Madhya Pradesh emerges on top in implementing PM Svanidhi scheme:

  • Madhya Pradesh has emerged on top in implementing the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendors Atma Nirbhar Nidhi-PM Swa Nidhi scheme. The scheme is being implemented in the state to help the street vendors to continue their business.
  • Apart from urban street vendors, a scheme to provide interest free assistance of 10,000 is being implemented also for the street vendors of rural areas in the state.

  • Ministry of Tourism presented a webinar on ‘NadiVigyan: A complete solution for spinal disorders’ under Dekho Apna Desh webinar series. The origin point of Nadi is called as Kandasthana which is the nabi (navel area) of the human body.

 

Madhya Pradesh government to run ‘Roko -Toko’ campaign for those who do not wear masks:

  • Madhya Pradesh government to run Roko -Toko (stop and campaign) for those who do not wear masks as the use of masks is mandatory. Selected voluntary organizations to provide masks for people who didn’t wear and will charge an amount of Rs 20/mask.

Madhya Pradesh government begins ‘Mera Ghar Mera Vidyalaya’ scheme to facilitate students:

  • Madhya Pradesh government has started Mera Ghar Mera Vidyalaya Scheme. Under the Mera Ghar-Mera Vidyalaya Scheme, children can now sit for classes in their homes.
  • The scheme aims to provide students with a school-like atmosphere at home. After the launch of the scheme, several teachers and staffers of the schools were seen delivering books and study material to the children.

Signature Global to invest Rs 225 cr in affordable housing project in Gurugram:

  • Realty firm Signature Global will invest Rs 225 crore over the next four years to develop a new affordable housing project in Gurugram, Haryana.

Google announces $10bn investment in ‘digital India’:

  • Google will invest $10bn in India in the next 5 to 7 yrs. The investment will be made through the Google for India Digitization Fund & for building products and services for India, help businesses go digital, and use technology “For Social Good”.

Rural unemployment at  four-month  low  on good rains, NREGA:

  • According to latest data from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), the rural joblessness rate slowed to 34% from the previous week’s 7.78%.The overall unemployment rate, too, came down to 7.44% in the week to 12 July from 8.87%.

 

India’s GDP likely to contract 4.5% in FY21; FICCI survey:

  • Vidhu P. Nair has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Turkmenistan. Dr Nair is presently Director in the External Affairs Ministry. H H Kotalwar has been appointed as next Abassador of India to the Czech Republic.

 

Vikram Doraiswami appointed as India’s new envoy to Bangladesh and Rudrendra Tandon is India’s next envoy to Afghanistan:

  • Government has decided to appoint Rudrendra Tandon as the new envoy to Afghanistan. Tandon is currently the Indian envoy to ASEAN at Jakarta.
  • He replaces Vinay Kumar who has performed admirably with the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan after striking a deal with Taliban insurgents.
  • Vikram Doraiswami replaces Riva Ganguly Das, who is likely to take over as Secretary East at the external affairs ministry.

Hockey stalwart Ashok Kumar to receive Mohun Bagan Lifetime Achievement Award:

  • Ashok Kumar, a key member of India’s 1975 World Cup winning hockey team, will be conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the city’s iconic club Mohun Bagan on the occasion of its foundation day.
  • Mohun Bagan Day is celebrated every year on July 29. He is Son of hockey wizard Dhyan Chand.

  • Sachin Awasthi, the president of National Media Club and Founder of Shri Ram Seva Mission was honoured with the “Top Publicist” award in the Global Humanitarian Awards 2020 held as a webinar over a virtual platform in London.

Ved Parkash Dudeja receives ‘Infra Business Leader of the Year’ award:

  • Rail Infra and Mobility Business Digital Awards (RIMBDA) has selected Ved Parkash Dudeja, Vice Chairman, Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) as the Infra Business Leader of the Year for 2020.
  • Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) is a statutory authority under the Ministry of Railways.

 

ISRO Chief K Sivan to be Conferred with 2020 Von Karman Award By IAA:

  • ISRO Chief Dr Kailasavadivoo Sivan has been named as the winner of the 2020 Von Karman Award by the Paris-based International Academy of Astronautics (IAA). The award will be conferred upon K Sivan in March 2021 in Paris.
  • Prior to K Sivan, only two Indians have been the recipients of this award. They were Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan and R. Rao.

  • The state of Chhattisgarh has been awarded this honour by the country’s prestigious IT institution Elites Technomedia under the ‘Digital India initiative’.
