Action plan to reduce IMR

District-level action plans are being formulated in Rajasthan in association with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to reduce Infant Mortality Rate (IMR).

The IMR in the State at present was 32 per 1,000 live births, while the target had been set to reduce it to 12 per 1,000 live births by 2030.


India test fired Brahmos missile

India successfully test fired Supersonic cruise missile Brahmos from the integrated test range at Balasore off the Odisha coast. The supersonic missile is capable of carrying a warhead of 300Kg. With this successful test firing the extended range Brahmos, India can knock down enemy targets beyond 400kms.

 

 


12th CII – EXIM Bank conclave on India Africa Project

    12th CII–EXIM Bank conclave on India–Africa project partnership in New Delhi. The conclave was inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee. The objective is to discuss cooperation in trade, regional integration & Infrastructure development, Finance and consultancy, Mining and Minerals, Agriculture and Agro – processing.

 

 


Lok Sabha passed the Admiralty Bill

The bill confers admiralty jurisdiction in High courts located in coastal states of India and this jurisdiction extends upto territorial waters. Admiralty refers to jurisdiction and settlement of Maritime claims. It does not apply to warships and naval auxiliary and vessels used for non- commercial purpose.

 

 


Centre has launched a new centre for Ornamental fisheries

Central Government has planned to launch a new centre for ornamental fisheries. The centre would cost around Rs. 61 crore. The project would be launched by National Fisheries Development Board.

 

 

 

 


Himachal Launched a new app for job – seeker

Himachal Pradesh CM Virbhadra singh launched a mobile app and website “Mere Hunar HP”. Skilled and semi – skilled persons can apply for various jobs as per their convenience. This will increase the employment rate in the state.

Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement

    India and Belgium signed a protocol to avoid double taxation in New Delhi. This protocol will help the Union Government in its fight against the black money that is stashed in the offshore accounts. Prime ministers main motive is to fight against black money in whichever form it is.

 


APPOINTMENTS

Ford Foundation appoints Pradeep Nair as regional director

Ford foundation head – quartered in NewYork appointed Pradeep Nair as regional director of India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.  He will succeed David Hulse.

Nair will lead the global non-profit grant–making organization’s operations in New Delhi.

 A Contestant from Thailand Jiratchaya Sirimongkolna win is crowned as Miss International Queen 2016.

This contest has been named as the world’s largest and most popular transgender pageant. The second and third place is occupied by a Brazil and Venezuela candidate respectively.
