பு நிறுவனத்தை (NID) நிறுவி இந்தியாவில் வடிவமைப்பு கல்வியின் முன்னோடிகளாகத் திகழ்ந்தனர். கலை மற்றும் கட்டிடக்கலைத் துறைக்கு கிரா சாராபாய் மகத்தான பங்களிப்பை வழங்கினார்.

9. Maraimalai Adigal Birth Anniversary – 16 July

  • The 145th birth anniversary of Maraimalai Adigal, a veteran Tamil scholar and Father of the Thani Tamil Movement, was held on 16 July at Pallavaram by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
  • At the beginning of the twentieth century, Tamil was a mixture of Sanskrit and English words. Maraimalai Adigal was one of the pioneers who recovered the Tamil language from this mix.
  • In 1916, he changed his vernacular name Swami Vedachalam to ‘Maraimalai Adigal’ because of his drive to remove other language words and use only Tamil words. In addition, his magazine ‘Gnanasagaram’, was also renamed ‘Arivu Kadal’.
  • To protect Tamil from the mixing of other languages, he started the ‘Thani Tamil Movement’.

 

9. மறைமலையடிகள் பிறந்தநாள் – 16 ஜூலை

  • முதுபெரும் தமிழறிஞரும், தனித்தமிழ் இயக்கத்தின் தந்தையுமான மறைமலையடிகளின் 145வது பிறந்தநாள் விழா 16 ஜூலை அன்று பல்லாவரத்தில் தமிழக அரசின் சாா்பில் நடைபெற்றது.
  • இருபதாம் நூற்றாண்டின் தொடக்கத்தில் வடமொழிச் சொற்களும், ஆங்கிலச் சொற்களும் கலந்ததாகவே தமிழ் விளங்கியது. இந்தக் கலப்பிலிருந்து தமிழை மீட்டெடுத்தவர்களில் முதன்மையானவர் மறைமலையடிகள்.
  • பிற மொழிச் சொற்களை நீக்கித் தனித்தமிழ்ச் சொற்களை மட்டுமே கையாள வேண்டும் என்று 1916இல் ஏற்பட்ட உந்துதலால் சுவாமி வேதாசலம் என்ற தம் வடமொழிப் பெயரை ‘மறைமலையடிகள்’ என்று மாற்றிக்கொண்டார். அத்துடன் அவர் நடத்திவந்த ‘ஞானசாகரம்’ என்ற இதழும் ‘அறிவுக்கடல்’ எனப் பெயர் மாற்றப்பட்டது.
  • இவர் தமிழ் மொழியைப் பிற மொழிக் கலப்பிலிருந்து காக்கும் பொருட்டு, ‘தனித்தமிழ் இயக்கத்தைத்’ தொடங்கினார்.

10. Aruna Asaf Ali Birth Anniversary – 16 July

  • Aruna Asaf Ali, known as the ‘Grand Old Lady of Indian Independence’, was born on 16 July 1909.
  • The Quit India Movement resolution was ratified on 8 August 1942 in Gowalia Tank Maidan, now known as August Kranti Maidan. Gandhi gave the call “Do or Die” during this meeting.
  • Aruna Asaf Ali hoisted the Indian flag at the Gowalia Tank Maidan in Mumbai during the Quit India Movement.

 

10. அருணா ஆசப் அலி பிறந்த நாள் – 16 ஜூலை

  • ‘இந்திய சுதந்திர போராட்டத்தின் முதுபெரும் பெண்மணி’ என்று அழைக்கப்படும் அருணா அசாப் அலி 16 ஜூலை 1909 அன்று பிறந்தார்.
  • வெள்ளையனே வெளியேறு இயக்கத்தின் தீர்மானம் 8 ஆகஸ்ட் 1942 அன்று கோவாலியா டேங்க் மைதானத்தில் அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்டது, இது இப்போது ஆகஸ்ட் கிராந்தி மைதானம் என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. இந்த சந்திப்பின் போது காந்தி “செய் அல்லது செத்து மடி“ என்ற கோஷத்தை எழுப்பினார்.
  • வெள்ளையனே வெளியேறு இயக்கத்தின் போது மும்பையில் உள்ள கோவாலியா டேங்க் மைதானத்தில் அருணா அசாப் அலி இந்திய கொடியை ஏற்றினார்.

11. National Green Tribunal (NGT)

  • The National Green Tribunal was established on 18 October 2010 under the National Green Tribunal Act, 2010.
  • The main purpose of the tribunal was effective and expeditious disposal of cases relating to environmental protection and conservation of forests and other natural resources within 6 months.
  • It includes the enforcement of any legal right and relief and compensation for damages to persons and property.
  • It follows the principle of natural justice.
  • NGT is set up in four places other than New Delhi. They

  • தேசிய பசுமை தீர்ப்பாய சட்டம், 2010இன் கீழ் தேசிய பசுமை தீர்ப்பாயம், 18 அக்டோபர் 2010 அன்று நிறுவப்பட்டது.
  • சுற்றுச்சூழல் பாதுகாப்பு மற்றும் காடுகள் மற்றும் பிற இயற்கை வளங்களைப் பாதுகாத்தல் தொடர்பான வழக்குகளை திறம்படவும் விரைவாக 6 மாதங்களுக்குள் தீர்ப்பது இத்தீர்ப்பாயத்தின் முக்கிய நோக்கமாகும்.
  • இதில் எந்தவொரு சட்ட உரிமையை அமல்படுத்துவது மற்றும் நபர்கள் மற்றும் சொத்துக்களுக்கு ஏற்படும் சேதங்களுக்கு நிவாரணம் மற்றும் இழப்பீடு ஆகியவற்றை வழங்குவதும் அடங்கும்.
  • இது இயற்கை நீதிக் கொள்கையைப் பின்பற்றுகிறது.
