India Donated 3 Lakh Dollars For Peacekeeping Initiative At UN

India has donated three lakh Dollars for a peacekeeping initiative at the UN.

It will help develop the capacity of future commanders and managers over a period of three years.

The Indian government donated the amount for the ‘Pipeline to Peacekeeping Command Programme’ with a specific focus on issues of conduct and discipline.

5th National Summit on Public Health Care

The 5th National Summit on Good and Replicable Practices and Innovations in Public Health Care Systems in India  began at Kaziranga in Assam.

The objective of the summit is to share and learn the good practices being implemented by several states and organizations for the betterment of the health sector.

The Summit will be inaugurated by Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare J P Nadda at Borgos Resort, Kaziranga in Golaghat district of Assam.


PM Modi to unveil world’s tallest statue

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil the bronze statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Kevadia in Narmada district, on the 143rd birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.

At 182 metres, the ‘Statue of Unity’, facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam, is nearly double the height of the Statue of Liberty in New York and taller than the Spring Temple of Buddha in China, which had held the record at 153 metres.

The Statue of Unity, set up under the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Rashtriya Ekta Trust, has been constructed at a cost of ₹2,989 crore (approx $407 million) in less than four years.

Built by engineering major Larsen & Toubro Ltd, the statue will be treated as the largest memorial to the ‘Iron Man of India’.

World’s Largest Airport ‘Under One Roof’ Opened In Istanbul

The world’s largest airport terminal “under one roof” with a capacity to serve 90 million passengers will be officially opened on October 29 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Dubbed as phase-1A of the project – Istanbul New Airport – will have a capacity to handle 90 million passenger per year, making it the largest such facility in the world.

Overall the first phase has costed 7.5 billion Euro. It has been constructed by – IGA – which is a consortium of companies under a public private partnership (PPP) model.


BANKING AND ECONOMY

India topped as Asia’s most investment savvy economy: Standard Chartered

India is Asia’s most investment savvy economy and more than two-thirds of the country’s affluent class prefer to use various investment products to achieve their financial goals and greater social mobility.

According to a new Standard Chartered study of 11,000 emerging affluent consumers across Asia, Africa and the Middle East, 68 per cent of Indian people belonging to this segment are using investment products to achieve their financial goals, as compared to an average figure of 57 per cent.

The study said, 31 per cent of emerging affluents is selecting mutual funds, a quarter (25 per cent) choosing fixed income investments and 22 per cent equity investments.


RBI To Inject Rs 40,000 Crore In November Via OMO

The Reserve Bank of India will inject Rs 40,000 crore in the banking system next month, a move that will help ease cash shortage in the system and stabilise debt market rates.

Based on an assessment of the durable liquidity needs going forward, RBI has decided to conduct purchase of government securities under open market operations for an aggregate amount of Rs400 billion in the month of November 2018.

Open market operation (OMO) is an RBI mechanism to infuse or suck liquidity from the system.

Clara Sosa Won Miss Grand International 2018 In Myanmar

Miss Paraguay Clara Sosa won the Miss Grand International 2018 title at the 6th edition of the beauty pageant in Yangon, Myanmar.  

Clara Sosa succeeds Miss Grand International 2017 Maria Jose Lora of Peru. India’s, fbb Colors Femina Miss Grand India 2018 Meenakshi Chaudhary was named 1st runner up.


Lion Air plane crashes in Java Sea with 188 aboard

An Indonesian Lion Air flight, JT610 with 189 people on board crashed into the sea and sank soon after taking off from the capital, Jakarta, on a flight to a tin-mining region.

The pilot of the plane requested to return to base before it lost contact 13 minutes into the flight.

Rescue workers are trying to find the main body of the plane after finding debris and aircraft parts floating on the surface of the Java Sea.

PT Lion Mentari Airlines, operating as Lion Air, is an Indonesian low-cost airline. Based in Jakarta, Lion Air is the country’s largest privately run airline, the second largest low-cost airline in Southeast Asia after AirAsia and the largest airline of Indonesia.

Maverick Vinales Wins Australian MotoGP

Maverick Vinales has won the Australian MotoGP as newly-crowned world champion Marc Marquez failed to finish after starting from pole for the fifth straight year.

This is the third time Marquez has crashed out at the Australian GP after 2016 and 2014.

Maverick Viñales Ruiz is a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racer and former Moto3 world champion, taking the title in 2013. In 2015 he won the best rookie award in the MotoGP class.


India, Pakistan declared joint winners of Asian Champions Trophy

India and Pakistan were declared as the joint winners of the 5th Men’s Hero Asian Champions Trophy Muscat 2018 hockey tournament after the final was abandoned due to bad weather conditions.

India were looking to defend their title which they won back in Kuantan, Malaysia in 2016 when they beat arch-rivals Pakistan 3-2 in the Final.
