  • International Transgender Day of Visibility is observed on 31 March every year to raise awareness about the struggles that transgenders face and advocate for more protected rights and empower the transgender community.

Indian Ocean Naval Symposium holds its first maritime exercise named ‘IMEX-22’ at Goa and in the Arabian Sea

  • The regional grouping Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) has conducted its first edition of maritime exercise named ‘IMEX-22’ at Goa and in the Arabian Sea.
  • This exercise witnessed the participation of 16 of the 25 member nations of the IONS. This exercise is aimed to enhance interoperability in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations among member navies.

Delhi Metro’s first interchange station was inaugurated at the Punjabi Bagh

  • The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s first interchange station that connects two operational corridors was inaugurated at the Punjabi Bagh.
  • This new interchange station at the Punjabi Bagh will interconnect the Green Line and Pink Line of the Delhi Metro.

Manipur signs an MoU with Samsung and Abhitech to set up a sports digital experience centre in Imphal

  • Manipur has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with tech-giant Samsung Data System India and Abhitech IT Solutions for setting up a world-class ‘sports digital experience centre’ as a part of Manipur Olympian Park and at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
  • This MoU was signed in the presence of Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh at the Cabinet Hall of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Imphal.

Maharashtra Government launches a scheme to offer personal loans for prisoners

  • Maharashtra Government has launched a scheme to provide personal loans for prisoners to improve the living standard of the families of the prison inmates.
  • The Maharashtra State Co-operative Bank will give loans up to ₹ 50,000 at an interest rate of 7 per cent under this scheme.
  • This scheme will be implemented on a pilot basis at the Yerawada Central Jail in Pune, Maharashtra.

UAE-based Lulu Group International is set to invest ₹ 3,500 crores in Tamil Nadu

  • Multi-national conglomerate LuLu Group International has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu Government to invest ₹ 3,500 crores in Tamil Nadu to build two shopping malls and set up an export-oriented food processing unit.
  • While the malls will be built at a cost of ₹ 2,500 crores, the food processing unit will come up at a cost of ₹ 1,000 crores.
  • These three projects will employ over 5,000 people in Tamil Nadu.

  • HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company has launched a banking industry-first digital customer engagement and rewards programme named ‘VAULT’.
  • Under this programme, the insurer will incentivise its Optima Restore health insurance customers by way of reward points for performing certain activities like staying insured under the policy for more than two years, holding two active HDFC ERGO retail policies, interacting digitally, using the cashless network of healthcare providers, etc.

Karnataka Bank opens its Digi Centre in Mangalore

  • Karnataka Bank has opened a ‘Digi Centre’ in Mangalore, Karnataka. This Digi Centre was inaugurated by the Chief Business Officer (CBO) of Karnataka Bank Gokuldas Pai.
  • This digital centre offers various services like opening of savings bank accounts, issuance of debit cards, cash withdrawal, cash deposit and in-principal sanction of retail loans through digital mode/channels in a paperless, efficient, safe and secured environment.

GDP Predictions


India Ratings revises India’s real GDP growth to 7.0–7.2 per cent for FY23

  • India Ratings has projected India’s real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth estimate for the fiscal year 2023 (FY23) to 7.0–7.2 per cent due to the impact of high crude oil and commodity prices on domestic consumption amid the Russia–Ukraine conflict.
  • Earlier, it had revised India’s economic growth estimates for FY23 to 7.6 per cent.

Google Pay collaborates with Pine Labs to offer ‘Tap to Pay’ for UPI users in India

  • Google Pay has collaborated with Pine Labs to launch the ‘Tap to Pay’ for Unified Payments Interface (UPI) users in India.
  • Under this collaboration, users can now complete payment by tapping their phone on the POS terminal and authenticate the payment using their UPI PIN.

SpiceJet, Boeing, CSIR-IIP forge ties for eco-friendly aviation fuel

  • SpiceJet, Boeing and CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP) have announced that they are working together to explore opportunities for the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in the Indian aviation industry.
  • This coordination is part of their commitments to helping reduce carbon emissions to achieve environmental goals.

  • HDFC Bank has partnered with Shoppers Stop to launch a new range of co-branded credit cards to provide an elevated shopping experience in a convenient manner.
  • These co-branded credit cards will be available for over 80 lakh ‘First Citizen’ customers of Shoppers Stop along with HDFC Bank
  • These co-branded credit cards will be available in two categories – Shoppers Stop HDFC Bank Credit Card and Shoppers Stop Black HDFC Bank Credit Card.

Belgian footballer Miguel Van Damme passed away at 28

  • Belgian footballer Miguel Van Damme passed away at the age of 28. He was diagnosed with leukemia in 2016 and was undergoing treatment for cancer for over five years.
  • Miguel Van Damme made 40 appearances for Cercle Brugge.
