Tripura starts 24×7 ‘mobile policing’ service

The Tripura government has launched the GPS (Global Positioning System) and wireless based 24×7 “mobile policing” service to curb crime, especially against women.

With the launch of the “mobile policing” service, people won’t need to go to the police, and police would go to the spot within a few minutes to deal with the situation.

To operate the ‘mobile policing’ service, a police van or a small vehicle with police personnel would keep patrolling round-the-clock in their assigned zone. The mobile patrolling would remain in constant contact with the nearest police station, outpost besides higher authorities.

Government launches Swajal Scheme in 115 Aspirational districts

Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation has launched Swajal Scheme in 115 Aspirational districts of India to provide clean drinking water.

It will involve outlay of Rs. 700 crores through flexi-funds under existing National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) budget.

Under it, 90% of project cost is taken care by the Government and remaining 10% is contributed by beneficiary community.


DRDO turns Pinaka Rocket System into guided missile

The indigenous Pinaka rocket system of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), known for firing a salvo of 12 rockets in just 44 seconds, is being evolved into a precision-guided missile.

The missile has completed the initial trial and it will undergo developmental trials next month and is expected to be delivered to the Army in two year.

The initial version of the Pinaka rocket was further developed into Pinaka Mark II, which has an enhanced range of 70 to 80 km compared to Mark I, with a range of 40 km.


Union Cabinet approves proposal for enactment of Dam Safety Bill, 2018

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the proposal for introduction of Dam Safety Bill, 2018 in the Parliament.

It will help all the States and Union Territories of India to adopt uniform dam safety procedures which shall ensure safety of dams and safeguard benefits from such dams. This shall also help in safeguarding human life, livestock and property.

The Bill provides for establishment of National Dam Safety Authority as a regulatory body which shall discharge functions to implement the policy, guidelines and standards for dam safety in the country.


Ministry of AYUSH inaugurated ‘Yoga Ambassadors Tour’

The ‘Yoga Ambassadors Tour’ is a specialized trip for yoga professionals from around the world and it is a part of Kerala government’s tourism promotion programme. It was inaugurated by Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik.

The Tour aims to design a wholesome yoga package for visiting tourists, combining well-known yoga destinations with related activities.

The 10 day educational tour for yoga professionals has been organised by the Association of Tourism Trade Organisations (ATTOI) in association with the Ministry of AYUSH and Kerala Tourism department.

NSG plenary meeting held in Jurmala, Latvia

The twenty-eighth Plenary Meeting of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) chaired by Ambassador Janis Zlamets of Latvia, was held in Jurmala, Latvia.

The NSG brings together 48 Participating Governments with the European Commission and the Chair of the Zangger Committee participating as permanent observers.

The participating Governments exchanged information on global proliferation challenges and reiterated their firm support for the full, complete and effective implementation of the Treaty on Non-proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).

It was the first NSG meet since India got admitted into three out of four export control regimes. There are four export control regimes —MTCR, Australia group, Wassenaar arrangement & NSG.

Reliance Industries invests in India’s first carbon fibre unit

The Reliance Industries is investing in setting up India’s first carbon fibre manufacturing unit to cater to aerospace and defence needs.

The company will also make low-cost and high-volume composite products like modular toilets, homes and composites for windmill blades and rotor blades.

Reliance is developing new business verticals in the petrochemicals business to capture Rs30,000 crore composites market and has plans to produce graphene, enhanced plastics and elastomers, fibre reinforced composites which can replace steel. One of the most common forms of composite in use is carbon fibre.


US surpassed India As Top Greenfield FDI Investment Destination

The US has surpassed India to become the top destination for greenfield FDI investment in 2017 with USD 87.4 billion recorded. A green field investment is a type of foreign direct investment (FDI) where a parent company builds its operations in a foreign country from the ground up.

The number of greenfield FDI projects in India during the year fell sharply by 21 per cent to 637. The US was also the highest ranked country for FDI by number of projects, recording 1,627.

In the Asia and Pacific region, China was on top in terms of FDI in total number of new projects and capital investment, followed by India, as per the FDI report.


MARG ERP Limited Partners with ICICI Bank

The Marg ERP limited, a leading Inventory and Accounting software solution company has partnered with ICICI Bank.

It aims to offer an integrated payments platform to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) customers, using MARG’s accounting software.

This integration aims to promote ‘Connected Banking’ and enables ICICI Bank’s current account holders to securely connect their bank account with the MARG ERP software.

It will enable businesses to initiate vendor & salary payments via RTGS, NEFT or IMPS directly from this platform.


Muthoot Fincorp Limited announced its partnership with NSDC

The Muthoot Fincorp Limited has announced its partnership with National Skill Development Corporation to train over 10,000 youth over the next three years and make them job ready.

With the partnership, Muthoot Fincorp claims to have become the first major private sector player to partner with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to launch the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY.2) programme.

Under the scheme, Muthoot Fincorp targets to train over 10,000 people over the next three years and make them job ready. NSDC has approved a target of 3,000 candidates in the first year and 3,500 each in the subsequent two years.

PMKVY is the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship.

Roger Federer Wins 98th ATP Title in Stuttgart

The top-seeded Swiss Roger Federer beat his Canadian opponent Milos Raonic for the 11th time in 14 meetings while winning a first Mercedes Cup (Stuttgart title). Now, Roger Federer claimed his 98th ATP title. The event was held in Germany.

Now, he regained the world number one ranking. Federer made a return to the top ATP ranking for the sixth time.

Tim Putz and Philipp Petzschner (Germany) won in the Men’s Doubles category after defeating (Poland) and R. Lindstedt (Sweden).

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day – June 15

The World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is observed every year on June 15.

The day aims to focus global attention on the problem of physical, emotional, and financial abuse of elders.

The theme of 2018 is “Moving from Awareness to Action through a Human Rights based approach”.

The UN also observes an International Day of Older Persons on October 1 every year to recognize the contributions of older persons and to examine issues that affect their lives.


World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought – June 17

The World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought is observed every year on June 17.

It aims to promote public awareness of international efforts to combat desertification. Desertification is the degradation of land in arid, semi-arid and dry sub-humid areas.

The 2018 Theme “Land has true value – invest in it.”
