Ramsar Convention adds four Indian wetlands to the Wetlands of Global Importance list

  • The Ramsar Convention designated Thol Lake Wildlife Sanctuary and Wadhwana Wetland from Gujarat and Sultanpur National Park and Bhindawas Wildlife Sanctuary from Haryana as ‘Wetlands of Global Importance’.
  • These wetlands are home to endangered bird species like Egyptian Vulture, Saker Falcon, Sociable Lapwing and the threatened Dalmatian Pelican.After the latest addition, India now has 46 Ramsar wetland sites.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announces National Infrastructure Plan worth Rs. 100 lakh crores

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Indian Government will soon launch ‘PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan’ which will be a Rs. 100 lakh crore national infrastructure master plan.
  • Gati Shakti will help local manufacturers turn globally competitive and also develop possibilities of new future economic zones.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announce the launch of a Hydrogen Mission to achieve self-reliance in energy by 2047

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a National Hydrogen Mission for India to accelerate plans to generate carbon-free fuel from renewables and set a target of 2047 for India to achieve self-reliance in energy.
  • The target is to make India a global hub for production as well as export of green hydrogen.

Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar launches ‘TAPAS’ online portal  

  • Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar launched an online portal ‘TAPAS’ (Training for Augmenting Productivity and Services) by the National Institute of Social Defence to provide filmed lectures/courses and e-study material within the field of social defence.
  • This will present 5 primary programs on drug (substance) abuse prevention, geriatric/aged care, care and administration of dementia, transgender points and a complete course on social defence points.

Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs launches ‘Sonchiraiya’ for SHG products

  • Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) launched ‘SonChiraiya’, a brand and logo, for the marketing of urban self-help group (SHG) products.
  • This initiative will help in increasing visibility and global access for the products made by urban SHG women.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister announces four more districts in the state

  • Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced four new districts—Mohla Manpur, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, Shakti and Manendragarh in the state of Chhattisgarh.
  • At present, there are 28 districts in Chhattisgarh and after this addition of four new districts, the number will increase to 32.

Odisha Chief Minister announces smart health cards for 3.5 crore people under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana

  • Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced that Odisha Government will provide smart health cards to 3.5 crore people in the state under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana.
  • The beneficiaries of national and state food security schemes and Annapurna and Antyodaya initiatives will get the smart cards under which women can avail treatment up to Rs. 10 lakhs per annum and other family members will get the benefit up to Rs. 5 lakhs each.

Kaziranga National Park becomes India’s first national park with satellite phones used by law-enforcing agencies

  • Kaziranga National Park became the first in India to use satellite phones which are generally used by law-enforcing agencies. These satellite phones will give an edge to the forest personnel over the poachers and also during emergencies like floods.
  • This initiative is to provide assistance to thwart poaching and ensure coordinated functioning between the forest personnel.

  • RuPay launched a strategic campaign #FollowPaymentDistancing to promote and encourage contactless payments among customers and switch to contactless digital payments with RuPay contactless cards.

Indian Navy takes part in the US Navy-led SEACAT exercises in Singapore

  • The Indian Navy demonstrated its maritime maneuvers in the US Navy-led Southeast Asia Cooperation and Training (SEACAT) military exercise in Singapore.
  • This military exercise also included national navies of 20 other partner nations as well. Nations like Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Canada, France, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, New Zealand, Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, East Timor, United Kingdom, United States, and Vietnam took part in SEACAT.
