Road ministry launches online platform INAM PRO+ for infra raw material:

Minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari launched the INAM PRO+ an e-commerce platform for construction and infrastructure raw material for government and private procurement.

INAM PRO+ is an updated version of the INAM portal, which was launched by the ministry of road transport and highways in 2015.

Varanasi will get the country’s first ‘freight village’ spread over around 100 acres. The plan to set up this project close to the upcoming multi-mode terminal along the Ganga has attracted major players including Dubai Port World and IL&FS.

The village, a one-of-its-kind infrastructure platform, will fasten movement of goods through railways and roadways.

Punjab, UK join hands to promote skill development, technical education:

The Punjab Government and the UK in principle decided to join hands to impart skill development and technical education to the youth of the state with a view to providing them better employment opportunities in foreign countries.

It was announced by Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi after meeting Britain Deputy High Commissioner Andrew Ayre.

Haryana renames HUDA:

The Haryana government has renamed HUDA (Haryana Urban Development Authority) as it sounds similar to the name of the former chief minister of the state Bhupinder Singh Hooda. The Hindi name of the authority “Haryana Shahari Vikash Pradhikaran” will now be the new name in English as well.

MSME ties up with Samsung to setup 2 more technical schools:

    Samsung India signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) to setup two new Samsung Technical Schools in Bangalore and Jamshedpur.

Project 75: Second Scorpene Submarine Begins Sea Trial:

    INS Khanderi, the second of the six Scorpene class submarines has sailed out from Mumbai harbour for its maiden sea sortie in a step closer to its induction into the Indian Navy.

The first Scorpene “INS Kalvari” is currently being readied for delivery in July or August.

SBI to lend 400 cr. for rooftop solar projects:

The State Bank of India (SBI) announced financing of rooftop solar projects worth Rs 400 crore, with private developers.

This would add at least 100 Mw of rooftop solar capacity to the grid.     SBI availed loan of $625 million from the World Bank for lending to viable Grid-Connected Rooftop Solar PV projects undertaken by photovoltaic developers.

ICAI proposes joint audit for private banks:

The Institute of Chartered Accounts of India (ICAI), the regulatory body governing auditors has proposed to the finance ministry and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) the introduction of the concept of joint audit in private banks to enhance the quality of audit.

Bank of India conducts ‘Star Mahotsav’:

    Bank of India conducted a Star Mahotsav across its branch network in the country. The thrust was on contacting every customer at their door step either for recovery of bad loans, disbursement of retail loans including housing and vehicle loan, disbursement under MSME and agriculture and promotion of its products, including debit and credit card, POS machine, and internet banking service.

RCom-Aircel merged firm to be called as Aircom:

Reliance Communication Head Anil Ambani announced the merged entity of Reliance Communications and Aircel will be called Aircom. RCom will hold a 50% stake in the new company.

RBI appoints S. Ganesh Kumar as new Executive Director:

The Reserve Bank has appointed Ganesh Kumar as Executive Director (ED) after the voluntary retirement of Chandan Sinha.

Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das announced his retirement as the Corporate Affairs Secretary after 37 years of service in government. He will be succeeded by Tapan Ray who will take the additional charges as the new Economic Affairs Secretary.

West Indies cricket team’s official name changed to WINDIES:

The cricket board for West Indies, on its 91st   anniversary, has re-branded themselves as Cricket West Indies from the former West Indies Cricket board.

Shubham wins junior golf title

Shubham Jaglan won the European Junior title with a stroke margin win over USA’s Jaivir Pande at the Glen Golf Club, North Berwick, Scotland.
