Delhi Metro to ink pact with Madhya Pradesh govt for sourcing solar power from Rewa:

 

 
Madhya Pradesh government will sign a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to supply 24% of electricity generated from the Rewa ultra mega solar project to be set up in the state.


INTERNATIONAL

India calls off maritime talks with Pakistan:

 
India took its first step by calling off upcoming maritime security dialogues with Pakistan. A delegation led by Pakistan’s Maritime Security Agency (MSA) was scheduled to visit New Delhi on April 16 to 19.

The talks also signals on bilateral ties with Pakistan in protest against the death sentence of Kulbhushan Jadhav, a former Indian naval officer being sentenced death by Pakistan military court.

D-Mart’s Noronha is richest professional CEO :

 
The recent listing of Avenue Super marts the company that runs D-Mart stores, the largest Indian retailer by market capitalization named Ignatius Navil Noronha as the richest professional CEO in the country with an aggregate wealth of over Rs.1000 crore (Rs.1074 crore).

He was paid 17.95 crore as remuneration for the year 2015-16. His wealth is more than double that of Aditya Puri, MD, HDFC Bank, who comes second in the list.


NALCO to invest Rs.25000 Cr to raise capacity:

 
National Aluminium Corporation (NALCO) is planning an expansion in production capacity by one million tonnes per annum. The capacity of Nalco’s smelter at Angul is being increased with an investment of Rs.20000 crore and another Greenfield plant expands Damanjodi with an investment of Rs.5400 crore. The plants are located in Rajasthan (two), Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

Indian engineer wins ‘Cartier Women’s Initiative award’:

 
An Indian environmental engineer has won this year’s prestigious Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards’ for providing women working on farms with water management solutions and protecting small farmers against droughts and flash floods.

Trupti Jain, 46, was one among the six winners chosen for the Asia-Pacific laureate from a pool of nearly 1,900 applicants from over 120 countries and were selected by an independent international jury. Each recipient receives a USD 100,000 prize money as well as a year of mentoring.

Praneeth beats Srikanth to win Singapore Open Super Series title:

 
Sai Praneeth upstaged compatriot Kidambi Srikanth to clinch the Singapore Open men’s singles title, his maiden Super Series trophy. Praneeth prevailed 17-21, 21-17, 21-12 in a 54-minute contest, which was the first all-Indian Super Series final in the history of the game. This was the first time that two Indians featured in men’s singles Super series final.

Robert Taylor, who was one of among others who created world-changing technological invention “Internet”, died at the age of 85. He created the Arpanet, the forerunner of the internet.


World’s oldest person Emma Morano dies at 117:

 

 
The world’s oldest person Emma Morano has died in Italy at the age of 117. She was born on 29 November 1899 in the Piedmont region of Italy. She was officially the last person born in the 1800s still living.
